Thuy's is a little off the beaten path, tucked away in a pedestrian area on Madrone Lane just off Winslow, but not actually visible from Winslow. But don't let its lack of visibility be the reason you don't go there. It is well worth a visit! The restaurant is in a cozy little space. It is run by Thuy (the owner) and her competent and friendly staff. They have great Pho, both traditional broth, as well as chicken and vegetarian broths. We really appreciated the latter since many pho places do not offer one or both of the latter. I order the chicken pho and my girlfriend the tofu and veggie. Both were delicious and filling, and they provided plenty of additional ingredients to put into our pho, as is typical of pho places. The pho was served in metal bowls, with clean chopsticks, spoons and forks provided at the table. At one point Thuy herself came out to chat with us, which was an added bonus. She was so helpful answering our questions about the food, and even gave us a much-needed lesson on how to pronounce her name when we asked. This is a solid spot to get Vietnamese food. I loved the chicken and rice. Chicken was so flavorful and came with a really yummy sauce and side salad that was so fresh. My mom loved her pho. Cozy Vietnamese spot that's a few steps off the Main Street. There's just one chef in the back so if you have a big group, the food will take a while so be prepared to wait. Earl grey milk tea half sweet with boba (3/5) I ordered earl grey milk tea that's half sweet with boba. The taste is decent but the tea aroma isn't quite there and the boba is too soft probably from over boiling. Beef Short rib rice plate (4/5) Beautiful plate with generous portions and fresh ingredients. The fish sauce over everything is delicious and the short rib is flavorful and tasty. My only gripe is that the beef pieces are mostly fat. Combination pho (4/5) Tasty and flavorful broth with a very small side of basil and sprouts. My friends and I spent memorial day on Bainsbrige island and decided to try Thuy for casual lunch. When you first walk in to order, the place looks really small. If you walk further in, you will find indoor seating and quaint outdoor backyard seating. I think it's particularly charming when places have outdoor backyards like this. Once you order, you sit down and they bring the food to you. It comes out pretty quickly. Their prices are fair for the area. It seems like everyone felt like the food was good but not great. The lemongrass tofu lacked a lot of flavor. I had to put a lot of sriracha and hoisin sauce to make it taste like something. I would probably not come back unless to try their drinks. read more

Dim sum on weekends! We saw pork buns on the menu and couldn't help passing it by. Indoor and outdoor seating. Tight quarters inside shared bench with Chairs on opposite side of table. The fried pork dumplings I think were the best I've ever had. A really delicate balanced flavor and maybe handmade wrapper something made it pop. We saw shiu mai and other traditional dim sum dishes come out. If they taste as immaculate as they looked they won't disappoint. Oolong boba was delicious too. This quaint little spot is hidden but their food was amazing! Their service was 10/10 the crew was very kind and gave us our drinks while we waited to be seated. We stopped by on our way home after a loss of the Seahawks game and we need some pho treatment, the pho was delicious and the service was great, they have two young girls working at the front, very nice young lady and I felt bad I didn't leave them a bigger tip. When you walk up to the menu outside it looks like it could be a fancy pho restaurant but when you step inside the order window is straight ahead with two tables on the side and a set of stairs going upstairs which I'm not sure where that goes. The layout is a little funky but it works! I'm not sure where the other tables were but it looked like there may be more space in the back. We were greeted by, I assume the owner or manager. She was nice. We ordered two large beef combo pho's and one child pho. The broth was good but a bit too oily for my preference. The beef, meatball, tendon and tripe were good and as expected. The portion was hearty as well. We found the price to be quite steep since for two adults and one child = $58. But I understand it could just be location and the city it's located in. This is a nice little restaurant in Bainbridge island. We were really craving pho and stumbled onto this restaurant. We ordered a small veggie Pho and it was honestly large enough for two people, and at a low price too! The pho itself tasted excellent. Found this place hiding away in an alley while exploring Bainbridge Island, and decided to get a drink. We ordered the taro milk tea with boba, and it came out quickly. We were quite surprised that it was really more of an icee/slushie than a milk tea, which may be ok under normal circumstances, but it was really cold and rainy that day and we didn't quite enjoy it. We went to Bainbridge Island on a Sunday which apparently means a lot of closed restaurants. Based on reviews we decided to eat here. Food was inconsistent and my dish was old. The curry was good according to my mom and the bahn mi sandwich was mid. Dumplings were crispy and small portion for $10. Egg rolls were $9 for 3 mini sized egg rolls. Total for lunch was $70 which is ridiculous. The worst dish was the lemongrass chicken which was cold and the salad had no dressing. read more

Yummmm yummm! This was a totally unplanned stop. We came for a big birthday celebration at the tea shop down the street. It was pretty much an 100 degrees day in august with scorching hot heat. The high tea experience was outside.. and there's just no way we can sit through it. Sadly, most places here closed down 3-3:30-4 pm and doesn't reopen till 5-5:30 pm. I was just gonna give up and get some pizza from bruciato and go eat the beach. Came across this place! Young high school kids work here with the exception of the chef lady. And lo hold, their beautiful, shaded, cooling patio! Totally hidden in the back. It was a life saver, literally! Now $19 for pho is crazy. $16 for banh mi $25 rice dish with grilled shrimp $22 for noodle salad!! $10 for spring rolls $8 for dim sum ( SKIP) Island life isn't cheap!! But $6 for ice coffee! Strong French pressed with condensed mil and ice! I got 3!!! :D Granted, I didn't order them all together. I kept going up and adding more, so each trip was a little more than the next. Overall, wasn't a cheap meal by any mean but it was definitely a haven, much needed shaded cooling meal on an island on a crazy heat wave day. Baci appreciated the shade as much too. Overall a decent, but nothing too special of a spot. I came for lunch, and decided to get a vermicelli salad bowl. It came out super fast, and we got seated at a nice table near the window. There were plenty of fresh ingredients in the bowl, and the chicken was also cooked well. The fish sauce it came with was pretty good, and I also enjoyed the pickled vegetables in it. Cute place, I like their blackboard menu, but the food is kinda mid. Got takeout here a little while ago, everything I got was just super basic. Really not a lot to say about it, especially the pho, nothing was terrible but nothing was great. Price pretty much par for the course. Their banh mi was bizarrely spicy. Like, not difficult to eat, but just a lot more jalapeno on there than I would've expected - I'm not really a fan of spicy food when it gets to the point where pepper is most of what I'm tasting. Other than that I would've liked the sandwich, despite it being pretty simple - I used to get a very similar one at my school cafeteria for $5 minus the jalapenos. Classic crusty baguette, good amount of mayo (for my preference,) reasonably flavorful chicken. If I was really hankering for a sandwich like that and couldn't be bothered to make one myself I might get it again. If you like Vietnamese food and you're on the island, this place'll get the job done, but don't come with too high of expectations or you may end up disappointed. read more

You order at the counter and seat yourself outside at the tables -- they bring the food out to you. It's definitely a bit slow since the restaurant is short-staffed so I would avoid coming in a rush. The folks running the place were very sweet, though! I got the Banh Mi with Tofu and added the egg -- the actual sandwich was fairly good, though definitely heavy on the cilantro.
