Avoid if you value torque specs: I Took my car to Tidwell recently to have my wheels balanced and despite me leaving notes above the wheel arches specifying the lug nut torque spec (85lb-ft) and specifically asking the front desk to torque the nuts to spec. When I attempted to remove them a couple days later they were incredibly tight, and I ended up grabbing my torque wrench to see what it took to remove them - and every lug nut maxed out my wrench at over 190lb-ft... would be frustrating to have this happen from a cheap shop, but especially from a "premium" one like Tidwell. But that's not all. I then spent a few weeks (and a little over $1000) chasing down a cyclical tapping noise from somewhere in the driveline only to eventually have a shop discover that the wheel weights used were installed poorly because they didn't fit the rim profile correctly and were rattling about at certain speeds. They said the wheel weights should have been the stick on kind and not the clips for the rim shape. Worth mentioning that I had requested stick in weights because I prefer those anyway, but was told they didn't have any. I've used Tidwell before a few times and they're more expensive than most, so I thought I would be getting better service. This wasn't the only time they over torqued my lugs but it was the most extreme, and it will certainly be the last. I almost didn't bother with making this review, but discovering they botched the wheel weights was too much. read more

The customer service is horrible. I was talked down to as a customer with my family. Tidwell said that my family inconvenienced them and they are not making money from us by bring in our own tires and them putting them on. Our family was told that we can go to a small tire place around here in Longview that will put the tires on because they are not, as if they are putting down other businesses. We were also told that you can't buy a hamburger meat from the grocery store and ask Juicys to cook it for you. Our family has conducted business with Tidwell for years and also referred people to them. This hasn't been an issue all these years but today it is a problem. Tidwell stated that they will no longer work on our cars because we didn't buy the tires from them. I no longer recommend this place as they are unprofessional with no customer service. They are not worth a star. If I could give them zero stars I would. No customer should be spoken to like this in front of other customers. read more

I will never do business here again. I bought my tires from Tidwell. I was told that rotation and balance was offered with the purchase and installation of tires. When I went in today, I was informed that only the rotation is included. They quoted me $17 per wheel for balancing. I have never heard of a tire shop operating in this way. Any other shop in town would include lifetime rotation AND balance with the purchase and installation of the tires. I will take my business else where going forward and I suggest everyone else do the same. read more

I go to Tidwell for general maintenance, oil changes, etc because they're down the street and it's convenient. I have a Grand Jeep Cherokee Diesel. I'm about to drive from TX to MN so I took it in for the usual on a Friday about an hour before close thinking it would be done on Saturday at some point. They didn't call until Monday late afternoon and I was working. I go to pick it up Tuesday morning, needing to leave at 3am on Wednesday morning and having a thousand errands to run. The jeep doesn't even try to turn over. I go inside to tell them and they said they had trouble starting it yesterday too. Ummmmm...did you think about checking the battery? Calling the owner? So they test the battery and it says that a cell is dead. How convenient. I've never had an issue with this battery and the battery isn't even a year old. It just happened to die when I bring it in for maintenance? So I go talk to the manager because I'm pissed and I need my car after taking 3 days for an oil change and tire rotation. The manager gets super defensive, looks at the maintenance guy and says "Just give her a battery and get her out of here" Wow. So on my jeep the battery is under the passenger floor board. I don't know what genius engineer thought that was a good idea but it is what it is. The guy spends 30 minutes trying to access it and then tells me this is a waste of his time and he's going to jump the battery and I need to just take it to the dealership. They have always done right by our family. They've fixed my husband's ball-joints, tires, suspension, etc. Any time something was off, they were quick to fix the issue. They've done my tires and something else (I don't remember what it was called, but there was like clicking when I turned) and we were very satisfied. In all honesty, there was a loose hose after they worked on my front end that leaked and I noticed it after I pulled away. It was the end of the day and I drove it right back and they fixed it for me. Mistakes can happen anywhere, so I don't hold that against them because they fixed it for me. They are always friendly and have better prices than most on the tires for my SUV and my husband's truck. Those tires aren't cheap and Tidwell has good prices and friendly service. read more

Over charged us even though they did not preform all of the work that was on the initial quote. After $450, the car was still not driveable, so when we brought it back they told us they would "make it right". When I went to pick the car up the second time, they tried to charge us another $450. When we inquired, the owner raised his voice and cussed us up and down. Absolutely would not recommend these people under any circumstances. read more

The lady at the front desk is rude. She acts put out whether it's a phone call or if you're there in person. I only went there because I couldn't make it to the dealerships in Shreveport or Tyler. She over charged me twice, even after I had called and was given a quote from someone else. I still never received the second credit. I will not return. read more
