We ordered takeout so not the full dining experience but from I saw the place looked great with a full patio on this beautiful weekend day (a fairly small restaurant but a fun vibe for sure). We loved the food! First of all, kudos to the team here for the beautiful photos of their food on their menu/Yelp page. I had the chimi with chorizo as it looked good and not something I encounter at all Mexican restaurants. DELICIOUS and I found it even more filling than I anticipated. Stopped into TikiTaco recently and was pleasantly surprised! The ambiance was super cool and perfect for going out with friends or stopping in for a quick taco and drink. What a cute new spot in downtown OP! My husband was invited to a friends and family event here. The decor is bright and fun, with some retro diner vibes. It's definitely a kid-friendly place too. For drinks, I ordered the frozen margarita and my husband had a couple of beers. For food, we had the chips & queso, carne asada burrito, and carne asada nachos. My family and I live in Lenexa and happily drove to both their 39th st. and Troost location before they opened up in old OP, and we couldn't be more thrilled that they are just down the street from us! Crispy beef very good. Typical taco with lettuce and tomatoes. Tasty. Avacado taco was amazing. Reminded me of Huntington Beach Taco on vacation. Al Pastor was good. Don't try it- it tastes nothing like birria. The carnitas street tacos are also bland. The taquitos are basically fried bread with a sliver of meat- it's really an unfair portion and a waste of money. The only thing that was truly delicious was the shrimp taco! This has become my favorite Mexican food restaurant in the KC area - period. The best tacos and tortilla chips I have found anywhere (and that includes Arizona). I have had both their hard and soft shell tacos, including shrimp, carne asada, el pastor, ground beef, and chicken and they were all excellent. And did I mention the tortilla chips? You don't even need nachos, salsa, or queso sauce. I have not tried their burritos, but my wife has tried their avocado and jackfruit tacos and said they were great. The service is also very good. Not a lot of seating, but there is some seating immediately outside. If not at the bar, you need to go to the back and order at the window, then they will bring your food out to you. I have been a fan of TikiTaco for a few years - see my review for the location on 39th street. They opened this location awhile ago but I am slow to write a review. Today I felt it was necessary to do it for a couple of reason. 1- This location is much closer than any other location to my work and home. We need it to stay busy and encourage continued growth for this business. Businesses like this need support to push out the garbage. 2- Stop going to corporate dumpsters like Chipotle & Taco Bell. This place has a unique look and feel with great service. If you have plenty of friends, keep going to the corp places and you will surely reduce the size of that circle of "friends". Real friends don't let friends go to either place. If you love life and desire more meaningful connections, go to TikiTaco and you will have a happier life and people will be drawn to your energy. 3- The food is outstanding - see my review for the other location for more details. Today I had a simple Ground Beef Taco on a Flour Tortilla - it was excellent. I also had something new - Tiki Taquitos (Or Tiki-quitos). These things were a throw back to something you can get @ TacoTime in Utah - they have crisp meat & crisp bean burritos designed to help you forget that you live in a Mormon-dominated hell. Went here tonight with my parents. Still have a little work to do on customer service. The service is extremely attentive to the point of too much for a counter service business. People came by twice to see if they could clear our chips and guacamole while there were still chips in the basket and we were actively eating them. Same with 2 of our entrees. We had the food in our hands to eat and they asked if they could clear our baskets. So while they were overly attentive in a place where it didn't matter, we did get a little irritated because our food came out really quickly and the waitress didn't notice us at first and walked outside and chatted with a table of middle aged guys for at least 5 minutes, as our food was getting cold. She knew that wasn't their food. Aside from that though, I thought the food was quite tasty. I had the avocado taco and the tempura Baja taco with shrimp. My shrimp were overcooked, but the flavors were all great. My dad LOVED his KC burrito and my mom really enjoyed her 2 tacos. Guacamole was good too. I should also mention the space is very bright and cheerful inside. And again, you order at a counter in the back and they give you a number. So definitely a fun place to go with friends. read more

We met some friends there who had been there previously and recommended it. The food was pretty good, but because the walls are ceramic tile and the floor is concrete the place is very noisy. There were some children in there that were pretty loud and their voices echoed. So we didn't like that, but the food was good and we enjoyed that along with seeing friends that we hadn't seen in a while. My wife had three different tacos, one of which was the avocado and it was really good. I had the surf and turf burrito with rice and it was one of the better ones I've had in Kansas City. Not sure we'll be back just because the noise. The outside ordering window is unique and if it would've been a little warmer, we would've sat outside and it would've been just fine.
