Everytime I've booked an appointment, it's basically useless because I end up waiting for at least 30 minutes. The first time I waited over an hour past my appointment time, which I find unacceptable. Henry is my nail tech and he's personable, and executes exactly what I want. I chose Kim this time because Henry's on vacation and I was unhappy with my nails. Her work was sloppy; she left streaks on my nails and didn't paint it fully. I called over the phone and they were more than happy to fix it. However, it's a huge inconvenience having to come back. Service definitely needs work. EDIT: The customer service team responded and said I probably walked in on a busy day. I clearly stated I had an appointment every time. I had such a great experience at this nail salon and especially with Kim! She truly went above and beyond for me. I originally came in during a rush and we weren't able to finish my nails that day, but she stayed late after work the next day just so she could complete them properly. That alone meant a lot! Before my appointment, she even asked me to send photos of my inspo ahead of time so she could review them and think of something creative. I was very specific about wanting a red and mostly pink Lunar New Year inspired set with cherry blossom details, and she came fully prepared with multiple color and design options. You can tell she puts real thought and effort into her work! What I care most about with nails is cuticle prep, shaping, and attention to detail, and she did an excellent job. My cuticles were cleaned beautifully and the shape and base color already looked perfect even before the detailed designs were added. She takes her time and makes sure everything looks clean and balanced. I also really appreciated how comfortable she made the process. It can be hard to speak up if you are unsure about something, but she was very reassuring and encouraged honest feedback. If she noticed I was hesitating, she would check in and adjust things without making me feel bad at all. This review is long overdue, but I had to share how amazing this place is. Vicky makes my nails look absolutely stunning every single time. She's so talented with designs, and the quality of her work is incredible. I get GelX with her and it has honestly been a game changer for me. I don't have a ton of time to constantly redo my nails, and somehow they still look amazing weeks later. I literally still get compliments on them even after a month because they hold up so well! I'm attaching a photo from my Valentine's Day set because it was so cute and perfectly done. Vicky always brings my ideas to life and somehow makes them even better. Booked online for a mani/pedi but when I walked in the staff was CONFUSED! They told me that they don't really use/check the online rsvp system and that I can just check-in on the tablet/iPad at the front register without really filling all of my information out. I verbalized what I was looking for and was immediately sat down as the staff decided amongst themselves of who was going to help me with my set. I was promptly given a menu of selections and a color palette to choose from. There wasn't much communication going on other than confirming the color and which of the menu items I wanted so if you're looking to get something specific done, SAY IT! Help them help you! Photo references help a tonnnn. I went for an emerald green cat eye gel on natural nails with no extra designs. Originally I wanted a gold French tips to go with it but GOD was the trial nail ugly. Super grateful for my manicurist showing me a preview of what it would look like and validating that it wasn't as great of an idea as it sounded haha. The whole experience was really fast and I paid about $50 for the mani/pedi each. + added a $10 tip for both the nail artists. But, one piece of advice, DO NOT get your cuticles cut. Every place is different. For here? It's a definite no. My pedicurist did a lovely job and was very careful with my toenails and surrounding skin which I was super grateful for. But my manicurist ended up cutting the skin off my pinky. I don't know if it was just too late in the day or what but I felt a really sharp pain during my manicure and when I looked over to see what it was, I immediately stopped her from continuing and told her I didn't want my cuticles to be cut. It took a little back and forth to get her to understand but gosh, despite my finger not bleeding from the surface level skin being cut, I sustained a wound that left my finger hurting for the next three days as I went on vacation and celebrated my birthday. Not something I was expecting and will be more cautious of next time. I did let the manicurist know that I wanted my cuticles pushed back and even motioned it out but despite all the nodding it wasn't done. So, before you walk in you might want to just quickly do it yourself. My nails grow fast and it's already showing a small gap between my cuticles and polish. For this price point, especially in the Bay Area, you can't beat it. Despite my injury, I'd still come back. Getting your nails done have become such an expensive luxury that I reserve it for special events. This place makes it so that I can afford to get it done more often if I wanted to. I've been coming here for years, and have just experienced the worst mani+pedi. I've been letting things slide these past few times but today they disregarded our appointment. On my toes they forgot about half the service I booked for, didn't do the paraffin wax ( I had to remind). Before finding this place, I used to get frustrated because my nails were always done too far from the cuticle, so they looked grown out right away -- but not here! Made appointments for a friend and I for mani pedis. Arrived on time and were seated right away. However, we had to wait over an hour as they were busy with other customers. We had to cancel our manicures and finally only got pedicures. My feet started the soaking in great warm water but by the time they got to me, the water was cold. The person in charge did apologize and also gave me a gift card to use at the next visit- which was a nice gesture. My friend booked an appointment for the both of us to get our nails done. However, she accidentally booked the wrong type of appointment - gel manicure instead of gel x. As a result, I had to wait for a while until a nail technician was available. While I waited, the staff offered me water, so I browsed around for a design. I was assigned Henry as my nail technician. He was energetic and friendly, but I felt like he was rushing through the nail preparation because it was close to closing time. Although I loved my set of nails, there were some minor imperfections that could have been prevented if he had taken the time to slow down. One thing that I found strange was that after he added jewels to my nails, he didn't put any polish on top or anything to secure the jewels. As a result, they quickly got caught in my hair and clothes and fell off after I left. It was disappointing that it happened. Doing nails is expensive, so I expected high quality. My total came out to be $130. I received a message on Yelp about my photos, and they were willing to fix the nails. However, I don't have the time to go back and redo it. Originally, this review was going to be a negative one, having received the opposite of what I asked for. That when there is a language barrier with the nail tech, there can be a conflict in the outcome. I originally asked for a neon pink color with a matte effect on my own nails. I picked #15 from the black gel menu sitting on the drawer by couch. But when I got home I realized I didn't get the matte effect, but a glossy one. It wasn't until later that night as I turned the lights off to sleep. I noticed my nails looking odd. I decided to take some pictures and soon enough realized that the glow in the dark effect was pretty cool. A week later I'm still admiring them like a kid in a candy shop. Here's the start of my original review, but now irrelevant: My 2nd time here and on Friday 9/13/24 I got Holly without an appointment, around 5:32 p.m. It seemed like there was a steady amount of customers for a Friday night and closing within an hour and a half. I was told wait time might take 10-15 mins. Gave me enough time to decide on this #15 gel color and of matte effect. I got exactly the opposite of what I asked for and I didn't think the color wasn't intense enough even after 3 coatings. Plus I never understand why they never coat all the way to the cuticle and leave this ugly gap, showing the imperfect cleaning or lacking the trimming of the cuticles. I sent them a dm on ig with an inspo pic for a quote and got a response really quick even though it was late night. And the person was very friendly! Price was very reasonable so I went ahead and booked an appointment. I went through the reviews and pictures and saw many raving about Vicky, so I decided to book my mani and pedi with her. Day of I got a call from her asking if it was ok if someone else did my pedi, and I said it was fine. I believe Henry was the one who ended up doing them, and he was great! Onto the mani, Vicky was so sweet and really took her time instead of rushing. She made sure the shape was to my liking, the design, and making sure that the gems are secured. I never expect a nail tech to be able to recreate an inspo pic exactly the same, but I think Vicky really nailed it. On top of that, a few days after, I had a nail emergency (had a nail on the verge of breaking) 2 days before a wedding I needed to attend. I came in and Vicky was happy to help. I wanted to soak off gel x nails and get a gel manicure and walked in hoping to get that done. I walked in no greeting and the place was silent. A lady finally told me to check in and wait. I took a seat on the comfy couch and waited about 20 minutes. I was put with the next available technician and she asked me what I wanted. I asked for a soak off and gel manicure. A lady came over and I asked if they could refill for gel x. She said yes with overlay so I opted for that. I had a broken nail and that was not replaced with a gel ex but replaced with your typical acrylic tip and gel overlay. My first time having gel overlay and the process of it is quite tedious. I spent a good amount of time at the salon. The nail technician that answered my questions was the one that took over my nails. The attention was not as detailed as I noticed once she was done with my nails. It was not a very clean painting of my nails. The edges were very unruly. I also had a fat cut on one of my fingers and she would hold tightly on it without any notice of visible discomfort. They got the job done but I wouldn't consider a return visit. read more

As you can see in the photo, there's a clear gap near the cuticle where the nail separated - and it wasn't just one nail. Hair kept getting caught in the gap, which was super annoying and made them look unclean.
