I went for a pedicure in August 2026. I wasn't too happy with the result, since nails on my right foot were left too long and looked ingrown. The worst came a day or two later when I began having sharp pain below the inside of my right ankle. The pain continued and a few days later I noticed my leg was red, swollen and warm to the touch. I knew right away I had cellulitis, an infection below the skin. This was confirmed by my PCP, and I'm now on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Online search confirmed that pedicures cause this when the foot bath has a used liner or the instruments have not been sterilized. I don't walk around barefoot and had no other exposure at that time, so I'm sure the pedicure did it. Too bad, the spa is a convenient location for me, but I'll never go back. read more
