Life is too short to color inside the lines so why not go wild and explore the universe of color!…read more After visiting the NYC location, this was a must on our trip to Houston. It was a world of fun photo props rooms and cool FYI about the categories of color. You can book tickets online using their website or Instagram to reserve your day and time a lot. FYI, kids of all ages are welcome but no strollers are allowed as there are stairs to climb and go down. They have cute snack pairings like fortune cookies , taffy and ice cream as you explore each art room. I absolutely loved it and we did the entire place in about an hour. You can take even more time If you wish . Bonus: after you register inside , you keep a cool QR card to take all your photos and they email them to you after the experience! You can also use the kiosk to print your photos out for a fee . There are beverages for purchase as well ( beer, wine, water and poppi soda ) It's a must for a solo trip, date or group !

It is one of those places that can easily be a one and done. There is discounted weekday price starting at $19 for kids 3-12. Something tells me the $19 is if you buy it in advance. Meaning, not the day of. I paid $25 for the kids and $29 for myself online. The photo opps are what you make of it. Like for instance I've been to places where you press a button and the confetti drops down. For this, you have to actually throw the confetti up yourself. Good luck trying to figure this out with kids if you're looking for a good photo. They were also a bit underwhelmed with it. They loved the music room, the light bright room, and the balloon room. The goodies. It was cute. I'm trying bit to give the whole experience away if you are interested in going. It is best to pay for the ice cream online as it is a bit cheaper but not by much. Those cones were cute and delicious. I purchased the photo package. It really isn't necessary as you get to download the photos from a QR code you use when snapping the pics. There is a small parking lot near to it. If you wait for the group before you to leave then you can get a spot without an issue.

Tickets were on the pricier end especially since it was a Thursday night, but not a big deal. The workers were friendly, and the seats were EXTREMELY comfortable & cushy... I still think about them to this day... I also thought it was nice how movie viewers could order food and the workers would come serve it on a platter! I'm not too familiar with any deals or memberships that the River Oaks Theatre may have compared to its big name competitors, but I highly recommend everyone to experience a film here at least once! Also there is ample parking nearby, but can't speak on it too much since I was dropped off.

I have removed 1 star due to the unfortunate experience I had via their expensive hotdog. This is a warning to everyone here.. the banh mi hotdog tastes like a**. omgagod... it literally tastes like evil. I have never had anything like it, and I've eaten at dozens of Vietnamese restaurants in my life. It's not only the pickled veggies on it that seemed to have marinated in something really awful, but it's the weird smoked? flavor given to the hotdog. I considered sending it back but opted to just make the best of the movie. Do you like the hotdog? If so I'd like you to post an opposing review because I can't imagine someone enjoying it. And since I am here... I get the gratuity is included but the wait staff never came back to clear dishes, and maybe it's because they will only come if you press the button? If that's the case it was not communicated to us, and when the wait staff went by us to serve our neighbors maybe it would be a good practice to check in quickly with other people in the row while they're there? That's it. Will return. Will never order hot dog again.

And for the non-conformist in you, some of their films are more small-time and obscure than what you'd find at the MFA. They're hosting a few different film festivals this year, including an Asian film festival and a Latin American film festival. And they sometimes host Q and A's with the filmmakers, which brings alot of energy to the screenings. Obviously, it comes with the inherent pitfall of any art film venue.. you can see some real stinkers there. But another day, you'll catch something cool and memorable that you would never have seen anywhere else. There are a few cons: First and foremost, it's CASH ONLY and there isn't a convenient ATM nearby. Second, parking is confusing since it's on the Rice campus. And finally, there's no concession stand. The film calendar on their website is well-kept now, and is updated regularly. http://film.rice.edu/Events.aspx

It's really great that Rice can open this up to the public and it provides adequate space and comfortable seating and format for a variety of different events. It's never been too crowded, the screen is large and clear, good sound, fomfortable seats. Behind the theater there is a large common space for pre-or post movie mingling, eating and drinking. I have also seen some benefit concerts and auctions that are always great fun. The vibe here is great. There are two levels. So here's my take on Red Room from the eyes and ears of the long-gone club bunny inside of me... Red Room is located right down the way from More Than You Can Imagine, in a residential area where a pack of Bentleys, Ferraris, Lamborghinis line the streetside for all the commoners to drool over. Door guy was never an issue both times I've visited here (for a Christmas after-party and birthday), but it was 1am with no crowd hovering over the velvet rope, so perhaps that was the case. The venue is split into three sections with three completely different vibes. On the patio you'll find your typical smokers and groups of people-watchers keeping tabs on every person that walks through the gate. Upstairs, oh God. Upstairs is packed. It's a free for all. From the bar to the private tables where folks are poppin' bottles in celebration of yet another day to party, there's not an empty seat or room to stand in the house. And a tiny dance floor with spinning laser lights keeps the party people dancing -- or in my case, haul ass downstairs to the quiet, dark cave of a lounge. In all seriousness, I could hangout here all night. As I did with my companion, just chatting, snapping photos, and talking furniture and upholstery. (As a matter of fact, the various prints and textures gave me great design ideas.) Service was attentive down here, as two well-spoken managers stopped by to see if we needed anything. I normally don't hold it against a business when it comes to their patrons ... until it affects my experience. I must warn that this is the kind of place where no matter how upscale the club/lounge people say it is, patrons here can't buy class or manners. Expect stare downs from the ladies followed by noses turned upward ... and the fellas? Even worse. Don't expect them to say "excuse me" should they shove you over. Really, this is a recurring theme. Think trashy snobbery at its finest. What a bunch of dorks. Fortunately, this is the only establishment where I've seen such behavior, so as long as these folks stick with their kin and inhabit one spot, I'm fine with that.

The unprofessional doorman lets us know that "When you get up there, let your group know that they are going waaaaaay over their max." Um, that's not my job, asshole. We headed up to the half empty lounge and ordered drinks from dorky bartenders who actually were dancing along to the top 40 music spewing from the mediocre sound system. Someone with no restrain decided that it would be a good idea to throw up tacky carpet, ugly paintings and cheap overstuffed couches and call it interior design. We spotted two middle aged guys lounging on the faux Victorian setees in the back, downing Grey Goose. They were being entertained by a pair of "high class" sex workers clad in polyester animal prints that lazily gyrated their hips to the unimpressive line up of pop songs. After a couple of drinks, we decided no amount of alcohol could transport us to the Meatpacking District and we scooted out promptly.
