I hadn't been to Tijuana Flats since a Yelp Elite experience some time ago. When I ate there then the chicken flautas were AMAZING. However, when I visited a few days ago and tried their Barbacoa Flautas they were anything but that. There was no meat in my flautas and I was up charged for the Barbacoa meat. I just received tortillas and some cheese. Unfortunately I did not have the time to go get another meal and was so disappointed that I just left it at that. This really needs to be resolved. Wanted to try some place different for Mexican-inspired food, so we gave Tijuana Flats a shot, figuring it's perhaps a step above standard fast food fare given their pricing. And while I really hate giving a below average review based on one experience, I feel like what seems to be the standard policy of the eatery justifies the rating because I can't foresee anything changing in the near future. Ordered the fish tacos and shrimp bowl to share and looked for a space in the online ordering menu where I could customize the orders to get some ingredients moved to the side or taken out to avoid some digestive issues. But unlike other comparable places, there's no opportunity to make any special requests for your individual items. You basically get one choice, salsa or no salsa. And of course you're allowed the 'privilege' to add any of their suggested sides to the order for a requisite fee (obviously). But want them to hold something? Nope. Tried to get around this by putting my request in the overall food order comments when paying, but this was conveniently ignored. Sorry, but in an age of food allergies and aversions for a variety of reasons, it's ridiculous that the ownership/management of Tijuana Flats can't allow their staff to take 2 seconds to read an order and say "ok ... I won't put that in there." As for the food itself, it was fine I guess, after I dug my way through it to make my own 'customization' while it got cold, but certainly no better than say Moe's or Chipotle, who actually will accommodate their customers (while charging less). Maybe add a star if you don't mind a place flipping you the bird when you dare to want to make a change to your order. As for me, I'm thinking if the owners can't be bothered to make minor alterations to their food preparation, then I can't be bothered to give them my business. read more

First timer, didnt know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Ordered which the worker was quite helpful, didnt just tell me everything is good, actually took the time to tell me that the Chimichangas are pretty awesome especially if you get it Megajuana!!! The chips were crispy and tasted fresh. They have plenty of hot sauces to keep you trying a new each time for a while, Im not to big on hot sauce, but they still have them for the ones that love them. They also have the option to eat outside on benches which on some nights would be good, as it does get loud in the building. I didnt give it 5 stars simply because, the chimichangas were not crispy, they were actually soggy. The taste was on point though and well prepared, just lacking the crisp. Let me not forget the staff, they were also good, actually very good they made sure to go by often and ask if we needed anything from drinks to taking away plates. We tried this place today and absolutely loved it. The staff was very welcoming and super helpful in explaining the menu. I had the chimichanga with beef, Tijuana style and loved it. Went on veteran's day and my most of my meal was free . I had there biggest burrito it was not as good as a homewrecker I get at Moe's . But there tacos here are out of the world and will be going back on taco Tuesday some time soon. To top it off they have a hot sauce bar .
