What it is can be described as a rare culinary experience, rare in that it is obvious that fresh ingredients and know how are married to perfection! If you are visiting Starved Rock, you need to stop by this place. It's only about 12 mins away and definitely worth it. Went after our little hike with the kids and everyone there was incredibly friendly and the space is open and inviting. Wish I took pics of the food before my husband ate it - he said it was the best shrimp and grits (big portion too) he ever had. Super creamy, and flavorful with huge shrimp. We also ordered the pork belly which was super delicious too. Great drinks and vibe that you would expect from downtown Chicago but hidden in a small town. Thyme is still great. Over this last weekend, I stopped there and had the duck red curry, the Okonomiyaki, the burrata salad...all great (man, the duck red curry blew me away). We stopped by to check out the newly renovated "farm to table" restaurant, across from the Westclox building, "Thyme" featuring locally grown fare, with Midwest wine & beers. The venue was warm and cozy, including a small bar area, with friendly staff who were happy to elaborate on the food preparation. We started with a potato pancake, and a hummus dish then we enjoyed a delicious well seasoned rainbow trout with a parsnip purée, We had a grass fed burger with sautéed onions and homemade cucumber pickle, cooked perfectly. We had a nice dry red wine from Michigan, then finished with a peanut chocolate bourbon pie topped with fresh whip cream. All affordably priced- we will be back! read more

Nice outdoor seating available. My husband liked his burger. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken cutlet. The food was well prepared and piping hot. Service was good.
