Tiger Tail Salon - Jami Leslie is the best! Been going to her and this salon for 6+ years I believe! Can't imagine anyone else doing my hair - Hair Salons Near Me - Carlsbad, California

If you're looking for a stylist who knows the latest trends, pays attention to detail, and is fully invested in continuing her education/training look no further than Tiger Tail's Alana. Not only is she super sweet, she does an AMAZING job. I never knew what a good haircut was for my long hair until I started coming to her 4 years ago. She never cuts off too much (and understands how tedious it is to grow your hair long) and always leaves my hair feeling fresh and luminous. She does hand painted balayage so beautifully. I always bring in pictures and she does so well replicating the color/style while also putting her magic touch on it. The salon is relaxing and welcoming. The women who work there put a lot into making you feel at home and comfortable while you're there. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with her!! read more

Tiger Tail Salon - Right after my appointment - Hair Salons Near Me - Carlsbad, California

I received a deva cut for curly hair at this salon recently. I don't want to name the stylist as she is a very sweet young girl. I came in with my hair being all one length. I was happy after I left the salon. My disappointment came after I washed and styled the hair myself. One side is noticeably longer than the other. Also, the layers are very deep. I feel like every hair on my head is a different length. Not happy. read more

Teresa retired but Alana is just as great for you curly gals. Her prices are very reasonable and highly recommend for those looking for a Deva curl cut or any other service. Thank you Alana! read more

I love this salon and all of the people working there. It is cute, quant and isn't stuffy like many hair salons can be for the high quality service. Elisa has been styling, cutting and coloring my straight hair since 2004, and I think my loyalty of driving from Pacific Beach up to Carlsbad every 6-8 weeks speaks volumes of her, the work she performs and the quality of service she delivers. I constantly get comments as to why I am not finding a new stylist in San Diego, but then again no one ever notices my roots because she does such an amazing job on the color. And, I always get compliments on my style after a haircut, which always feels great. Overall, Elisa rocks! The price might seem high, but well worth it because everyone sees your hair everyday! read more

Alana was wonderful! My appointment was much longer than anticipated (3hrs), but I loved my curly cut! She was fun to talk to, happy to educate me, and hopefully my cut will hold up till I can return! Wish this salon was closer to me! read more

Sara from Tiger Tail salon is amazing!! I live out of town and was referred to her by a friend of mine and absolutely loved the salon and her. She's super sweet and friendly and took me in (by appointment) before the salon opened. I had a wedding to attend that day and I needed my hair styled. I showed her one picture and told her what I liked and didn't like and she was able to do it with no problem. I highly recommend her not only for styles but for hair coloring as well. I've seen a lot of her work before I met with her and she does fantastic. The salon itself was very easy to find and decorated nicely. I was able to meet a few of the other girls that worked there and they were all very friendly. I also got my make up done there too (the same day) I didn't catch the girls name but she did a nice job on my make up. It lasted me all day/night :) read more

I have only visited twice but thought I should mention a few things... First time I went I specifically asked for a new style, as I was tired of always doing the same thing. Elisa cut my hair and did a good job. I have somewhat curly hair, so the fact that she cut it straight and it looked nice was great, but this was not an extraordinary haircut or a new style - most people didn't even notice it. I really liked the assistant she had doing the shampoo and overall was a good enough experience. Biggest downside was the price. It was $90 with the tip and the whole process took 20 min at the most! Second time Elisa was by herself. I again requested a new style but got just a haircut. Nothing out of the ordinary. While I appreciated the fact that she looks at the notes she takes about the previous haircut, I would have appreciated it much more if she had listed to my request for a new style. I must say its a convenient location, always has parking, the staff is nice and I have no complaints. Unfortunately, in this economy, that's just not enough. If I have to pay $90, I'm going to ask for a little more HAIRSTYLE for my buck. read more

One of my girlfriends was rockin' an awesome natural ombre, and she informed me she had her hair done by Jami at Tiger Tail. So, I decided to take a leap of faith. I am a huge chicken when it comes to my hair, and never do anything dramatic with a new stylist. I desperately needed definition and have been wanting a natural ombre for the longest. Jami gave me exactly what I wanted, and now I want to go more dramatic. My new hair lightens me up and looks super fierce. Also, Jami was super professional, friendly, and most importantly, she listens to what you want and gives it to you. Will definitely be going back! read more

I just had my first experience with this salon and I wish I could give 10 stars because the service is top notch. Alana is AMAZING!!! I'm African American with natural curly hair and her color and curl expertise is extremely professional and extraordinary!!! She is not only amazing at her technique and craft, she is also super kind, patient and simply lovely. I absolutely recommend this salon to everyone!! The amenities are modern and chic and everyone there are happy and pleasant. I don't have enough words to compliment Alana and the staff at Tiger Tail. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I will see you again in a few weeks. read more

Had my hair done by Jami Leslie yesterday and was soo happy with my new hair! She took off 8 inches and added in highlights and lowlights. The salon was very nice and clean and the other hairstylists were all so friendly. They had a beverage station with water, tea, and coffee! I definitely recommend this salon! read more

Tiger Tail Salon - I'm so glad I decided to get a Deva cut with Alana at Tiger Tail. She was able to bring my damaged dried out curls back to life. - Hair Salons Near Me - Carlsbad, California

Elisa at Tiger Tail is the best. I've been going to her for 2 years, and everytime I leave the salon I end up having a great day! I get many compliments on my hair after I've had it done. She takes care of all of her clients, and is worth the extra bucks you'll pay. She writes down what she does with your hair each time, and asks you how you liked it when you return. I didn't like my last cut after a few weeks, and she checked what she had done with the one before it and went back to doing that. She doesn't force product on you, but will ask if you need any. She even told me to go to Trader Joe's to get my shampoo/conditioner rather than getting the Aveda brand. I have many friends that go to her as well, and they're hair always looks fabulous too! Go see Elisa W. at Tiger Tail, it's worth it. (Cost $60 for cut and style) read more

I must say, my color looked much better for much longer than any other time I've had highlights/lowlights. She found colors that complimented my natural color much better than what the other colorist had done in the past. The regrowth "line" was barely visible. Hair is one of the first thing people notice about people, so if you are going to spend money on something -- get a good haircut and color. This is money well spent and very well worth it. read more

Best haircut in over a decade from Teresa Larkin at Tiger Tail Salon. Before she ever cut anything she got to know my "curl families". Then as she cut, she educated me how to style MY curls... not one size fits all approach. For the first time in a long time I left the salon and didn't have to go home to rewash and restyle. I could really see the improvement immediately. I found Teresa by googling for a local hairstylist specializing in curly hair. I read the yelp reviews and read up on Devacurl. The great reviews are well deserved and her price is very fair. I already have my next appointment booked which is a big commitment from me. Highly recommend Teresa and DevaCurl cuts! read more

I have naturally curly hair that I have always straightened because it is unruly and frizzy. Alma, my hair stylist, convinced me to let her style my hair using DivaCurl products and their technique. I couldn't believe I was looking at my own hair! The hair I've always tried to hide is now gorgeous. I proudly wear it and tell everybody about my amazing hairstylist and the DivaCurl product. read more

See all

First off, I went here one time and wasnt bad at all, Alma did a nice job. But, the second time I was trying schedule an appoint for 2 weeks with zero luck. I called the number and got a voicemail saying to text a number. I texted the number and received a text back saying to call a different number, which I did. After a week I had ZERO reply. So, I went in person and made my second appointment for 4 days out. I showed up and my stylist NEVER got the message. I never had such a hard time scheduling anything in my life that should be so easy and I will never go back. It was such an ordeal to make an appointment. Glad I moved on. read more

Elisa at Tiger Tail is the best there is. She has been doing my hair for 3-4 years now and I LOVE it. She is a breath of fresh air. Respectful of the costs - tries things on her hair before she tries them on clients. Stands behind her products and her work. And if you have to spend couple hours with someone getting your hair done, you want to enjoy their company, right? You will leave her chair smiling. read more

I love this salon. It's super cute and modern. You get the total package the second you walk in the doors. There is always refreshments and snacks available. The sink area is very relaxing. Yup. Alma's still the best. Never gonna go to another hairstylist again. Thanks so much, Alma! Always love the haircuts you give me :)

I adore Alma! When she moved from my last salon I was really bummed out. But thanks to yelp, I found her again. She colors very well and I am super happy with my highlights. My last appointment I asked her to do a Brazilian Blowout and my hair looks great! Nice, and clean salon. Recommended. Especially Alma! read more

I can't say enough about Alana van Don, who does DevaCuts at Tiger Tail Salon. The staff is always kind and helpful to me, and I've never had better haircuts than the ones I've had from Alana. She is kind, friendly, helpful, talented and I think she is a hair therapist: that wash and conditioning head massage was therapeutic indeed. She shows me how to apply the product and her recommendations always work. It takes longer than most haircuts because she takes her time and honestly makes me feel special. I'll follow her if she ever leaves. Thanks a million. read more

Becca is the best. I get so many compliments on my hair since I've been going to her. She's amazing.

Augie Augusto is the best. She has been doing my cut and color for over 6 years. She listens to what I want and even copies off of pictures of haircuts that I bring in. She keeps me current and I always get compliments. I love my haircuts because I can just wash and it falls perfectly around my face. Of course, product refines it. Augie makes me look beautiful and I thank her. xoxo read more

Synthia Jimenez has been taking care if my hair for about four years now and I have loved how she was able to transform my hair from what it was before going to her and how it looks today. My hair has never looked better nor did I ever think it could grow longer than my shoulders. She is a artist with color and has magical hair cutting skills. She always has a positive attitude, she listens to what I have to tell her and she goes out of her way to make your appointment all about you. You truly feel pampered, special and when you leave the salon you are looking fabulous! She takes her career seriously and is always very professional. First off, Cynthia is a great colorist. I have gone to her 3 times now. However, I was a little disappointed after leaving there today. I got a trim (not a full haircut) and a partial foil (weave). Color is great, price was anything but. I paid $150 for these two services - $45 for a trim, which is absolutely ridiculous to me. $95 for the partial was ok, but the trim really bothered me. My mom and sister both go to a stylist in Escondido who does wonderful color and charges $120 for a FULL foil (weave) and haircut (more than a trim). I booked my appointment with Cynthia for June.....but unfortunately, I will be cancelling. I gotta save $$ where I can! read more

I have been a client of Synthia for years. About 16 years ago I moved to San Francisco but still travel to Southern CA for business 4-6 times a years. Every time I go, I book an appointment with her. No one else does my hair as good as she does. I have her do major cuts and color so that when I have to see some one else I ask them for little trims and touch ups. My gray has started to come in fast these past years. She always has the right color combination for my stubborn grays and the color last for a long time. If I have it done by someone else, it's never as nice nor lasts as long. I love our talks when I go in, we end up laughing so much and before you know it our time is over.... My only problem with having her as my stylist is that I don't live close enough to go to her ever month! read more

I have gotten many DevaCurl cuts, but I just received my first one from Alana van Don and it is fabulous! Alana is a wonderful, nice person, and she gave me a super sassy trendy cut that works really well with my curls. Her process does take a long time (3ish hrs) so schedule accordingly, but it is totally worth it! It felt like she attended to every single curl on my head. Also, her price is WAY MORE reasonable than any other DevaCurl stylists in the area. Highly recommend for all San Diego curly girls! PS. If you want the best cut and color of your life, go see ERIN at Tiger Tail! Not to overdo it, but she is the BEST!! Before I went to Erin, I spent a year hopping from stylist to stylist all over San Diego County and never found the right fit. Then a friend referred me to Erin and she saved my hair! She gave me the cutest cut I have ever had and I looked and felt great leaving the salon. She really listened to what I wanted, was able to give me great styling tips and was up on current trends and cuts. She matched my brunette color perfectly and my friend, who is also her client, has the most amazing blonde I've ever seen. Blonde has to be Erin's specialty. All this and she's cute and fun to chat with. Five Stars for Erin at Tiger Tail!
