When I first started consigning, I was told that if there was something I *really* didn't want donated, I could let them know. If they decided not to sell that item, I was obligated to come back immediately to get it. I thought that was a nice thing to do, especially since it creates good will with their consigners. One of the last times that I consigned, I explained to the shop-person that there was a piece I wanted to hold onto if they didn't want to sell it, and I was given some eyerolls and told that this is not something Secondi does. They did complete a quick assessment for me, which I appreciated, but the attitude around it made me feel very uncomfortable. It might be helpful if all the shop folks were on the same page about guidelines! Otherwise, Secondi has been around since I was in high school (and probably even before that), so it's a real DC institution. It's one of the most well known consignment shops in DC, and I do think they do a great job curating their wares and they do not sell mass-market/lower quality items.

We were shopping for outfits for our son's graduation, which should have been a positive and memorable occasion. Instead, I was subjected to unprofessional, confrontational, and ultimately abusive behavior by a fitting room associate. Upon approaching the fitting room, I followed the associate's directions regarding where to place my cart, although her instructions were inconsistent and unclear. Inside the dressing room, I found a shirt that had been left behind by a previous customer. After trying on approximately seven items, I returned them to hangers and exited the fitting room. At that point, the associate demanded that I remove and hang the shirt that I had not brought into the dressing room. I explained that it was not mine. She became visibly frustrated, entered the room herself, and then shifted her focus to insisting that I return all of my items to the exact locations on the sales floor where I had found them. I placed the clothing neatly on the rack provided near the fitting room, which is standard practice in most retail stores. I declined to return the items to the sales floor, as that is typically handled by store staff to ensure proper organization. The situation escalated significantly when the associate followed me out of the fitting area and toward the front of the store, continuing to confront me. She then called me a "horrible human being" and used an additional demeaning term toward me. Racially motivated ! Being followed and verbally insulted while exiting the store was both shocking and unacceptable. I think she forgot what her job actually was and that was too curate the clothing, and to rehang them up she had the nerve to continue following me and would have exited the store to follow me. Had someone else stopped her I am a 50-year-old customer who has shopped in retail stores my entire life, and I have never experienced anything remotely like this. This interaction was not only unprofessional but crossed the line into harassment. this incident be investigated thoroughly. No customer should be treated in this manner under any circumstances. I would also appreciate a response outlining what steps will be taken to address this situation and ensure it does not happen to others. Huge thumbs down to this store and this horrible little twit

This was a Lion and Tigers and Bears OH MY situation! It's quite crowded in here. Not cluttered but crowded. They have soooo much stuff and it's all in order. This place could be 2-3 floors easy!! I saw all of my fav brands at great prices. They have a huge selection of high-end wear for a great price. They have a huge selection of summer, spring and winter wear. The cosmetics and body care... chef's kiss!! They have everything in every color/ scent/ size!! Cool accessories, luggage galore, etc. I did not take a gander at the shoes as I had a show nearby to attend. I bought 2 gorge blouses and a short sleeve loose fitting denim blue top. I will revisit very soon for some more shopping greatness.

She gave me a great deal on some amazing pieces I would have easily paid double for and still would have walked out thinking I got a good price. Needless to say I will be going back again and again and will do my best to spread the word about this lovely little gem. I am almost a bit hesitant to share this with too many of my friends, as I want to make sure I get all the goodies, but there seemed to be plenty to go around and the shop owner is just too nice and lovely to not help support. Just went back to the shop yesterday -- here are some updates!…read more - The shop is open now on Sundays from 3-6 pm... and NOT open on Saturday from 12-3. Essentially its hours now are Thursday-Sunday 3-6 pm. Even if the door is locked, just knock and the shopkeeper will let you in. - The owner (Sylvia) is going to start transitioning the clothes to the spring season... coming in a couple of weeks or so! - On that note, the shop's strong suit are the accessories -- lots of nice cocktail hats/handbags/jewelry. Examine closely, because pretty much everything in there's for sale. - Starting next week she's going to start making prices static. Yeah, no more haggling, but at least it will be a lot less pressure for those who are uncomfortable with negotiating. In conjunction, some of the prices of the clothing will be adjusted... so maybe that amazing paillette jacket will be cheaper now? Also, I've learned something recently, having become acquainted with the owner. Y'know how it might be kind of intimidating/irritating when the shopkeeper tries to talk to you/make comments about what you're browsing? Well, I always found it that way. All in all, it's just the keeper trying to be friendly, not necessarily trying to pressure you into buying something. Ain't nothin' wrong with trying to be nice.

Well... the ozone from the furnace room disintegrated the soles on the brand new shoes and the soles came apart in chunks. Panic. So we look for shoe stores and Comfort One shoes up on Yelp. We had low expectations as military adaptable shoes are old Oxford types. But among the dozens of models of trendy, comfortable, and casual shoes, there were actually three models of oxfords. The attendant was superb. Patient and friendly. As expected, new European shoes are not cheap. But the value was tremendous. High quality, comfy and well fitting. We left quite happy. Excellent and friendly service and great value.

Their alterations are terrible & super off - I had to go back a couple of times because they did not stick to the original measurements. So yeah, you pay a lot of money for custom suit that doesn't even fit well. Their old stylist basically created the whole suit for me - I only picked the suit color. Turns out a few days before my wedding, I found out that their inside linings basically made my whole suit and pants see through! Yes, you can see the boxer and everything... When I asked online customer service to do alterations, they said no because it passed the 30 days warranty. So if you want to pay a lot of money for ill-fitted & see-through suits, do pay them a visit!

Instead, hilarity ensued over many, many iterations of reworks. Luckily the four (4) total shirts that I ordered--and have since donated to charity--didn't cost too much. Had I placed a larger order, I would have been more upset. Instead, I got a lesson that if you don't want this company to bend you over and have their way with you, it's best to not give them money in the first place--or start with small orders so you know into what mess you're getting. Long story short: don't buy from these shysters, but if you really have an itch to get f*cked over, start with purchasing one (1) made-to-measure shirt--so you know what kind of cheap merchandise and hellish customer service you'll get AFTER they get your payment.
