Two reasons this location isn't five stars, and it has nothing to do with the food: 1. The parking lot is truly, terrifically terrible (not exactly their fault) and it's impossible to visit during the lunch rush without circling the lot a dozen times. I'm assuming it's employees taking up all of the spots in back and many of the spots in front are reserved for neighboring businesses. Even for takeaway orders, you have to park to go in and pick it up. Twice I've double-parked in the back to pick up an order because I'm not driving around that tiny lot one more time. It would be AMAZING to order and pay online and have the order brought out to your car. 2. Check your takeaway order before you leave! We've missed a guac or queso more than a few times because of being in a hurry to get out the door. The food is otherwise consistently great and we each have our favorite sauces from the bar. I am glad that you can request a half order of nachos to make a better choice for portions and not waste leftovers, because nachos definitely don't hold up until lunch the next day. read more

First of all, the food is delicious. I eat at this location at least once a week, but I'm starting to get a bit frustrated. The issue I have is that my order is wrong almost as often as it's right. I'm a vegetarian, and today was the the third time in the last few months I've received chicken on my bowl when I didn't order it. Each time, I check my receipt, and my order is correct. It seems to be an issue with whoever is assembling the bowls not paying close attention to the order. A couple of weeks ago the SourCream and cheese was left off completely and I've had other issues to the point that it's become a joke in my household. I normally order takeaway, so I don't notice that the order is wrong until I'm home and eating it. At first I was cool with it because everyone makes mistakes, but it's happening a lot. I've been a fan since they first came to Pinellas County and thrilled when they opened the Largo location. The last two times I've eaten here, I left disappointed. I came for Taco Tuesday and upgraded to steak for a nominal fee. The amount of meat in the taco was about two pencil widths, it was all taco and no protein. The other day I ordered a Chimichanga with chicken and paid extra for the double meat and cheese. When it arrived, it looked quite flat, not like a round burrito. There was a very small amount of chicken and that seemed to be it...all tortilla and a giant waste for $11.00. However this one wasn't as customer friendly & the refried beans were very dry & clumpy as if they had set awhile. No one asked how everything was for us & but seem to ask all around us.. Sad! I like the food if it's done right. But the line needs to be cleaned up because with out fail I always get bits of lettuce and onion in my chimichanga and I hate lettuce and onion. I little have to pick it apart like a surgeon. There is nothing worse than taking a nice bite and you get specifically what you asked not to include. To me those things are overpowering flavor. Great service and really good Tex-mex. I love the variety of sauces and they always seem to be mixing them up some. I had the Chicken flautas and they were a large sized portion. I always have to take a couple of them home. Service was quick even with the place fairly busy. Drink refills were offered at the table. When I want quick Tex-Mex Tijuana Flats is one of the places that I go. We stopped in after running errands on a Sunday. It wasn't that busy which was nice. We ordered a beef chimichanga and Beef tostadas. There is something for everyone on the menu. I like Tijuana Flats because it has open seating and floating waiters or waitresses it is a very relaxed setting. Once we placed our order we were able to pick from their many sauces. It took about 15 minutes for our food to come out which I think is pretty good for being cooked once your order is placed. I would definitely eat here again. read more

I think the Internet has been designed for a generation of complainers. I've been to this place numerous times and each time it has exceeded my expectations. The ambience is what you should expect for a place that serves Mexican food. The employees are always pleasant and the food is always on point. People need to understand that as humans we will make mistakes when fulfilling orders and such. But the basic product here is excellent overall and the employees go above and beyond to make sure that you have what you need. Some people just can't be pleased no matter what. Ignore the negative reviews. My first review was four stars and now five after multiple visits and encounters with the employees. Forget all the other taco places, try this one first. read more

I went here with my grandma earlier (first time ever at a Tijuana) and had a really pleasant experience. Very inviting decor, excellent staff, and the food is delicious ! The Sauce bar is pure glory! Emily is an employee there that works the cashier, she helped my grandma and I during our first Tijuana experience and I really feel like without her I wouldn't have known what sauces to try or what to get on the menu! Ordered online, arrived ten minutes before pickup. Messaged their system five minutes before and then called again 20 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. The lady on the phone told me 5 more minutes, then 30 minutes later we finally go in to see if it's ready yet and it had been sitting there the whole time. Mind you, this entire time the three girls working up front/curbside where checking every car but ours, and standing there talking for the majority of the time. Terrible guest service, employees lack attentiveness, and if you plan to operate a curbside system you should have a more thorough operating procedure in place. Completely awful experience. Wife made an on line order and it took over an HOUR to get 4 tacos!! Girl at the front door was clueless and just kept saying the kitchen was backed up. If that was true why did 15-20 ppl come out before us with to go orders?? If you have someone waiting for food and you know it's been a while why would YOU not be a go getter and go to the manager and be like, hey there is a car that been there for 30 minutes and still doe not have food? My wife went in 3 times and finally said cancel my order because you can't do it on the app. The manager said she has to do it but couldn't right now because she was too busy???? Are you freakin serious!! No offer to make it right just said we are making your tacos right now. An HOUR after putting in the on line order. Short review: Very good food. Great Service. Nice atmosphere. Great sauces. Long review: I walk up and notice it is right across from the mall, great location. When you walk up you open the door, NO they open it for you. Great first impression. Then you wait in line, maybe 1 person in front of you, most of the time none. Then you order and notice they're very friendly. I ordered the taco. Then you notice there are some sauce such as kick my a** and call me Sally. They're very good. No apology at all, told me I should have gone through Uber eats, gave me sour cream and acted like she was doing me a huge favor by getting me "a small half bag" of chips (her words) because apparently the large queso I ordered doesn't come with chips. Worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. Enciladas were made in a corn tortilla that wasn't even heated up. I asked for sides of beans and rice and they came in a little clear plastic cup you would usually get a side of ketchup in. The rice was so cold it must have come right out of the fridge. I didn't know I was suppose to ask for my food cooked. Ended up throwing it all out. 12.00 wasted. It's very overpriced. The only thing I like about this place is the salsa bar. It's kinda cool but why do you need 30 different salsas? They should put more energy in the food not the salsa. Unreal. Why do people come here. This was my second try here. And my last. Right from the get-go we had incredibly friendly customer service. One of the servers ran to open the door for us, because it was pouring rain outside. I've never encountered such nice customer service back home! So happy that they opened up this location. I've been to the one on Belcher Road a couple of times, but this location is much closer to where we normally stay when we are in the area. Food is great, especially love the taco salad! I will admit though, I'm pretty much a wimp when it comes to the hot sauces, and I normally just stick with the ones reserved for sissies. Love Tijuana flats! If your cholesterol will tolerate it EAT HERE OFTEN! I have eaten here quite a bit and love the burritos. The hot sauce bar is a favorite of mine to eat and my daughters to get for me to eat, hahah! She loves to get them and label them on a napkin with the faces that show the level of heat each has. The staff is friendly..... really friendly....almost too friendly. They can be loud and some times interrupt your conversation to be overly excited about asking how your meal is. Don't get me wrong everyone here is beyond good at their job but sometimes it could be dialed down a notch. I go in with a coupon that I printed from the Internet after joining the TF email list. The manager refused to accept it because the bottom was cut off. I cut it off because something got on it and stained. He said that was where the bar code was. The top part was clear that it was a coupon from the TF Internet site. Now, understand that I was a regular customer. What would a good manager do? Accept the coupon anyway because that's how you win over regulars. I've considered that my coupon could have been counterfeit. Unless people are coming in everyday with fake coupons, the customer should get the benefit of the doubt.
