This review actually makes me super sad because I used to come here years ago all the time. Love their salsa and their guac. Luckily they're salsa and guac hasn't changed and it's still delicious, but that was the only thing good about my meal. Service was absolutely horrendous. We finished an entire basket of chips before our drinks came. I ordered a chicken quesadilla since I was literally craving one all day. When it came, it was cold. I ordered the quesadilla that came with guac on the side (this is important for later.) I told my waitress kindly and she rudely took the plate from me. I know restaurants usually just remake the entire thing because it's not good warmed up. About 10 minutes later it came back and it was just reheated and the grease was all over the plate. And the guac that came on my plate from earlier was also warm and turned a color so they just added more guac on top of it. Our drinks were never refilled and we had to ask another waitress for more chips. We asked for more salsa and our waitress finally brought it to us pretty much when we were done with our meal. When we got the check, we didn't know that for refills of salsa it was a dollar each. Our waitress never told us that. We would've been completely fine with it if she let us know. Then she grabs the paper menu to give to my mom and says that it says it here and usually we tell the customers but we don't do that anymore. Then she says do you want to speak to a manager? Unfortunately, I really I love Ole Ole but today I am giving 1 star because I believe that you should treat others the way you want to be treated. So since they treated me like crap today I will return the favor. I came in for the event they were holding at the restaurant today. I decided that I was going to sit at the bar and relax. I sat down and never received any acknowledgment from the bar tender, after 10 minutes, I received a menu, He mumbled some words, and then he walked away again. I got up because I guess I was a bother to him. So I asked to be seated at a regular table. I guess I interrupted the hostess's phone time because the eye roll came and I said that I'd been sitting without an acknowledgment from the bartender. So didn't take the hint and threw my menu at a table and went back to her phone at the house stand. My server Sian, same thing. Sat down was ignored for a bit, then asked if I knew what I wanted. No introduction, no talking about the specials...nada. I am by myself so it felt that I was not of any value to them. Not 1 time During my lunch did my server ask how anything was, wouldn't make eye contact, nothing. I felt worthless. Several times he walked by without a word. I can't believe that I haven't been to this Plantation staple as an adult, but I'm glad that I made up for it! My friend and I were trying to look for somewhere new to eat on a Friday night, and we both decided on Ole Ole. It seemed pretty packed, but we were able to be sat right away, and a very nice booth. The inside is decorated with very TexMex decorations, but also the menu mentions that it is crossover between Mexican and Australian? Our server was very attentive, and came back to check on us a lot. We got free chips and salsa, the salsa was amazing! So fresh and delicious. We ordered queso to share, and it was probably one of the best that I've ever tried. For my meal, I ordered the buffalo wings, which is a random choice for a Mexican restaurant, but I was really craving them. The sauce was a mix between buffalo and barbecue, but it was actually really good, and the chicken wings were cooked exactly the way I like them, which is crispy. My friend ordered the chicken nachos for her meal, and they were served in the traditional way, which is individual chips. Topped with chicken and cheese. The chicken was a little bit dry, but it still had decent flavor. We both ordered the fried ice cream to share, and unfortunately, it was a little disappointing. I actually came here when I was in the mood got a good lumch a little bit before the COVID-19 Precautions began. Service was excellent and we were seated instantly and had our orders in and our food was ready for us in such a quick span of time. Threw me off as I'm usually not use to that but I guess the place being somewhat empty contributed to the quickness! I ended up ordering the two tacos meal which came with a side of mexican rice and refried beans. The tacos were a nice portion, I couldn't finish because it was so filling! The tacos were rich in flavor, I was glad to get the hard shell tacos with ground beef as it was the perfect combination. I was quite surprised with the rice because at other mexican cuisine restaurants it's a bit of a hit or miss. This place though did it right as the rice was perfectly flavored and thoroughly cooked. The refried beans were pretty good and the mix of the beans with the rice was delicious. I could easily have some chips with the beans alone as a little appetizer! Ole' Ole' opened in 1989. It's owned by Santos Blanco and his wife Corina who is the chef. Other family members fill positions in the restaurant, son Wilson White is the general manager. Everything they serve is made in house fresh every day. Located on the outskirts of the mall, I have been coming here for a good portion of the 30 years they have been open. The food is reasonably priced and you can feel the homey vibe here. My most recent visit was for a family dinner. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. We wished they had a spicier salsa option. For dinner my daughter and I ordered the chicken taquitos served with beans and rice. Other dishes ordered were the wild tostada and the fish tacos. Dinner for four was around $50 and you can't beat that. Portions are generous and there were leftovers to go home. Although we didn't order it this time, I love their fried ice cream. Coming here is like visiting an old friend to me. They have weekday lunch specials and two for one drinks during happy hour Monday through Friday 11:30 AM to 6:30 PM. read more

We always seem to see it full of people and figured it must be good. So we decided to visit tonight. It was disappointing. It seemed like perhaps it was owned by the same owner as La BaMBA. Apparently not. The fish tacos had no flavor. The burrito meal was smaller than the same at LA BAMBA and the rice was actually pretty terrible. The food was served pretty warm and not too hot. The salad we ordered wasn't provided with dressing. A minor nuisance to have to wait for the waitress to walk by sometime later to have to ask for dressing. The chips were fresh and crispy. We started devouring them as soon as they were placed on the table. They will bring you a refill of chips & salsa if you ask which, of course, we did! I ordered the Bistec de Palomilla which came with white rice & black beans and plantains. Although the steak and rice & beans could have used a little seasoning, I still enjoyed my meal because I added salt which solved that problem. My steak was so VERY tender! I've never had it that tender when I've ordered the Bistec de Palomilla from here. My husband ordered a beef burrito with shredded beef which came with yellow rice and refried beans. He loved his meal and ate all of it! My daughter ordered a chicken enchilada and asked for extra cheese inside the enchilada so it was really cheesy and gooey. It looked really yummy. Ole Ole is one of my go to full service Mexican restaurants and has been for many years. It is in a great central Broward location. Their food is fresh and very good. I love their tuna dip. It is very smooth and with the chip, this is my perfect appetizer. I also order the steak fajitas. They are not greasy and the steak can be cooked any way you prefer. The fresh sliced veggies are very good and full of flavor. The fajita sides even include guacamole and sour cream. Service is sometimes pretty slow but at this dining experience it was quick and efficient. They have excellent loaded chicken nachos and the cheese is super melty. The plus side here: great service and fast delivery. Prices are very reasonable compared to other places. Food portions are on the large side. Nice rice. They have a few specials which are normally posted at the front of the restaurant. Plenty of parking and a good spot to go if you are at Broward Mall or the surrounding area. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the host who took us to our seats. Then we met our waitress who was kind, helpful, and very accommodating. The restaurant also shows authentic Mexican culture with their decor which includes beautiful paintings around the restaurant. Each table gets complementary salsa and unlimited tortilla chips during your time. We ordered the Caribbean margarita, Mexican peach margarita, and passion fruit margarita to start. These drinks were strong and reasonably priced; hence why we ordered 2 rounds of drinks lol. We also ordered the tuna dip appetizer which was amazing. I'm not a big fan of tuna but this dip has me hooked. It was creamy with hints of garlic and cilantro with a nice little spicy kick. We ordered the chicken chimichanga and bistec de palomilla as our entree, and it was great! The noise level in this place was horrendous!!!!!! People packed at tables way to close to each other, people yelling across their tables to be heard by their companions!!! I recently went to Ole Ole before everything became locked down and take out only or closed. When I went, it was rather empty because of everyone becoming scared of the virus that has happened, but there were a few tables that were filled with people. Outside, there is a nice amount of parking and you probably wont ever have a problem trying to find a spot because there are so many!   Inside, the hostess quickly seated us and out server came over almost immediately afterwards. The tables are rather close together and I felt like I was on top of the person at the table next to us but that didn't affect me much once I stopped thinking about it. The server brought over chips and salsa to the table along without drinks and let me say that the salsa was some of the best homemade salsa I have had in a very long time. For my meal, I opted for the burrito and enchilada platter, which came with refried rice and beans as well. I had a cheese enchilada, which, oh my goodness, was perfect. The tortilla was insanely fresh and there was a perfect amount of cheese in it. Along with the sauce on top, the enchilada was one of the best I have had in a very long time. The burrito was insane in size as well. I got the ground beef in it and the beef was seasoned perfectly. There was cheese smothering it but that didn't take away any of the amazing flavor that was being combined in it!   The rice was seasoned perfectly and had bits of red and green pepper in it and gave it a nice little peppery flavor without making it spicy at all. The refried beans were good, but they weren't the best, to me, they were average refried beans. I have had better at other places, but these were still pretty good! The prices are very nice for the amount food you get, and I couldn't finish the burrito, so I ended bringing it home because of the size of it. Was craving some food and found this place. I ordered a steak with onions rice,beans, and plantains. and I also tried the steak burrito with rice and refried beans. The onions were supposed to be sautéed on top of the steak but it was just dry and chopped up into pieces. The food came in good timing, and was good but needed to be more seasoned. I also tried their salsa dip it was a little bit watered down, but I ordered the queso dip it was actually really good. I had sangria it was really delicious and sweet with apples and bananas inside as fruit. Inside there is a lot of seating, I sat in an area where there were two rows of seating I am a firm believer in not being too close to the table because I like privacy. 7/8/2017 - LUNCH REVIEW My mom wanted to eat Mexican food so this was close to my place. I have never been here as I'm not a lover of Mexican food if it's not authentic. It is a huge restaurant. We were greeted and seated on a booth on the upper part of the restaurant. There are TV's all over. We got to see the women's softball team Puerto Rico vs. USA. Andrea was our server. She was attentive and very friendly. My mom and I decided to order the fajitas for one, even though it was two of us. We knew it was going to be a big portion. Andrea said she would put an extra tortilla so we would have 2 each. Even with 2 each, there was plenty of chicken and steak left. There were your basic fajitas. She also brought us chips and salsa. Everyone's taste is different but they're salsa is chunky and mild but extremely flavorful They have all the traditional Mexican dishes as we know it. A wide variety of drinks. Place is nice they have a nice bar and it's very upbeat. Service is very good they keep your drinks full and are very attentive even when they are busy. This restaurant must have changed management in the last six months or so, because they are suddenly serving food that is significantly tastier than it was before! They now serve a delicious and fresh salsa with their chips.. in my opinion it's tastier than the mild salsa from La Bamba! Also, I enjoy the quality of the chip that they serve. I generally go during lunchtime, and they have a solid lunch menu. My personal favorite (pictured) is the chimichanga! The chicken inside is flavorful and moist, and the do a nice job with the frying! The only thing I could do without is their rice, it's just very meh. Other items that I have tried and like include their crab nachos and their house tuna dip! My friend also swears by their Cobb salad. Perhaps I will be more adventurous the next time I made it out and try some of their other offerings! Oooo... This place is similar to your average Chili's. Random Mexican decor on the wall (including ladders which I though was quite interesting and puzzling). We were sat and given menus and waited a good 10-15 minutes to be greeted by our server i noted the place was not busy at all. Perhaps 5 tables at most were seated at section that sat 15-20 tables. Once she came we had our entire order ready. A few minutes later our order arrived--plates blazing hot. I ordered the fish tacos that came with rice and refried beans. I was excited. And it was taco Tuesday. To my dismay the tacos were terrible. Nasty (hate to use the word) Tasting fish that when I opened the taco to see was grey!!! Not fresh or in edible condition at all!! I'm actually upset to write this review because I've been going to ole ole for over 20 years . This is my go to comfort restaurant . What keeps me coming back is the food, ambiance , and consistency. I'm only writing this so they can hopefully see the potential for growth in service and food quality. As I've mentioned earlier as a regular I'm usually waited on by the same server but last night was different which is ok too. We were seated with Luis D., he was pleasant enough. When our meal came, my usual was the same as it always is good, but my guests meal was not . My guest ordered a medium rare hamburger, it came out well done. It was sent back. What we received back is unlike anything I've ever seen at any restaurant. Not only was the server gloating when he brought it back but this is clearly a health violation. Not ok by any means. We were nearby & decided to stop in for dinner. The décor was typical Mexican restaurant & not particularly interesting. The food was good and the service was excellent though! The waiter was attentive and stopped by our table several times during our visit. We asked for a pitcher of water and some additional salsa, and he quickly brought our items. The complimentary chips and salsa were better than average because the chips were fresh and not overly salty. The salsa had a mild spiciness and was flavorful. We ordered a chicken chimichanga, a chicken burrito, and a chili relleno & enchilada combo. They all came with the usual yellow rice & refried beans. The rice could have used more seasoning. The beans seems a bit overdone and just a glob of bean mush. My wife ordered black beans instead of the refried beans, and she was pleased with the taste and texture of the black beans. We were pleased to see that our meals consisted of white meat chicken and plenty of it. In fact, the portion sizes are fairly big. The only downside is that the filling in the entrees consisted pretty much of the chicken and very little else. For example, the burrito contained no peppers, onions, beans, or rice ... just shredded chicken. Seemed lacking in ingredients, although in their defense, the restaurant's menu didn't specifically mention other ingredients. It just would have added to the depth to the flavor and completeness of the meals. Overall, though, we did enjoy the food and would go back to Ole Ole. The prices are reasonable and the combos seem like a particularly good value (if you are hungry!) read more
