wonton soup mapo tofu chicken chow fun
AJ L.

Decided to give them a second chance after coming shortly after their opening in 2018 - unfortunately, their food really just seems to range from "ok" to mediocre. As noted by a number of other reviewers, just about all of the Chinese takeout staples - fried rice, chicken and beef stir fries - aren't particularly memorable here; not terrible, definitely a step up from Safeway's food bar across the street but maybe not by enough to really justify spending more. None of their appetizers were particularly impressive either. Tried the wonton soup - very simple-tasting but not in a good way; The taiwanese popcorn chicken - decent salty peppery garlicy flavor (hard to go wrong) and "karaage-like" texture but fairly overseasoned. I didn't dislike the crab wontons but the texture was a little tough rather than light and crispy and the filling was much more cream cheese than any noticeable crab. While everything seems more or less competently executed and nothing - save the "authentic" mapo dofu - was outright unpleasant to eat (not on account of being too spicy but just because under all the ginger and pepper it really just didn't taste very good), at best their food seemed pretty much on par with what you could get frozen at the store. Would be nice to see them maybe narrow down their menu and refine their seasoning/core dishes a little bit to make them feel a little more worth the price but I'm not holding my breath. To their credit, the portion sizes are decently generous - assuming you aren't a super big eater, you could get away with ordering 1 dish for dinner and spreading it out over multiple days with rice. As far as the quality of food goes compared to the price... unfortunately, it's pretty much par for the course here on Bainbridge.

Singapore curry noodles Chicken egg rolls Very good..

Came in for lunch and tried Singapore Curry Noodles. Thin rice noodles with egg, bbq pork, and shrimp in a curry sauce. Very good. Added in a spoon of chili paste and it hit the spot. Very good food. Chicken egg rolls were delicious. Come check them out

Mapo Tofu

I think people are sleeping on Pau's. I agree that some of their typical "Chinese-American" dishes (general tso's chicken, etc.) might not seem great, but I thought it was okay/good. Yes, the breading on the general tso's chicken was reminiscent of the sweet and sour chicken breading, but the sauce was still general tso's sauce... and guess what? The chicken was crispy and crunchy, even under the sauce. Also it was white meat! Additionally, here are some other dishes I thought were pretty good. The mapo tofu (hot and spicy- yum!), Taiwanese popcorn chicken- (I have missed those flavors!), and beef chow fun. Admittedly the beef chow fun was just okay, but I'd still get it again! I'm actually excited to try some other dishes like the salt pepper tiger prawn, pork belly noodles, and dry sautéed green beans with minced pork. In all, I think if you go with the more "authentic" cuisine on the menu, you'll fare better. I would say give them a try, the food is pretty good. PS- The lighting was not great in my pictures. The food tasted so much better than it looks in the pictures!

Always a good and quick take out option. The pork Chow Mein is out standing. Parking can be a challenge.

Good Chinese takeout. There are a few tables for eating in. The one down side: after COVID, they stopped serving hot tea.

Classic windowless building showing its age. Nice, clean interior. Plentiful seating. Pleasant, attentive, and patient waitperson. Clearly this was also a spot frequented by regulars. We all brought ice waters, hot tea upon request, and started with the soup of the day. We focused on featured lunch combos listed on the menu, which were definitely old school Chinese American. The three selected were: *Sweet & Sour Pork w/Pork Fried Rice *Sweet & Sour Pork, Broccoli Beef w/Pork Fried Rice *Beef Chow Mein, Almond Chicken w/Pork Fried Rice These lunch combos were generous and yes, we all had to ask for takeout containers at the end of our meal. And what Chinese meal would be complete without a fortune cookie. They give you one of those, too. I've sat at both the comfortable booths and the tables. We knew we wanted Chinese food so we made a point of trying more than 15 places before choosing here. The food was so fresh and delicious. We ordered several trays of food for the event along with other Western catered food. At the end of the event, the food from Asian Kitchen was completely gone while we still had other catered food left over. It was clearly a hit. So much so that one of the attendees ended up ordering catering from here for one of their events and we are also ordering catering from them for another upcoming event. We have been so impressed with the quality that we have made special trips out to Asian Kitchen to eat and we live more than 45min away. It has been fantastic every time. Check out the Orange Chicken. It is one of the best we've ever had. That said, everything we've had has been amazing so I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. :)

I ordered the Szechuan Beef with won ton soup and fried rice. 12.95! Real rare find in Seattle now and hard to find a lunch special combo at all. It's also nice to have the won ton soup option. It just has 2 wontons broth and scallion but was good. And a really good veg egg roll! The Szechuan beef was very good and pretty good size. Not entirely authentic Szechuan but I would order it every time. It needed a little chili sauce per my tastes. Service was quick with family operators and grandpa was my water and food runner. Their menu looks pretty good and reasonable pricing so we are going to try this for dinner sometime.

The outside of the restaurant looks a bit shady but once you go inside, you see a welcoming site of an elegant restaurant twith plenty of lighting, tables and chairs. The service was okay, the female employee who helped us felt dismissive while forcing politeness. She came by too quickly when we were browsing their decently sized menu. Eventually, I got their Kung Pao chicken with fried rice and egg flower soup while my boyfriend got their almond chicken with fried rice and egg flower soup. The food was pretty good and generous for what you pay for. The fried rice had a very pale color, which I wasn't used to. It was just meh, as well as the egg roll and cream cheese that came with the food. The egg flower soup, kung pao chicken and almond chicken was delicious.
