There has been such a buzz about this place lately with many of my colleagues raving about the coffee. In truth they did warn not to go here expecting phenomenal food, however if you want to feel welcome and have a good time then to visit. I frequent this place when I can. Here is my breakdown:
Food: Above average. Fairly boring in terms of choice, standard sandwiches etc. I have not tried many options yet though and may update this at a later time. What I can say now is that the BLATE is excellent. Their specialty it would seem. The linguini was average. My friend's salad tasted great but her risotto was bland. The bread is fantastic.
Coffee: Surprisingly excellent if made by one barista in particular! If I worked in the area more often, I would not hesitate to make this my regular spot. My flat white was very smooth , good latte art, and not bitter at all. Highly enjoyable. It should be said however that coffee is not consistent, depending on who makes it. There is a buff guy there most mornings who is absolutely brilliant but I have had terrible coffee from of the other guy, bitter bitter bitter.
Atmosphere: Interesting decor . I like the booths and the red features throughout the cafe. Was not keen on the white tables though (I smudged one a bit with newspaper ink by accident. If it stains that easily they should consider changing it)!
Service: The first waitress who served me was fairly ordinary, polite but nothing special. The second waitress who served me was very impressive (charming, attractive, exotic and knew what she was talking about). As my colleagues said, I was made to feel very welcome and I will be back for more.
NOTE: I have pointed out both baristas and two waitresses as I feel this place can be hit and miss with service depending on who you get. I make sure to get that girl or the barista to serve me as I am sure others do too. read more
