I would like to state that this review was base on a Yelp Elite event where I did receive a complimentary drink for this review. I am somewhat a Boba tea connoisseur so the following is my honest opinion whether the drink was free or not. So there are many bubble tea joints but what makes Tiger Sugar difference is they way they use brown sugar instead of simple syrup like most places in their boba tea. I ordered the signature Tiger Sugar boba tea warm. It was January 30 degrees out and I wasn't crazy enough to get a cold drink. Most places that serve their boba tea hot tend to lose the original flavor, here the boba tea was served warm not scalding hot so in a way it went down nice and smooth and comforting. I like the blend which makes this drink smooth and the place is completely Covid ready. I feel comfortable going in there and order my drink. Boba was cooked just the right consistency so overall I like it a lot. I will go back and try their other flavors and also in cold temperature to see the difference. What a phenom that struck the NYC scene by storm last summer! Their teas (or tea less drinks, like their famous brown sugar boba milk that put me in a sugar coma for an hour or two after ingesting) are pretty solid, but I would definitely give fair warning to the occasional sugar lovers like myself because these drinks are reaaaaally sweet. Even though the line can get long at this BK location, the drinks come out pretty quickly and the service is efficient. I did not take any photos for this place because I drank it all after I got it before I even realize that I did not take any photos. That's how good it is. I came here on a Sunday morning around noon and waited approximately 15 mins to get my milk tea. I ordered the most popular brown sugar black tea with cream mousse and boba. Shaky shaky before you drink! I think it was up to the expectations. Not very sweet, and the tea flavor definitely came through, I am not a big fan of boba in general, and honestly I can't really tell any differences on bobas between this place and other places but I heard people raving about their boba before. Next time I'll just get a milk tea without any add-ins so I can drink more tea hahah! I know people waited for hours to get a tea from here, I am not sure if it worth that much of a wait. I think 3.5 stars is an accurate rating for this place. I came on the first day this place opened and ended up waiting about 40 minutes. I got the brown sugar with boba. The first sip was the most delicious and then everything tasted diluted. The flavor of the brown sugar tasted watered down. However, the boba/pearls were cooked really well! Came on a rainy day and waited about 5-10 minutes! Finally was able to try this hyped up establishment and was glad the wait wasn't longgg. I ordered 3 milk boba with cream mousse and 1 black tea with brown sugar & less sugar, which totaled about $22 after tax. There was 1 person working the cashier who was really friendly. Once I ordered I moved to the side and waited for my number to be called. There was also a digital sign that showed your order number which I found to be really neat. It felt really organized, meaning the system they have going on. The store was fairly small but it was a good 10 mins. At last, finally tasting the hype. It was definitely good, the mixture was aesthetically pleasing to watch and the milk tea was really smooth. The tapiocas were quite soft too! I really enjoyed my black tea the most. I didn't think the brown sugar would taste good with it but it did! I really enjoyed it but I don't think I'll be going often as I did find it to be pricey - $5.50 for a one sizer. Oh.. where do I begin with this brown sugar hype!? When this place opened in Flushing, I was antsy to try it but to get there and to wait in the lines for it does not seem all that worth it to me. Finally a location opened in Brooklyn and my dad who is in the know about all these food places went to line up a week after its grand opening on a week day. He was first (ha) and got a cup for everyone. Though we had this hours after it was purchased and the bubbles were already hard from being in the fridge, I could not tell what was sooo great about this. To be fair, we did not have it fresh which might have altered the overall taste but nothing about it stood out to me. I was in the area again and saw that the line was not too long so my sister and I decided to line up for it- this time to try it as soon as it was made. We were in and out in about 20 minutes. Honestly when we had it fresh, we both agreed it was just okay. The fact that it consist just milk, brown sugar and bubbles does not excite me all that much. All the same: Sweet, rich, and hits the spot after a particularly savoury meal (we had hotpot before this). You can't adjust the sweetness like other places, so be warned. Also make sure to shake it at least 15 times in order to ensure the best taste. We went on a Friday around 3:00PM and there was no wait! One day, I passed by and the line didn't look too crazy, but I was wrong because I ended up in queue for a total of 45 minutes (this was long after opening week)... a LOT of individuals order 6 drinks at a time, which I assume is what ultimately made the line move at an incredibly slow rate. Besides the incredibly long line because of the hype, the bubble tea is very good. I would recommend the Signature brown sugar bubble milk (and the one with cream). The bubbles are well cooked with a nice chewy ness. The brown sugar is sweet but not too sweet. Definitely would go back without the line. I'm not the biggest Boba fan but I do like the brown sugar boba IF made correctly! Tiger Sugar does not disappoint! I've had plenty of bad brown sugar boba drinks where it pretty much taste like a regular boba drink. So what is the difference? Well, if made correctly, the brown sugar should taste like creme brulee. The boba should be warm and soft. That's one of the reasons why I wasn't a big fan of the boba craze a few years back because I don't like how hard it was in cold drinks. This version is deliciously made with thick syrup coating the cup. You can choose to have smaller pearls, which is what I get but if you want the chewy texture then go for the regular pearls. I do think it's still too milky for my taste at times so next time I will try it with black tea. This place always has a line so if you don't want to spend time waiting around, go when they first open or on week days when it's not so busy. read more

A friend recommended this boba shop as currently the hottest spot for boba. As a boba lover I had to give it a try. They're known for their brown sugar boba drinks with a mixture of large and small tapioca pearls. Its surprisingly pretty good!!! It has a strong taste of cream and very rich but not too sweet. I also tried the original boba milk tea, I think they call it a black tea latte and I added large tapioca pearls. This had a unique taste to it as well but nevertheless tasty. I got half sugar and it came out to be just as sweet as the full sugar brown sugar boba drink. Both were amazing though with perfectly chewy boba pearls. Will definitely visit again. The only bad thing about this place is there's always a line. There's actually two lines. One on the outside and one on the inside. Don't go inside without having to wait outside first. You get handed a playing card when you transition from outside to inside. There's a guy/girl who will let you in one by one. You can buy up to 6 drinks at a time. Try going during the weekday around opening hours. I had to wait a total of 40 mins when I got there 10 mins after them opening. I personally think it's worth the wait. The first time I came in to this newer location in Sunset Park was a few weeks after opening. We dropped by in the early afternoon on a kind of glum day and were only the fifth or so group in the line. Things moved quickly and before we knew it, we had in hand our a brown sugar boba milk with cream mousse and a brown sugar boba + pearl with cream mousse. Both were beautiful and tasty. The things that really get me here are that the boba is divine in both flavor and preparation, the real milk adds depth that is flawlessly complimented by the brown sugar which essentially leaves you with the creme brulee flavor profile. This is nothing but a lush dessert and absolutely worth it. The smaller pearls are tasty also. On another trip we tried a tea latte as well which comes without the stripes but still impeccably beautifully prepared. This is not a gimmick, this is pure deliciosity. I'm very particular about my boba which means that I care about the bubbles and the drink to make the sugar & calories worth it. I ordered the brown sugar boba + pearl with mousse and it was delicious. The combo of the larger and small boba is genius because you never get sick of what you're chewing. Bubbles are chewy and soft with a bite - cooked to perfection. The brown sugar sweetens up the drink to the right amount. HOWEVER, I love my milk tea and would only be back to tiger sugar for a DESSERT BOBA DRINK, not a boba milk tea. Gong Cha is still my number 1 brown sugar bbmilktea spot. Lines are also still pretty brolic because school isn't back in session yet. Wait time of 40 minutes on a 3pm weekday. I am a fan, but not a die heart fan who is willing to wait longer than 15 minutes for a drink so I'm more than happy to venture to Tiger Sugar on a rainy day, when the line is considerably shorter. They have a pretty good system (using two lines) that I think is pretty efficient for the amount of customers they have to go through on a daily basis. The bobas/pearls are perfectly chewy, with great flavor and the drink overall is legit because their milk is so light. However, their brand does not allow for them to customize drink orders so if you want for your drink to be less sweet, it ain't gonna happen. Came here because of the brown sugar boba hype. My gf and I stopped by on a random Sunday late afternoon (around 4pm)and the wait was about 20 mins in totals 5 mins waiting to order and then 15 mins to get the boba. There is a limit of 6 boba per person if someone wants to buy a bunch for friends and family. The reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because it's quite pricey for milk, sugar and boba. It is about $6 for one. We ordered the brown sugar boba milk with cream mousse. The boba was soft and chewy and the milk was very satisfying. I ordered their Brown Sugar Boba + Pearl with Cream Mouse. Both the boba and pearls tasted delicious. It was sweet and made to be the right amount of chewiness. Their cream mouse tasted like half and half which I really enjoy in my milk bubble teas but will be dangerous if you are lactose.. (drink with caution). My only con is that I personally prefer my drink to be 1/4 toppings and 3/4 drink. Tiger sugar is generous with their boba so if you are a boba lover, this is the place for you. About half my drink was filled with boba. I definitely recommend giving this place a try at least once.
