Let me start off by saying it's been close to 30 years since I've been to Carter Caves State Park to begin with. Today I was there for a work event, so when it ended I naturally started thinking of someplace to eat. Tierney's Cavern was the first place that popped up, and was conveniently right beside of the conference room we were in! After speaking with some colleagues that were more familiar with it, I decided to give it a try. When I first walked in, I quickly looked everything over, trying to determine if it was a "seat yourself" sort of place or not. Even though it was, my wonderful waitress (please forgive me, I forgot your name!) assisted me in finding a place to sit. The restaurant is very clean and has amazing views of the beautiful forest which we are nestled in. She quickly brought me silverware and a menu and took my drink order while I perused the menu. She was quick, attentive, and personable, which definitely helped me feel more at ease, after all, it's my first dining experience here! She checked on me several times throughout my meal, but didn't make a nuisance of herself, and seemed to genuinely care about her customers. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and fries for lunch. She asked if I wanted ketchup or something else for my fries and I requested ranch dressing instead. I had a very minimal wait time from when I ordered until my food was delivered. This is where this restaurant REALLY shines! That Reuben was absolutely fantastic! The rye bread was marbled nicely and grilled to perfection. The sauerkraut was mild, not overpowering like I've seen on some sandwiches, and how can you possibly go wrong with Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing! That sandwich definitely ranks in my top three I've had! Now the fries.....I'm not sure if they had been double fried, but they were a crispy, crunchy, golden potato masterpiece! Every single one of them.....not a soggy, oily fry to be found anywhere! I am also extremely thankful I requested the ranch dressing.....I knew with the first bite I took of it that the dressing was homemade! In all honesty, I could have probably eaten three or four cups of that ranch, but I was good and only had the one! This whole dining experience was wonderful and I left feeling satisfied, full, and extremely happy with every portion of it. I have another meeting planned later this month at the resort and I have EVERY intention of eating here again!! A++++ rating from me!!

I got a grilled chicken salad to go. The salad looked ok, but the grilled chicken was over cooked and tough. Then as I started to take a bite of lettuce, I noticed a piece of what was either plastic wrap or the tip of a plastic glove. I am sure that this is just a fluke, but it didn't make me happy. This restaurant seems to have the standard Aramark food stuffs. Nothing is special or spicy. Hopefully the restaurant service is better if you go inside.

Hubby and I went to Tierneys Cavern restaurant on a Thursday evening. We were seated promptly and had attentive service. Hubby and I started with the fried tomatoes which were perfect in their texture and taste. Hubby ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown which was good except for super salty ham that he ended up not finishing. I had the bacon cheeseburger which reminded me of a burger at Steak and Shake. Hubby and I joked that they should do a special 3 part Kentucky Full Dinner with the fried tomatoes, hot brown, and the Kentucky mud pie for dessert. All in all, hubby and I didn't go back the second night. However, we would go again.

I come back a year later to The 606 and immediately notice the ambiance of the location had improved, the interior was calm and inviting with a gentle lighting and a nice red and black color scheme. To start I ordered the loaded buffalo chips as an appetizer and my mother had the fried banana pepper rings, both were burnt and the pepper rings were lukewarm at best. The potatoes were cut too thin and the cheese was barely melted. On to our main course I had the Caribbean Jerk boneless wings and pulled pork bbq sandwich. My mother had the mesquite grilled chicken dinner with seasoned fries on the side and the loaded tots. My wings come to me cold and the only thing good about them was the sauce, my bbq pulled pork was piping hot and loaded in bbq sauce! This sandwich was the best thing I got. My mother's grilled chicken and fries came to us lukewarm at best, the fries were crisp and tender though and the chicken was tender as well. The loaded tots were hot and crisp but the cheese was halfway melted. Now onto our desserts which I will add were not made in house but nonetheless was good, the lava cake and better than s*x cake both had great presentation and tasted great. Lastly the service...oh boy was the service lackluster. The dining room in front of house only had one waitress, who was kind and inviting, helping five different groups of customers all between 1-5 in number..now mind you this was a Friday evening between 6-6:30 but I digress..front of house definitely needs more staff. Overall for $60 the visit in my opinion was not worth the money spent. I unfortunately did forget to grab some photos of our food.

Another great visit!! This trip we ordered:…read more Frog legs with green beans and scalloped potatoes 2 piece dark chicken meal with French fries and greens Fried green tomatoes Our opinion: I was very excited about ordering the fried green tomato appetizer. I think this is the only thing I was disappointed by. The size of the tomatoes is large - but the breading is a flour breading instead of the traditional cornmeal breading. I thought it was too heavy and overpowered the flavor of the tomato itself. I probably wouldn't order these again unless a lighter cornmeal breading was an option. Please make that an option - because this tomato with a cornmeal breading and the fry dip sauce could be absolute heaven. Fried chicken: amazing, delicious, yummy - some of the best fried chicken ever Frog legs: you get 3 sets of legs and they are good size. Fried to perfection and delicious. Sides: Scalloped potatoes - I wasn't crazy about this side. To me a scalloped potato is a thinly sliced potato with a creamy cheese sauce. I would call these cheesy potatoes instead of scalloped. They were larger chunks. Green beans - loved them Greens - a bit salty but good French fries - the perfect French fry with the most amazing sauce ever

I loved my platter of chicken livers w very sweet corn casserole and mashed. I still have 1/2 of it to take home. Hubby's chicken fingers were also fresh as can be. You will smell like fried everything afterwards, so don't plan a romantic evening. You also should not expect fast service on a busy Saturday night since it is a one room place. But if you leave hungry, it's your fault!
