    Shrimp Quesadilla Especial
    Julie Ying X.

I came here on a Saturday with my family for lunch. The place is large with spacious booths. I admit that I come here for the complimentary chips and salsa. Everyone gets their own cup of fresh salsa and the chips are always fresh. It's an extra $1 if you want more salsa but the one cup is usually more than enough for me. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla especial (mushrooms, lettuce, guacamole). My family ordered the chicken burrito and steak cancun (steak stir-fried with vegetables over Mexican rice). The portions were large and the food is fresh. Service is a bit lacking since it's hard to get a waiter most of the time but other than that, it's a solid place for Mexican food.

    Small Mexican Pizza

Ole Ole has been around for over 20 years; so I don't know why it took me so long to do a review. It is located in central Plantation, right next to the Broward Mall. The prices are very reasonable, there is plenty of free parking, it has a full bar and cute, colorful decor. First of all, it is one of the few Mexican restaurants that still gives you unlimited chips and salsa! And we're not talking the kind you buy at the store. They are homemade and delicious. We had to limit ourselves to just one basket because we did not want to spoil our dinner. They have pages of Mexican and Tex-Mex specialties from appetizer portions to full combo meals. At my recent visit, I ordered the small Mexican pizza. It is one of my favorite things to get there, I have never tried the large because the small is more than enough for one person, and it's only $13. It comes loaded with ground beef, cheese, tomatoes, scallions, and green peppers. The crust was crispy and delicious. My husband ordered the taco salad with grilled chicken. He said it was really good; but could have used a bit more dressing. (He added lots of salsa to it.). The margaritas were just $7. I can't say enough about how fast the service was. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our server, Josue, approached the table as soon as we sat down. Drinks and dinner all came out quickly, plus Josue came by to check on us often. If you haven't been to Ole Ole you should give it a try. Consistently good service and food plus reasonable prices!

We have been going here for years and the food is very good! The place is an average Mexican style restaurant decor wise. Plenty of seating (booths and tables) and a small bar area serving up fresh or frozen margaritas. This is a very casual style restaurant. The bartenders and servers are always nice and friendly. The food is spot on and doesn't disappoint. They have a pretty extensive menu (Mexican and Cuban) and we are partial to the shredded beef enchiladas (with black beans instead of refried) and their Lechon Asado. Their chips/guacamole/salsa/pico de gallo are all made in house and super fresh.

First visit. We were seated right away. It's a specious space with plenty of seating. They offer Mexican and Cuban dishes. For drinks, we started with a classic mojito and wine. For our main dish, we shared steak fajitas for two. Perfect portion for two. Service was great and quick. I would like to try the Cuban dishes on my next visit.

Wanted to get Mexican food for taco Tuesday and Ole Ole seemed like a spot that wasn't too busy or with a wait so decided to give it a try in the Plantation area. Upon entering, I enjoyed how the tables were on a second floor inside (a rarity for South Florida). Once seated, we ordered margaritas which were definitely the highlight! They were quite strong which really made them a great value and would highly recommend. The chips and salsa came to the table and was delicious, we ordered a side of guacamole to go with it. For an entree, I ordered the shredded chicken burrito. I feel the chicken was a bit too plain and unseasoned which was a bit disappointing, however the cheese on top, the refried beans and the rice was all excellent. I would definitely come back to Ole Ole at some point soon to try something different on the menu

We love it here! Our onto family night out. The best salsa and giving it to you individually is great! My hubby does enchiladas and I go for the the fajitas. This time me and my daughter shred the 3 combo fajitas for two... yum. Always friendly staff. Super cute decor. Large bar area for happy hour get together.

Popped in for a quick bite and wasn't disappointed! My friend and I both ordered the steak fajitas. It was very flavorful and the portion size was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and gracious. The place itself could use a little updating, but that doesn't bother me as long as the food is good! Great spot to come to after a long day of shopping at the Broward mall.

    Pork chunks (masa de puerco)

My mom and I went today for a yummy Cinco de Mayo lunch and we were pleased. She ordered a masa de puerco (pork chunks) with black beans and rice, and I ordered a lunch portion beef chimichanga that came with rice and refried beans. I'm not a super fan of refried beans but these were flavorful. The chimichanga was delicious and just enough for a quick bite. Service was friendly and the decor was really fun. Will definitely return!

We've been living here for five years and last night I finally tried Ole Ole, I'm glad I did. I took a seat at the bar and was given a basket of chips and salsa and ordered a margarita. I was very happy with the margarita Ole Ole puts a good amount of tequila into their drinks. The chips were warm but the salsa could have been spicier. The bartender was very attentive and I ordered a fajita. Grilled chicken and vegetables served with guacamole, salsa, sour cream and warm flour tortillas. The fajita was perfect and just as I like it. The interior is decorated like a Mexican cantina providing the perfect atmosphere. Go give Ole Ole a try. I'll be back as I think this will be my new go to Tex-Mex joint.

Full snow crab quesadilla with cheese, tomatoes and spicy pepper

.I finally stopped in for lunch after it was renovated. It has an upbeat happy atmosphere and was pretty busy on a weekday. Lots of groups and everyone seemed happy to be there. I was seated immediately and given the menu. I asked for water with ice and she brought it out asap with the warm tortilla chips and salsa. I always appreciate getting my water quickly! I started looking at the menu. It mostly had the standard Tex Mex food and drinks, but they did have a few specialties that are different, They also offer Happy Hour drinks and food! I decided to try something I have not tried before anywhere. Crab Quesadilla - $16.50 - Flour tortilla with cheese, snow crab, tomatoes and chili strips. The basic quesadilla was good, as was the snow crab. (lots of snow crab!!!). However, it had very spicy chills inside which I did not expect. Perhaps adding that in the description would be more informative. It also had oddly cut chunks of tomatoes. Without the chills (which I took off) it was rather bland. Snow crab has such a delicate flavor that the chilis overwhelmed it and the tomatoes didn't add anything. In my opinion, I think it would have been better with a mix of monterey jack and pepper jack cheese. Add finely chopped green onion, chopped green chilis and then maybe diced tomatoes. Then serve it with sour cream and salsa and avocado on the side. But everyone has their own recipe. So I would return and try the happy hour, but I wouldn't order the snow crab quesadilla again.

My waitress Jessica was super sweet and helped me pick out the best margarita and meal. The bar has a lot of regular which I live. The decor is cute and gives Mexico!! Now the food. I have not had a meal so good in many years. From the rice to the refried beans. Tastes like someone's abuela is in the kitchen. Now for the star, the ground beef soft taco. I never knew it could taste so good. The food tastes very fresh . Thanks to the chef for putting love into the food at Ole Ole!!

We were shopping at the mall and decided to swing by this restaurant for Happy Hour. To our surprise this Tex-Mex is very authentic. We were able to find a seat very quickly at the bar. We were served with a basket of warm chips and a big serving of salsa. We ordered Chimichanga and appetizers. We really enjoy sitting and eating at the bar, the bartenders were very friendly.

    1 Taco & 1 Enchilada Combination Dinner

It'd been years since I last visited but after coming recently I realized I'd been missing out. While they fall more into the Tex-Mex category rather than authentic, there's something delicious on the menu for all Mexican food lovers. As soon as you sit down you're welcomed with warm chips & each person is given a personal serving of salsa to hold you over. However, I've learned from experience to take a minute with them because they're almost too delicious to stop eating. Be warned. If you keep eating, they'll keep coming. Although I'm more of a street taco fan, there's just something so perfect about the crunchy tacos they serve here. They're filled generously with whatever protein you choose & somehow taste better with each bite. The puffiness of the shell combined with the perfect fry makes for a pretty unique taco. Their pricing is great for the size of the portions, as well. The combo platters are the way to go because you also get your fix of rice & refried beans. There's plenty of seating but it can get busy at dinner time on the weekends; they take reservations so that's a plus. Service is usually quick & solid but sometimes it'll get slow when it really shouldn't. The food, however, always comes out piping hot. If you're ever in the mood for some cheap, delicious Mexican then this place will satisfy your cravings.

Sidecar Speakeasy was the play... The speakeasy entrance was hidden in a hallway you can walk right by without even noticing. I dig it. Once inside, it's dark. Most of the light is coming from the light showcasing the bottles in the bar. The seating is a little tight as they're trying to maximize space for such a small area. We visited here twice during my visit: We sat at a table and a bar. You have the perfect amount of space for your party, but you're pretty close to the next table or bar seat. No claustrophobic vibes though. All the mixologists were great during both visits. One visit, we ordered their signature cocktails from the menu. When we sat at the bar, we had the mixologist surprise with a cocktail off the menu. He just asked what kind of liquor vibe we wanted, and he took it from there. He was super creative with every cocktail which made for a great time. They stayed upon until midnight one one visit and until 1 am on the other one. Both my visits were on a weekday. I can confidently say they delivered on one of those things, the experience. Unfortunately, the food felt like a failed attempt to escape... an escape room. Let's start with what absolutely works. The location is stunning. Truly breathtaking. The views are spectacular, the atmosphere is elegant, and the setting makes you feel like you have unlocked a premium level of Fort Lauderdale nightlife. The service is upscale and unhurried. No one rushes you, no one pressures you, and you are encouraged to linger and enjoy the moment. From a vibe perspective, you are winning. The drink menu is limited, but what they offer is top notch. Well crafted, balanced, and enjoyable. Think of the drinks as the first puzzle you solve successfully. Confidence is high at this point. Then the food arrives, and this is where the escape attempt starts to fall apart. We began with the bruschetta, which was absolutely dominated by balsamic. Not gently accented. Not thoughtfully drizzled. This was a full-scale balsamic ambush that completely overwhelmed the dish. Puzzle one failed. Next came the octopus. Perfectly cooked. Tender. Juicy. Textbook execution. Unfortunately, the flavor was nowhere to be found. Every bite was completely hijacked by the beans in the dish, leaving the octopus feeling like a background prop in its own plate. Puzzle two failed, morale dropping. Then came the calamari and mussels. Once again, the seafood was cooked properly, but flavor had clearly escaped through a hidden exit. Bland, forgettable, and confusing in how something prepared this well could taste like so little. Puzzle three failed, clock ticking. The fourth dish was the caprese salad, which somehow managed to swing in the opposite direction of the bruschetta. The tomatoes tasted like they were fresh from a grocery store shelf. The balsamic barely showed up this time, as if it had used up all its energy earlier. The mozzarella sat there watery and bland, contributing nothing and offering no clues. Final puzzle failed. Escape attempt unsuccessful. By the end of the meal, I felt like I had just spent two hours in an escape room where everything looked incredible, the staff was friendly, the room design was flawless, but none of the puzzles worked and you never actually escaped. Overall, Escape Rooftop Bar delivers breathtaking views, excellent service, and strong drinks. But the food turns the entire experience into a beautifully designed trap. When expectations are sky high and the kitchen cannot deliver, the disappointment hits harder. Two stars, awarded for the scenery, the cocktails, and the hope that one day the food finds the exit.
