Great breakfast, wonderful staff. Took the Ferry from Circular Quay to Milsons Point Wharf, then walked about 5 minutes. Excellent place to eat before walking over Harbour Bridge. Got the Big Breakfast and it was BIG. My wife and I shared it. Love the Austrian/British bacon where they leave a giant piece of ham on the bacon strip end. Eggs poached perfectly. Toast nice and buttery. Sausage is tasty. Also go the Pistachio Biscuit. It's so yummy. Toilets are in Arcade around corner. You need to ask for a key from the restaurant staff. I will give it four stars for accommodating our special request and during one of their busier periods of the day, peak lunch time. It's a gorgeous cafe / Italian restaurant located right next to the harbour bridge in Kirribilli. Plenty of outdoor seating and people watching opportunity. Menu has a lot of Italian classic dishes and breakfast. We arrived last breakfast time and requested a breakfast menu. A friend of ours who took us here said they made good breakfast. They were very nice to accommodate us and gave us the breakfast menu. I had the full breakfast which came with eggs, bacon, grilled halumi, sausage, baked beans, hash brown and tomatoes. Nice white toast as well. Loved the breakfast and licked my plate clean :-) coffee was also good. Happily come here again and try some other things in the future :-)) good service and food arrived pretty quick. read more

It's the first time I give a bad review on yelp... I hesitated between 2 and 3 stars but the food was unimpressive. We had brunch there : eggs Florentine and the mushroom toasts. The spinach of the first dish and the mushrooms of the second one were watery, and didn't taste good. The hollandaise sauce tasted too much like vinegar. We also ordered some freshly squeezed orange juice... And that didn't make up for the bad food... Too much water and sugar was added. That was a very frustrating experience. I am a regular at this restaurant because this place has been consistently excellent in all aspects - food quality, service, ambience, you name it. They have an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with specials being updated almost daily. Everything on the menu is fairly priced and delicious - a personal favourite of mine would be the chicken fusilli pasta which is cooked with the best fresh, house-made pesto. Having seen the past reviews, I've noticed a complaint about the poached eggs being cooked in a shaped mold, however, I've noticed that they are no longer made this way and in fact, the eggs benedict with smoked salmon is to die for. The owner is extremely helpful and understanding as are all the waiters/waitresses. One of the female managers, a middle-aged Asian lady, is possibly one of the sweetest people I have ever met! This is one of the few places I have been to that serves truly authentic Italian food, and I'd like to think that my claim is credible given that I am Italian myself! Their coffee is also excellent and the service is pretty fast too. The location itself is also ideal; it's a 2 minute walk from Milsons Point station and right beside Sydney Harbour Bridge. Another short walk would land you in Bradfield Park, Luna Park and right next to the water. There is indoor and outdoor seating with heating during cold weather and the niftiest mist-cooling system during Sydney's balmy summers. If you are in the area and are looking for the perfect place to eat, this is where you need to go. read more

My wife and I stopped in to this little cafe for lunch today after walking across the harbor bridge and had a great experience. She had the lamb burger, which was perfectly prepared and extremely tasty. The burger had lots of feta cheese and a real unique use of egg plant that perfectly complemented the other ingredients. This was all served on a delicious, crusty bun and with a big mound of delicious chips (french fries). She also had an ice coffee with her meal, which was outstanding (served like a milk shake, with whipped cream on it). I had the fish and chips, which came with some chips and a really fresh and tasty salad consisting of mixed greens, onions, and tomatoes. The fish was three large pieces, each of which were perfectly battered (not too thick or too thin) and extremely tasty. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Prices were very reasonable. Indoor and outdoor seating was available, and it was really quite pleasant outside. Folks were reading and snacking, or having a glass of wine, and just hanging out. We would definitely return and highly recommend trying this place out for lunch or a quick snack. read more

I must be getting old: more and more I'm starting to dig the community vibe of Kirribilli. The lunching screenwriters. The Botox mums. The little Aloysians running around like lemmings in flap caps. This joint was buzzing at dusk on a balmy summer evening, full of well-educated, interesting people and their well-educated, interesting conversations. If meals were Oscars the prawn spaghetti was the freaking "Avatar" of the menu, with 7 out of our party of 8 ordering it. It was smashing, too. The lone wolf who'd ordered the fish - that sad, freedom-loving non-conformist - paid a heavy price for their independence and was comprehensively out-ordered. A surprise hit to finish: the affogato. They nailed it, the perfect mix of vanilla bean ice cream and rich, bitter coffee. read more

At the risk of sounding fussy, I was massively unimpressed with the Village Cafe. I've frequented some pretty amazing establishments for bfast lately and this one really did disappoint. The coffee was actually not too bad but the food was overpriced and super basic. I never trust a place with a menu that is pages long - and there was a stack of food to choose from here. I ordered something very simple - eggs, toast and salmon. The bread was straight white or wholemeal and the eggs were not properly poached - I think they used a mould like they do at McD's. Weird! Anyway, the food was fine but definitely not anything to rave about. Very, very standard. I honestly cook better than this at home. The staff were neither friendly nor unfriendly. Split bills were not allowed. I didn't hate the place but definitely wouldn't recommend it nor would I go back again. read more

I've driven past this cafe/restaurant numerous times and always noticed it was busy. We finally took the chance to pop in an have lunch here. A great place if you fancy some good pasta / Italian for a moderate price. We had two pasta mains, each $17.50, which were great. The Pene Meridione was tasty. I really enjoyed my special; handmade pumpkin ravioli in creamy pesto sauce. The waitstaff were great, and I really enjoyed the "mister" that helped keep the outdoor patrons cool in the summer sun. Very nice restaurant. The waiter was very attentive to my dietary restrictions. I got the bruschetti, which tasted great but were a little pricy. I was surprised to find out that almost all of their dishes are made with real butter (which also meant I couldn't have them..), so this is probably as close to home-made Italian food as it can get around here. Spent a great lazy Sunday afternoon here! Loved my order of excellent blueberry pancakes with cream and maple syrup, side of sausage and a skinny flat white. Sat outside in the sun and enjoyed the buzz. They are super busy and service can deteriorate as a result, reservations are recommended. read more

We dined here on a Friday night prior to seeing a play at the Ensemble. Service was prompt and efficient and we were able to have a chat with Peter the owner who is one of the nicest people you could meet. I started with the fabulous garlic prawns with a spaghetti mare to follow. My partner enjoyed the exquisite figs in prosciutto baked witha gorgonzola sauce on rocket followed by perfectly cooked whiting and veges. I had a very disappointing experience. The seafood I ordered was off and when I informed the staff about it their answer was: "I am sorry but I don't eat seafood". The manager came to our table and I told the gentleman he should check before someone else got food poisoned, but the staff became aggressive, they raised their voice at us and tried to kick us out of the place. Very rude people, mediocre and toxic food and the staff do not accept feedback from customers. The restaurant looks good from outside, but it's deceiving. I don't know what's happening and what they are doing in that kitchen, but the smell coming from that place was disgusting. Absolutely disguised but the experience from the cafe...I have received no service whatsoever...the staffs and the boss were extremely rude, and I believe it's just part of misbehaved area in the Sydney area...more... It was a good Sunday afternoon to past by this cafe to hope for an enjoyable lunch. Although it was a little bit pricey, I thought it would worth the try. We then went in for a Strawberry Frappe and a Lamb Streak burger. Unfortunately, the Strawberry Frappe did not meet our expectation, and here come the nightmare after 2 months of digestion this uncomfortable experience. We discovered the Strawberry Frappe came to our table as a Strawberry Slush WITHOUT any favor (basically, it was just an ice and strawberry blend) instead of the nice Strawberries and Creme Frappe that we all could easily get from McDonald or Starbuck. So, we had kindly asked for an exchange or simply to add milk, cream, and probably syrup that you would expect from a typical Frappe. (i.e. see how you Normally make a frappe at home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvIUUx7Dc2U). I believed it was a justified and legitimate request from customer, however to my surprise the staff refused my kind words and say NO NO NO to all or my suggested recommendation above (i.e. I did say please, sorry, and even try to ask for remaking it myself). The particular MALE bald head manager said "because my BOSS or the OWNER is here, I cannot make that change for you...normally I would...and YOU are WRONG...Strawberry Frappe DO NOT HAVE ANY milk...if it would have milk or any favor, it would be milk shake or smoothie." To my life knowledge as a journalist, I frequently eat out, I have NEVER seen these rudeness response from ANY of the restaurant I have visited (i.e. at least 1000+ Worldwide). I did then politely ask if I could cancelled the rest of my order and just pay for the drink. He refused again and said I owned HIM everything. "If you are going to order anything else, YOU have to pay for it NO matter if YOU like it OR NOT. We DID not make ANY mistake...because a Strawberry Frappe is just strawberry and ice." Well, I did say if YOUR boss is here, can you ask him to leave, so that I can join my day with my partner. He had then even try to kick me out the door because of the simply change I requested...I said well if you were to represent Australia, I was very disappointed for your service, and he responded "what country are you from? because I would be shame for your country. Well, I am from China with USA citizenship, and I have NEVER seen such a poor customer service in my knowledge area. Laster, he demand US to LEAVE the restaurant, because we are request a simply customer service that I would expected to received regardless if "The BOSS is around or not. Of course, I had refused to leave, after all I did not do anything WRONG at all. Sorry, if you are within the neighborhood and frequently visiting this restaurant, they may treat you a little bit better. However, as a recent settle to Australia, I would strongly NOT recommend this restaurant to ANY customer who deserve the outstanding customer service. As a side note, we also had requested two tap water, and they never come until we demand it again. The waitress at that time said I AM ON my break. Well, I would expect even if you were on your break, you would try to finish your job. Unless you have NO other choice, please don't come to this restaurant. I had much better and welcome experience from Garfish Kirribilli, Kirribilli Woodfire Kitchen, Ainoya, Thai Fusion, and Stir Crazy Thai. Just do not come over to absolutely ruin your day and perhaps your Sydney Life. read more
