I received a deva cut for curly hair at this salon recently. I don't want to name the stylist as she is a very sweet young girl. I came in with my hair being all one length. I was happy after I left the salon. My disappointment came after I washed and styled the hair myself. One side is noticeably longer than the other. Also, the layers are very deep. I love this salon and all of the people working there. It is cute, quant and isn't stuffy like many hair salons can be for the high quality service. Elisa has been styling, cutting and coloring my straight hair since 2004, and I think my loyalty of driving from Pacific Beach up to Carlsbad every 6-8 weeks speaks volumes of her, the work she performs and the quality of service she delivers. I constantly get comments as to why I am not finding a new stylist in San Diego, but then again no one ever notices my roots because she does such an amazing job on the color. And, I always get compliments on my style after a haircut, which always feels great. Overall, Elisa rocks! She's super sweet and friendly and took me in (by appointment) before the salon opened. I had a wedding to attend that day and I needed my hair styled. I showed her one picture and told her what I liked and didn't like and she was able to do it with no problem. I highly recommend her not only for styles but for hair coloring as well. I've seen a lot of her work before I met with her and she does fantastic. The salon itself was very easy to find and decorated nicely. I was able to meet a few of the other girls that worked there and they were all very friendly. I have only visited twice but thought I should mention a few things... First time I went I specifically asked for a new style, as I was tired of always doing the same thing. Elisa cut my hair and did a good job. I have somewhat curly hair, so the fact that she cut it straight and it looked nice was great, but this was not an extraordinary haircut or a new style - most people didn't even notice it. I really liked the assistant she had doing the shampoo and overall was a good enough experience. Biggest downside was the price. It was $90 with the tip and the whole process took 20 min at the most! Second time Elisa was by herself. I again requested a new style but got just a haircut. Nothing out of the ordinary. While I appreciated the fact that she looks at the notes she takes about the previous haircut, I would have appreciated it much more if she had listed to my request for a new style. I must say its a convenient location, always has parking, the staff is nice and I have no complaints. Unfortunately, in this economy, that's just not enough. If I have to pay $90, I'm going to ask for a little more HAIRSTYLE for my buck. read more

One of my girlfriends was rockin' an awesome natural ombre, and she informed me she had her hair done by Jami at Tiger Tail. So, I decided to take a leap of faith. I am a huge chicken when it comes to my hair, and never do anything dramatic with a new stylist. I desperately needed definition and have been wanting a natural ombre for the longest. Elisa at Tiger Tail is the best. I've been going to her for 2 years, and everytime I leave the salon I end up having a great day! I get many compliments on my hair after I've had it done. She takes care of all of her clients, and is worth the extra bucks you'll pay. She writes down what she does with your hair each time, and asks you how you liked it when you return. I didn't like my last cut after a few weeks, and she checked what she had done with the one before it and went back to doing that. She doesn't force product on you, but will ask if you need any. She even told me to go to Trader Joe's to get my shampoo/conditioner rather than getting the Aveda brand. I have many friends that go to her as well, and they're hair always looks fabulous too! First off, I went here one time and wasnt bad at all, Alma did a nice job. But, the second time I was trying schedule an appoint for 2 weeks with zero luck. I called the number and got a voicemail saying to text a number. I texted the number and received a text back saying to call a different number, which I did. After a week I had ZERO reply. So, I went in person and made my second appointment for 4 days out. I showed up and my stylist NEVER got the message. First off, Cynthia is a great colorist. I have gone to her 3 times now. However, I was a little disappointed after leaving there today. I got a trim (not a full haircut) and a partial foil (weave). Color is great, price was anything but. I paid $150 for these two services - $45 for a trim, which is absolutely ridiculous to me. $95 for the partial was ok, but the trim really bothered me. My mom and sister both go to a stylist in Escondido who does wonderful color and charges $120 for a FULL foil (weave) and haircut (more than a trim). I booked my appointment with Cynthia for June.....but unfortunately, I will be cancelling. I gotta save $$ where I can! read more

I have gotten many DevaCurl cuts, but I just received my first one from Alana van Don and it is fabulous! Alana is a wonderful, nice person, and she gave me a super sassy trendy cut that works really well with my curls. Her process does take a long time (3ish hrs) so schedule accordingly, but it is totally worth it! It felt like she attended to every single curl on my head. Also, her price is WAY MORE reasonable than any other DevaCurl stylists in the area. Highly recommend for all San Diego curly girls! PS. I have been a client of Synthia for years. About 16 years ago I moved to San Francisco but still travel to Southern CA for business 4-6 times a years. Every time I go, I book an appointment with her. No one else does my hair as good as she does. I have her do major cuts and color so that when I have to see some one else I ask them for little trims and touch ups. My gray has started to come in fast these past years. She always has the right color combination for my stubborn grays and the color last for a long time. If I have it done by someone else, it's never as nice nor lasts as long. I love our talks when I go in, we end up laughing so much and before you know it our time is over....
