Serve with rice and beans, I couldn't finish at all, but I surely wanted to. The service was very friendly and attentive, mostly comfortable atmosphere. Loud patrons, a couple boot away, put a damp around things, but that's not really the fault of the restaurant, just inconsiderate, loud patrons. The only issue I have, is when we walked in the place just kind of smelled funky. They had a couple of candles lit, I think to mask the odor. And I really can't say what it was, but it was across between maybe garbage and trash smell. Aside from the unpleasant smell when you walk in, the food and service was on point. So when I chose a Mexican restaurant for dinner, that may not have been my most strategically brilliant decision. That said, what I did have was quite good. Actually, better than I expected based on the restaurant's overall rating. Aztecas has a nice environment, the staff was friendly, and the food I tried was solid. I just wasn't exactly operating at 100 percent, so I'm willing to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that I might have enjoyed the experience even more under better circumstances. You know it's a rough week when your stomach is the toughest restaurant critic at the table. Still, even with my questionable timing, Aztecas delivered a good meal in a pleasant setting with friendly service. Four stars. The staff is always friendly and quick with the hot food. The chips are fresh, thin and crispy. The salsa has just enough spice to let you know it's there. The queso is solid. The blended margaritas are some of the best I've had and only a step below barrel margaritas. I had arroz con pollo and added a side of beans. I ate part of that night and the rest the next day for breakfast. Yum me. I will return, I recommend you do the same if it's been a while since you've been here. If you've never been here, I recommend going.
