Like most folks, I don't often wear mechanical watches anymore, smart watches are what I wear most often. However, I was given a gift 2-3 years ago, a very nice Torgoen Model T10 watch (~$200 on Amazon), I had completely forgotten about it. While cleaning my home, I came across it & it had stopped because the battery was dead. I searched on Yelp, and came across Tic Toc Jewelers. The owner TAN responded quickly & frequently to my request for a quote, and very reasonable. A few others nearby watch repairs shops quoted me nearly 50-75% more just to replace a watch battery. Please NOTE: like myself, if you Google or Yelp, there's another Tic Toc Shop near Santa Clara University on Monroe St, the owner was kinda rude - but then again, he was probably sick & tired of people ended up in his repairs while really looking for Tic Toc Jewelers which is down in South San Jose, near Camden Avenue. I am glad that I drove the extra 10-15 miles to have finally ended up at Tic Toc Jewelers on Cherry Avenue. It's tucked inside a ball plaza, so make sure you set your GPS system, or you could easily get lost But once inside, the owner was a young dude in his 30's , extremely courteous & nice, took extra care of my watch in merely 10 minutes, and after successfully replacing the battery, he took extra time & effort to clean my watch - after all, it's been 2-3 years since it's been used. I hope everyone will take the extra small drive to support a local small business, that many are unable to survive the COVID lockdown period. Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I found this place. The place I used to go to was also very close to where I live, and I was very disappointed when they closed. So I was glad to find this place. I knew I was in a good place, when I walked in and saw all of the clocks and timepieces. I brought my watch in for a battery replacement, and he told me the price, and he was able to replace the battery right then and there. Which was fantastic! After calling over a dozen watch repair shops within a 10 mile radius, this place offered the most competitive price. $65 for a brand-new capacitor for my Citizen Eco-Drive. The owner doesn't speak English fluently so the interaction felt a bit awkward at first. I had called earlier that morning to confirm the price and walked in specifically to double check before starting any work. Instead of verbally confirming again, the owner wanted to first take my watch to the back to verify that he was able to service this particular watch. After waiting about 5 minutes and asking a few times what he was doing, he finally mentioned he had already started replacing the capacitor. I stopped him immediately and reiterated that I wanted to confirm the price first. He seemed confused at first but then confirmed it was indeed $65, which matched our phone conversation. I gave him the green light and he finished the job in about 10 minutes. Pro tip: Make sure to agree on the price before handing over your watch, especially due to the language barrier. If this hadn't been the most affordable option I'd found, the misunderstanding could have led to some issues. That said, the repair was quick, reasonably priced and seems to be working perfectly. My go-to Jewelry shop! I highly recommend Tan, I've dealt with more jewelery repair shops than I can count on my hands. Half of them either not as skilled as Tan & the other half don't repair jewelry themselves but middle man the deal and take it the main source other jewelry repair shops like Tic-Toc (Tan) usually other shops will tell you they need atleast 7 days, Tan has never taken longer than 2 business working days, in fact, sometimes he even does it the same day. And his price he's very honest I had a bracelet that I needed repaired. I had a broken lobster lock and I asked him if he had an extra 10k lobster he would sell to me, and shared the photos I've attached. He responded and said I could get your new luck. Went to them in emergency to repair my ring. Morning they gave me quite of $250. They were expected to return my ring by evening 6:30 pm. I got call at 6:00pm that the cost of repair is $1200, which is more that cost of ring. I had to take to other jewelry store and they repaired it in $300. read more

I brought several watches to this store, needing new batteries. The charge is $25 per battery (not per watch). One watch I had needed 2, which they charged $50 for. That's a bit ridiculous. I was okay with the $25 per watch since it's their time and effort and nobody really does watches any more, but the battery is like 4-5 dollars, the time and effort for 2 batteries on an already disassembled watch is essentially nothing. English is understandable, but at times unclear, I had a hard time hearing if it was $25 or $45 dollars per watch. Now the good things, 1) they were very fast (about 15 minutes), 2) they tried to set my watch, 3) there is a sitting area, 4) they gave me a 10 dollar discount for multiple watches (not because of the 2nd battery, they told me that was $50 for the watch mid change). Amazing service. I took a white gold pendant in because the bail broke in half. I wasn't expecting much and wasn't even sure it could be fixed. I have been going to this shop for over 15 years to replace the batteries in my watches. The owner was awesome and very reasonable. Recently, it appears that they moved around the corner and possibly there is a new owner??? The prices the new person is charging is twice as expensive than what the old owner used to charge. I also became aware of a Convenient fee of 2.77% that was added to the charge. It was not listed on the receipt. He rolled this into the sales tax. I received an email receipt that showed the additional fee. I am not happy and will need to find a new repair shop. I do not recommend!!! read more

I came in to get my watch a new battery and the bracelet resized and the gentlemen working there greeted me instantly and helped me with what I needed immediately and gave me the walking out price. I was there maybe five minutes in and out, there is a $15 minimum to use your debit/credit card so keep that in mind. And the area is kind of in a weird spot to get to if you don't know where it is, you can see it from Almaden expressway quite easily though. There is plenty of parking on the street too.
