We ordered our dinner. We were overcharged for 2 extra items which I'm glad I noticed and had to get a refund. Then almost as if it were taken out on me. They clearly forgot to cook the order. I went up to the register after waiting TWENTY-FIVE minutes and was told it would be up shortly. My receipt shows it was ordered at 7:24 and it's now 8:05 and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY FOOD. On a boring night my girlfriend and I chose to eat at Tijuana flats. Upon walking to this location we noticed the place was pretty dead for a Friday night at 8pm. My girlfriend got chicken flautas with chips & cheese. She was disgusted by it all, the chicken tasted like chemicals (which I can attest to as I took a bite) and was mushy. The chips were undercooked to the point where they were chewy and overly salted...not a great combo. I ordered a steak chimichanga with chips and my chimichanga was barely fried on top of the fact it was missing its sides. Only thing worth coming here for is the cookie dough flautas. Save your money and go to taco bell or Juan's instead. read more

Absolutely unacceptable service from the manager, Jacob Dreiband, at this location (3687 Tampa Rd #203, Oldsmar, FL). I placed an order through the Tijuana Flats website at 10:33 AM. By 11:58 AM, it was still showing "being prepared," so I called the store to check the status. Kayla answered and transferred me to the manager. I explained what was going on and asked if he could see whether a DoorDash driver had been assigned, since the delivery was being handled through DoorDash (even though I ordered via the Tijuana Flats website). I know how this system works -- I worked at Tijuana Flats for 2 years, and I know they have a DoorDash tablet in-store that shows these orders. Jacob claimed he had no way of checking and insisted it was "out of his hands." I explained it again, calmly, but he still refused to even look. So I asked him to cancel the order and issue a refund. He said he'd "take care of it later," which I wasn't okay with. I asked for it to be done immediately, and instead of helping, he argued with me for five minutes. I even told him, "You could have processed the refund by now instead of arguing with me." As someone with 6+ years of restaurant experience, including management, I was shocked at how unprofessional and dismissive he was. When I asked for his first and last name, he hung up on me. I called back five times -- no answer. An hour later, I called again. Kayla picked up. When I asked again for his full name, she hung up too. I called again, and she finally gave me his last name -- with attitude and a long hold. This whole situation was handled with zero care or accountability. As a regular customer, I'm extremely disappointed. I won't be coming back, and I suggest others think twice before ordering from this location. read more

Two Tijuana Bowls, one with ground beef & one with shredded pork, and a Garlic Shrimp Bowl, plus sides to share. Paid and filled our drinks then grabbed a table for five. Came to get some tacos and cookie dough flautas. When my street tacos came out they looked sloppy and one only had 3 pieces of meat on it. This was followed up by my cookie dough flautas which were missing one. The entire time we sat and ate no one checked on us as soon as we ordered they disappeared to the back never to be seen again. We haven't been here in awhile, and Husband wanted tacos and I wanted flautas. The young lady who took our order was very pleasant, and she had our order out quickly. I enjoyed my flautas, but Husband was not happy with his 2 tacos. He called them anemic - not much meat. He gets his tacos at Taco Bell, and said they have much more meat and flavor for less money. I was happy with my flautas. They were delicious and worth the money. Husband said mine looked meatier and more plentiful for the same amount of money. He was right. After eating one of mine, he said it was a lot better than his meal. The ladies' room was clean, and everything was working like it should. It had warm water, soap, toilet tissue, paper towels and a fold out table for baby changing. I liked the saying inside the bathroom ("Saucy is sexy") and the graphic (Gals) on the door leading into the bathroom. This is our third time at this location together. I don't know what we ordered before, but we both were satisfied with our meals. That's why we returned. When I return, it will be with friends or by myself. My husband and I had beef crunchy tacos with chips and guacamole, salsa and queso. The tacos are huge. The are good, but way to greasy. I had so much grease in my pan that I could have filled 1/2 a cup up. They have an area for the wings to put your own sauce on that I had to try even though I didn't get wings. I love spicy foods. There are so many different kinds and different levels of heat to choose from. I loved it. I will be going back to get some wings to put some of the hottest sauce in my wings. ...my mouth waters just thinking about it. I wouldn't say this place is bad because the tacos were good it's just the grease. I should have gotten a different kind of meat. I will be trying them again. It's not a no for me yet. I only left 1 star, because I'm forced to leave one to leave a comment. The store next to me is completely ridiculous. My wife and kids showed up and when we went inside to order, we were told that there were so many online orders that it would take an hour and a half for them to serve the people at the store. So, they were turning away people at the store, because of online orders. However, my wife and I went online to "place an order" and the online app said there was only a 20 minute wait, the manager didn't have much to say after that, other than the app is apparently inaccurate. There were at least 4 tables with people, one table being three people, I know it didn't take them an hour and a half to receive food, nor would it take them an hour and a half to eat, which means they were served. If the people at this particular store can't handle their job, they shouldn't be working there. If the store is so understaffed that they have to refuse service to the people who show up to eat there, because of some online orders, then the company needs to rethink their business strategies and amount of people they keep on the clock. The Good: The crazy cartoonish "Osmosis Jones" art that litters the wall and ceiling. Not sure how it fits with Tex-Mex but I'll give it A+ for effort. The lively and colorful lights give the inside a very upbeat vibe. The food isn't bad. I wouldn't say this is the best Mexican/Tex-Mex I've ever tasted but it meets the average of what you would expect for a small-medium chain like this. It won't blow your mind or leave you disappointed. There's a self-serve hot sauce bar with 15 flavors. Mix and match until to your hearts content. Despite the look of death, I really didn't think any of them were THAT hot. The Bad: Besides the nachos, generous would not a word I would use to describe the portions. I made my two tacos a meal and they gave me a dab of beans and rice. What gives? The staff that asks "is everything okay" every five minutes. This really isn't a bad thing. Some people actually love this but I always get annoyed by an über super attentive or apologetic staff. That's just me and most people would consider this a good thing. The Ugly: I don't know if anyone noticed this but they serve you food on cheap paper plates. The silverware is also plastic. To-go, that's fine, but they should have better stuff that what you'd bring for a picnic. Especially considering the fact this place isn't the cheapest (not the most expensive but two tacos are $7.99 is not what I consider value) Overall, this is my 2nd time here and I'd come here again. They have quite an extensive menu and I love how you can go power lite with reduced fat cheese and sour cream and is still delicious every bite Once you order at the counter, then it is full service at your table They will bring everything to you, even if you are willing and able Now even though we were stuffed and our tummies were saying NO the manager brought us over a HUGE dessert of fried cookie dough And like the chips and salsa it was on the house because we were new even packaging it up to take home since we were too full to chew I highly recommend this wonderful place! This location has really gone downhill lately. The past few times we've ordered takeout and our order has been wrong both times. The first time we were missing something so we called and they told us to come back and get it. The second time we made sure we received everything but when we got home to eat the toppings were incorrect. The taco shells have been stale recently too. Food has gotten really bad. Used to like their enchiladas now they have taken away the cheese and they use stringy shredded chicken. None of this can be blamed on the pathogen. I would have just turned my back and walked away but when I returned in 5 min. to retrieve my mask which I left on my table the greeter at the entrance said it was never found and that the trash was gone through all in 15 seconds. I ordered tacos this past Saturday. When my husband got home with the order I opened it up to the wrong filling in my tacos. I ordered beef and refried bean we got chicken and refried bean. I visited during a lunch break tagging along with my coworkers. Their service is great, very friendly and polite. One employee even oped the door for us. I like that they have diet menues under 500 calories. And also they have so many different sauces including hot sauces of course. It is fun just looking at their sauce bottles because they got funny names on them! The food itself is okay...nothing special about it. I had a craving, so I opted to pop into one of my pre-diet favorites, Tijuana Flats. They've re-vamped the inside, new paint a bit of a different look on the hot bar, but over all it's still the same.. The food is still tasty, made to order and served quickly. The girls who take your order come around and do refills on the sodas too. Since the last time I was in, they've expanded their dessert menu. The food was tasty, the service was quick, If I could eat here more than once a year, I'd be back sooner than later. read more
