The first time I went to Tijuana Flats was around 2015 and consistently got food from them a couple times a month. Around 2 years ago, I stopped getting food from them because I felt the quality had went down. About a couple months ago, I started going back to them & I'm so happy I gave them another chance. The food & quality is exactly how I remembered it! Great tasting food and love their hot sauce options. Prices are affordable and decent portions. My only complaint is I had received a free bag of chips in addition to my meal but they tasted a little stale. I don't really eat chips so was not a big deal. I cannot believe it took me almost 11 years to try Tijuana Flats! Tacos and burritos are not usually my first choice food wise but my husband has been bugging me to order from here. Ironic enough, I tried this right before there was a YES event at other Tijuana locations! We stopped in here after our ophthalmologist appointment and we were starving. I did not recall ever checking out their menu so I needed a couple of minutes to review before ordering. I decided on the Bangin Chicken Burrito and hubs ordered the Chicken Tinga Burrito. We also decided on the queso to try. They were really busy so we decided to sip on some beers while we waited for our food. While we were standing outside, there were plenty of people entering and exiting the restaurant. I would not expect a place like this to be so busy on a Saturday afternoon. I believe we were told our food would be about 10-15 minutes. A staff member brought our food out to us, which we were not expecting! Very nice touch! We headed back inside anyway to grab some sauces from the sauce bar. There were several sauces to choose from but I imagine there were way more before COVID. We then left to finish our beers outside. This place is dingy and nasty. The bathrooms are dirty, there's no AC, the floors are filthy and the personnel are a bunch of young kids who really just don't care. The food tasted like as mediocre. I'm usually see her on Tuesdays which is when they do taco Tuesdays. On Tuesdays you get to Tacos, a side of chips, and a soda all for roughly $7. It is honestly an amazing deal because the size of the tacos are insane, they reach from one end to the other end of the to-go containers they put the food in. You got your choice between hard or soft shell tacos, which I always get soft shell because I love their flour tortillas very much. I usually get the blackened chicken, which is blackened and has a perfect crisp without the chicken being dried out and I get the lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and jalapenos on the top and it makes the taco just phenomenal! The chips are honestly some of the best I have ever had as well, with them always being fresh, never stale, and they have the perfect crunch to them! Mix it with their salsa and it's an out-of-this-world Delight. They also put a seasoning on the tacos and it is amazing, I can't pinpoint what it is exactly but it definitely rounds out the flavor wonderfully. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for food, and the best part is you can order ahead on their site or on their app and they also offer curbside pickup if you want to minimize contact as much as you possibly can! The staff is all so insanely friendly as well and very attentive! They also have a salsa bar with over 20 different Salsas, all of which range from sweet to absolutely insanely hot that you need to sign a waiver. Dropped in for a quick order and pick up this week. This location is tucked behind in the corner of a strip mall. Parking was a little challenging because it was crowded dinner hour, but they have spots reserved in front for pick up and curb side which is convenient! I recommend ordering online and doing a pick up. They offer curbside service and will bring your food out to the car if you don't feel like going in to get your food. The online ordering system is super easy and detailed so you can simply add or remove any topping or side conveniently. This way you know exactly what is going on your food and there is no guessing game or writing in the comments and hope they see it. So great! I ordered the chicken chimichanga and a side of refried beans. I opted for no combo since I didn't need a drink and it was a little cheaper that way. I appreciate that they put the pico and lettuce in a separate container for a to go order. This way it didn't make the food soggy and wet and I didn't come home to eat hot lettuce...yuck! Appreciate the extra packing step! I arrived and my food was done on time as promised. Staff was super helpful in finding my order quickly and got home and it was still hot which is always a good thing! Tijuana Flats is my favorite go to food place! I'm honestly not surprised that people love it so much. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Usually when I order food from here I order a wide variety of things for my family and I. I usually order the Tijuana Bowl which I modify to my liking. I usually have ground beef, refried beans, rice, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce etc. It's extremely filling and it's great as leftovers. You can also add more beans or meat for a little extra charge. I love to pair the main part of my meal with an add on of a taco. These tacos aren't sparsely filled like other places tend to do and the best part is that the hard shell tacos rarely ever get soggy or messy. They usually throw in a generous amount of chips which I can eat that alone as a nice snack because the chips are so addictive! Their chicken and steak flautas are the actual best. I love introducing people to flautas for the first time. You can't go without ordering these! Don't even get me started on their cookie dough flautas. Those are excellent if you find yourself with some room left in your stomach and if you have a sweet tooth. Very soft and perfect when they are freshly warm. I placed my order on the website and it was sitting on a table when I arrived. I brought home the food and it needed to be heated up. I had never eaten beef flautas or any flautas ever before. I was in the mood to try something new and I'm glad I did. I was really impressed with these. They are delicious and I love the cheese dip with it. It is Simply Delicious. I also had some of the trio which is chips with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. I think Tijuana Flats guacamole is fair. It is not a favorite but compliments the meal nonetheless. As entree we ordered chicken fajitas bowl; it came with black beans and rice, onions , bell peppers & avocado . Flavor was good chicken was moist very well balanced plate. I ordered the vaquero plate which came with a piece of skirt steak , bbq baby back ribs rice and beans. Ribs were good, rice and beans however though the skirt steak was very small and it lacked flavor. It was juice but it needed to be flavor and seasoning . Vibe is good, decoration definitely needs attention even though it's a Mexican food restaurant it's a bit cluttered and CAN someone REMOVE the Xmas lights OFF. If you're looking for decent Tex-Mex, this is a good place to start. From burritos to chimichangas they probably have something you'll like and it's at a fair price. Also, a lot of hot sauce, and I mean a lot. As for the place, it's always clean when I go, I've never had an issue with cleanliness there. The staff are pretty friendly, I've never had someone be rude to me there either. Ordering pretty easy online, I prefer it because it's usually ready in 20 mins and I don't have to bother waiting in line and then wait on my food to be cooked. The food overall is 7-8/10. It's not the kind of Tex-Mex you regret eating the next morning. Although, sometimes they forget to add things, which has only happened once but I had a chimichanga that only had steak and cheese on the inside. Some how they forgot the lettuce, onions, jalapeños. The problem is, it's not like McDonald's where you can just look in the bag and go ok there's all my stuff. You gotta break that thing in half and realistically you're not gonna do that with take out and by the time you get home, you don't want to drive back. What can I say I've been to so many Tijuana Flats and I love the flavor and friendliness of their staff members at all locations. This location in particular has been very helpful. Running around busy I looked up this Tijuana Flats on Yelp and headed right over. The kids were a bit rowdy and they had curbside. They brought everything to the car food, sauce, drinks, and a device so that I can make my payment car side. The best part about Tijuana Flats are their flavorful beans, and their constant promotions! For example, all summer long kids eat free on Sundays! Also, there's always a treat for nurses, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and teachers. They're very community friendly and offer donations for charity organizations to the purchases of certain sauces. My baby sat in their high chair, which wasn't the cleanest, but after a quick wipe down she enjoyed their black beans and a chicken quesadilla. She was also dancing all dinner to their playlist. They also have a large sauce bar that ranges from sweet to ghost pepper, so you should be able to find somethign you like. The parking at this location is great, it is in a strip mall so there is always a ton available. It is easy to get to since it is right on stirling and douglas. The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is friendly. After you order at the counter, they serve you and refill your drinks at your table so that is nice. They also have indoor and outdoor seating. As far as the actual food goes, I really enjoy it, and so do my picky kids. Everything tastes fresh, and we have never had a bad experience. Several staff members made rounds to tell check in on us to see if we needed everything, 5 stars there! The food however was just ok. Nothing special or memorable. We got the dip trio, blackened chicken bowl and beef chimichanga. The chicken and rice were dry in the bowl. Not much meat in the bowl. The beef in the chimichanga was moist and had a lot of flavor. I didn't realize it came with queso as well, I guess I didn't read the menus clear enough or I wish the person would have told us it had came with queso because I ended up spending $2.99 on queso which we didn't use much. I am not quite sure if I would've prefer all the condiments inside or not because I felt it was missing something. I do like dipping it the sweet chili sauce rather then the queso but I think that's just my preference. Tijuana Flats is a great place for Mexican fast food. I absolutely love their steak flautas, they're perfect crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and I usually get mine with queso and guac on the side to dip them in. The steak is seasoned perfectly. All their entrees come with chips on the side and there is a huge bar with lots of sauces to choose from. Sauces range from mild to super hot ghost pepper. 8-8-17 so me and the family decided to get takeout on taco Tuesday. I've been here at least 20 different times but today's quality was very poor and on top of that they no longer have my favorite Salad with seasoned dolphin on it that comes in a tortilla shell. See my previous post). They now have "cod" Salad? What's next Bassa fish? We are in Florida why would you take away Mahi Mahi / Dolphin? Only reason is to reduce cost and provide a cheaper product. So I went with the chicken taco special on wheat tortillas. The chicken that came with it appeared to be cheap Costco bagged frozen chicken breast that was boiled in a crockpot with red colored water and tasted nasty. What happened to nice seasoned grilled chicken breast diced up? It was a type of taco that you had to open it t inspect the meat before you take a bite and rip out fatty weird chunks. I was totally disappointed and only ate half of the two tacos. My kids had cheese quesadillas, which those are hard to mess up and my wife had the meat tacos which she said were fine. But overall after being a longtime loyal customer I'm disappointed that my Favorite Dolphin Salad is gone which forced me to order the chicken tacos which ended up tasting like crap.
