    Carne Asada

Live how fast the service is. I've been here several times and have enjoyed it each time! Got the carne asada this time and everyone at the table gasped at the size. The steak was not overcooked at all and quite tender! Will be returning!

We have lived in Cary for many, many years and this is the first time I have eaten here. We stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday since we had an appt at a nearby business. We were quickly seated and presented with the "menu". All of these restaurants seem to have this same "stock menu". Hubby is a fan of the Speedy Gonzales so that's what we both had. A beef taco and a beef enchilada with a side of refried beans. It was standard Mexican fare. The serving size was plentiful !! I skipped dinner that night. Would like to try the margaritas. Maybe next time.......we will probably be back.

I had to go to Chapel Hill for a doctor's appointment and my daughter lives in Raleigh for a few more months before she moves to Scotland. So I thought let's grab lunch while we can. So she picked a few places, more like types of food, and I know that down to two and then she picked Mexican. So I didn't know anything about the restaurant except the name to get the address. Address. I got there first and so I decided to look at the Yelp review to see what other people thought to pick out what I was going to eat. I was surprised that it had a three and then my daughter wanted to go there, cuz she can be very picky. Apparently she had been there many times before and really enjoyed it and they have great beer specials during the week. So I started with the salsa and chips which were great. Other reviews talk about how fresh they are, I absolutely concur. They were fresh and flavorful and a great surprise. The other reviews that I looked at mentioned the queso and the guacamole, but I was enjoying the free salsa so I didn't try those. Those. But I love enchiladas and I had just recently had some at another Wilmington Mexican restaurant, enchilada suprema so I thought well that'll be great. I'll go ahead and compare it to the one in Wilmington. But then I saw this picture of it looked kind of like Pollo ala crema, but it wasn't. It was actually Los Tres Magueyes amazing Tiras de pollo, It was spicy and it has Chipotle cream sauce. It was outstanding. It came with black beans, some rice. I asked for extra sauce because I knew it was going to be good and then the chicken and it was fantastic. I ordered the suprema enchilada to bring home for dinner or lunch tomorrow, I have no doubt it will be fantastic tomorrow. it was a great place. My daughter had the queso, and a main dish that she enjoyed too, A.C.P with Chorizo Rice, grilled chicken and chorizo, covered with cheese sauce! Both of us like to take home left over so we were happy as clams. I'm glad she introduced it to me. I think I'll be going back. It's on a main road, right in Cary, it's not pretentious. It's definitely casual and it was good food. The prices were reasonable for today's situation. The wait staff was very friendly and they had ample parking.

We are a fan of Los Tres so we decided to stop here for dinner while in Cary. As we hoped, this location was what we expected from los tres: good, quick, and affordable Mexican food. It was about 4 pm when we stopped by. Since it was before the dinner rush, the restaurant was fairly empty. We were seated right away, our server greeted us, gave us chips and salsa, and brought us drinks. The complimentary unlimited chips and salsa they provide are delicious. Plus they are quick to replenish them. I definitely filled up on way too many before my meal arrived. We also ordered the table side guacamole. At this location they do not make it table side so if you want any ingredients omitted, make sure to let them know when you order it. I love all the options they offer and how balanced many of the items are. I decided on the veggie fajitas. The veggies were cooked perfectly and tasted great. They came with tortillas, beans, lettuce, guacamole, and tomato. All of orders were accurate and arrived quickly. This is definitely a great place to get a quick, delicious meal at a reasonable price!

    Soft beef taco

I get Mexican food for the enchiladas but always get a combo that includes a taco wherever we go. Soooo glad as the soft beef taco was a star of the show when we recently tried this location. It was packed with flavorful ground beef, lettuce, and cheese. We also ordered cheese enchiladas, rice, and queso. All were so good. We have found our new local Mexican restaurant!!

This is your standard NC Mexican restaurant. Good food, huge portions, cheap price, cheesy atmosphere, etc.. I like it though, they have a food special every day, and it's always a lot of food for a very cheap price. Plus the food is super fast so you don't have to wait long. And it's always very hot, and the service is good. Nothing fancy but it is a good option for dinner!

I think this place has the best chicken quesadillas I've ever had. They have the exact eighth amount of cheese without overpowering the chicken. Portions are big for the price you pay. I came here with a party of 3 at 9 PM. We were seated immediately, our waitress was friendly and attentive, plus we only waited about 10 minutes for our food. We ate and left within less than an hour. A new favorite place to eat.

    Salad plate for fajitas

I have been here 1x before and it was excellent! This time, not so much. The food was tasteless and not cooked well. Ordered the fajitas with steak and chicken. The steak was huge pieces filled with grizzle and tasted "steamed". The onions were added to the hot pan for a second then pulled off. They were not cooked well at all. (I need a breath mint now). The salad plate had what seemed to be the bottom of the barrel lettuce with a portion of refried beans that are DEFINITELY not worth the side effects. Just a mediocre meal. Wondering if management changed from last time I was here?

Service was good but the food was awful. Couldn't wait to get out of here. Definitely won't be coming back.

I usually rotate between the tacos, enchiladas, and molcajetes, and while the tacos themselves are just okay, the overall experience is solid. The fresh chips are easily some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant (warm and crisp). Add queso to those chips and it really seals the deal. They more than make up for the tacos being a bit underwhelming and are honestly reason enough to come back. This is a great neighborhood spot if you're looking for authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent chips and dips (biggest downside is no liquor aka no margaritas). Not every dish is a knockout, but the highlights keep it comfortably in 4-star territory.

I was really one mayonnaise filled torta away from missing out on my favorite Mexican restaurant of Cary. The food is some of the freshest and most authentic in the area, and is consistently spot on. Forget heavy burritos or overly sauced enchiladas, this place is the real deal. When you come to Esmeralda Grill, you should really focus on the meat heavy dishes, whether it be via land or sea. There are so many different options to choose from, from both categories. When thinking seafood, expect the full fish. If you find yourself with the fresh grilled tilapia, you will receive a delicious whole fish that tastes as if it was caught that morning. It is such a fantastic option. I also appreciate the camarones a la diabla, or Diablo shrimp. The shrimp are plump and juicy, the spice of the dish is excites your taste buds and is a great dish. My favorite entrees are the land meat dishes though. El Trio Perfecto is my go-to order, it is grilled steak, chicken and pork all on one plate with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. The Mexican spice rub on the meats is absolutely mouth watering, the flavors are so bold and tasty. The meats are all cooked to perfection and the portions are gigantic. You can make different tacos with the various meats, it is seriously one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I would highly recommend this! Additionally, Esmeralda Grill has so many other wonderful dishes for different flavor profiles. My grandparents are pretty particular about empanadas, but simply cannot get enough of Esmeralda's version. They also make some killer tacos, and some very affordable ones if you were to come on Tuesday! The moral of the story? Don't base your opinion of a restaurant after a single visit. You don't come across a fantastic hole in the wall every day, Esmeralda Grill is one that every Mexican food lover should know!
