I have been coming to TF for a number of years and find their food is constantly good. I never had a bad dinner here. The tacos are large and filled with what you want in them. They do have a number of other entrees on the menu that are delicious. This is a counter service restaurant but don't let that stop you. The food is excellent and the attendants are friendly. Several days a week they have a special each day. On Thursday they have a burrito, chips and a drink for $7.99. I ordered a beef burrito. When it arrived I was shocked at how massive it was!! I ordered beef, but got chicken. I also ordered the cilantro rice, but got the other choice so all around they gave me the opposite of everything I asked for. Oh, well. You can also get the burrito as a bowl instead of the tortilla. I might do that next time, but no problem, I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Unfortunately, the chips are super salty and even tho they have a ton of sauces most are pretty hot. I appreciate that they bring the food to the table and clear it afterwards, so between that and the food prep, a tip is warrented. read more

First time at this eatery. Based on the menu and prices, a meal here is about the same as Taco Bell, but the food is way better. We were a trio and after carefully considering the menu, we all decided to get the same thing - a lime shrimp bowl. Each of us thought it was absolutely delicious! The stand where you could pour your own sauce was super interesting, so we definitely tried it out. Bottom line, no more Taco Bell. We shall return here instead. read more

I noticed there are a few Tex-Mex restaurants in the area, but Tijuana Flats is a hidden gem. The food is fresh and delicious and made to order. If you like spicy, they have plenty of spice that you may flavor. Tijuana Flats is located in Cary in a Harris Teeter Shopping Center so that means plenty of parking. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside of the restaurant is very colorful and I loved all of the messages on the walls. I came here for a Yelp Event but got a shrimp bowl to go. I was very impressed with the service here as my name was remembered from my first order. Then when i was asked what ingredients I didn't want on it, I forgot to exclude an item but I did notice that she excluded it for me as she remembered from earlier. The place was hopping so I found that very impressive that she remembered. I really loved the shrimp bowl. I ate it cold as I didn't want to reheat some of the ingredients but it was delicious with all the flavors. I will return and have the dish as it was intended to be eaten warm. read more

Came here as part of a Yelp promotion and I'm pretty happy I did. Brought a plus one and split the steak flautas and chicken flautas that were featured for this event. The quantity was large and came with a good amount of condiments complimentary like guac, pico, Queso, and the self-serve hot sauce bar. The food was decent. The chips and hot sauce bar were the highlights. I enjoyed the food but it didn't blow me away or anything. Def worth checking out as a change up from the usual moes/chipotle. I attended a Yelp Elite event with a friend at this location. I enjoyed the colorful and warm atmosphere, plus the music is entertaining (keep the playlist on rotation please). Take a moment to look at the ceiling tiles when you visit Tijuana Flats. The creatively designed tiles add personality to the location. The Elite event included two flautas, two drinks and an appetizer. The flautas here are tasty and filling. The entree came with pico, sour cream, guacamole, queso and tortilla chips. My personal favorite is the queso. It is slappin'! The customer service staff answered all of our questions, and were friendly. I will be back to try out the 2 for $20 Saturday special! read more

What a great place! The food is tasty the people are so friendly! When you enter you place your order i got the chicken flautas with chips and a lemonade. The girl working the counter was super friendly took my order gave me my lemonade and I had a seat inside. Plenty of seating in and out. Has gone way downhill. They have new staff every week. $13 for a bowl of mostly rice and beans and usually it's wrong. They don't care about feedback anymore. One of the things that I think sets them apart from other fast-casual taco/ burrito establishments is the variety of menu items available. This spot allowed for curbside pickup or pickup at the restaurant. Order was ready in about 15-20 minutes from when we ordered. I love the unique sauces and dips available at this restaurant. The hot sauces makes it stand out from other mexican restaurants. I ordered the steak tostados and my boyfriend got the steak chimichangas. There are many options and offer more than many other fast food mexican restaurants. It would have been nice if chips were included like some other places. First the kid who took care of us was friendly and mindful. When we walked in he was unmasked sweeping because no one was in there but as soon as he saw us, he put his mask on, which we appreciated. And he was patient with us while we figured out what we wanted to order. My friend and I were able to try their new kickin chicken and cheesy steak flautas and the salsa, guac, and queso trío appetizer with chips. It was A LOT of food! They even have a Hot Bar for dipping sauces if you need an extra kick, with names like "Don't Be A Chicken Sh!t" and "Smack my A$$ & Call Me Sally". I tried Tijuana Flats on a recommendation from a coworker about the deal on Thursdays for burritos. I recently moved from Southern California so I'm more familiar with a different style of Mexican food and burritos. The tortillas here are white as snow and virtually tasteless. The chicken was quite plain and the beef was quite greasy. Also ordered chicken tacos for my daughter. I specified no jalapeños but she was almost in tears after eating one and we found several more pieces in her tacos. Also ordered guacamole which was an unseasoned smashed avocado. The tortilla chips were the best part. Sturdy enough for scooping guacamole or salsa and not greasy. Needless to say, I will not be going back. read more

The tortilla chips were thick and cold but were seasoned well. The atom bombs are good and the first bite was much more spicy than I expected. The tortilla was nice and crispy but not warm. The creamy filling was warm and had a lot of jalapeños. The dipping sauce was very good, not too sweet but tasty. I ordered my burrito without beans. Not sure if beans would have added some moisture to the very dry burrito. The meat and rice ratio was way off. Barely any meat in the burrito. I know because I unraveled it. Service is on point! As soon as you walk in you notice their quirky decor, which I love. They have a sauce station which is really cool too. I got their "FLAUTAS" with black bean. Overall the tortilla were fried to perfection. They had this crispy/crunch to every bite, I loved that. The black bean though, wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. I LOVE BEING ELITE! How cool is it to attend these neat events? Well, ask me because I'd know. I was very pleased to be able to try out this new place! I've never been here before, so I quickly drove over to the Cary location. I dodged so many toll roads on the way, but I made it. I was lucky enough to get an appetizer of chips and queso and the kicken chicken and steak Flautas. Also, I ordered an extra appetizer of Atom bombs just to taste them as well. The queso was great, they basically gave me a huge bucket of it, so I couldn't complain. Literally if a restaurant gave you that much cheese, you would want to start working there too. The atom bombs were pretty good- normally I love a good amount of dairy-but these had a little too much cream cheese. Still pretty good option for an appetizer though! I really enjoyed the flautas. They were crispy on the outside and had a great amount of filing on the inside. I think the steak one was my favorite, but I enjoyed it all! I probably should've gotten a dessert, considering how many sweet desserts I love to try, so that was a regret. But Amanda said the dessert flautas were delicious. Oh well, you live and learn. My first visit to Tijuana Flats was during the yelp elite event and I loved it! As part of the event, we sampled the double stacked cheesy tacos and also tried the loaded nachos and steak flautas. They have a pretty decent Tex mex menu with vegetarian options as well and the hot sauce bar with something for everyone! If you are hot sauce lover like myself, you should definitely try their sauces. (Don't be a Chicken shit is one of my favorites!)You will not be disappointed. The hot sauce bar also has options for those who can't handle the heat. Lol I also had the Sangria and cookie dough flautas. (THE COOKIE DOUGH FLAUTAS ARE TO DIE FOR!)
