The line was incredibly long on Friday night and they don't take reservations. We waited for about an hr before being seated and the tables were close together. It was quite chilly. We ordered the cauliflower, korean popcorn chicken, truffle mac and cheese, the noodles, and the kimchi paella. Of all, I would only go back for the kimchi paella which was special and very yummy. The korean popcorn chicken and truffle mac were good food nothing unique. I recommend getting there right at open or else you will most likely have to wait.... but it is most definitely worth it. I've tried almost everything on the menu. Came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and we were told that there's a 60 minute wait - I gave my number, fully expecting never to come back to this place again since we were starving. We walked around a bit and ended up going to 2 different places for light snacks (yeah that's how we roll) and I ultimately got a text 80 minutes later that our table was ready. We were within 5 minutes away, so decided what the hell. The menu is amazing. I could smell truffle as I walked past a couple of tables. It's a small place, the tables are very close to each other. We could (unwillingly) overhear most of the conversation from an adjacent table. We started off with the Lychee Reach Rich - the obligatory "light in your drink" drink. It was quite potent. They have small plates, and generally two per person is recommended. We started off with their signature truffle mac and cheese, edamame dumpling and charred broccoli rabe. Later on we ordered the Korean popcorn chicken, which the server warned us could take up to 20 minutes (it took 25 I think). We happily agreed to wait to cool down a bit, and chatted with our other non noisy neighbors, whose food we'd been swooning over (they'd been doing the same to us). Outstanding food - best tapas place I've been to, ever. The edamame dumpling was extremely tender and flavorful (reminiscent of the edamame ravioli at Buddakan at Atlantic City which is a favorite). The truffle mac and cheese is pure delight, and that's saying something, considering I hate mac and cheese. The charred broccoli rabe was spicy and sweet, complimenting the other two starch items well. We were saturated with food by the time the Korean popcorn chicken came, and even then we finished more than half of it - tender, juicy, crispy with an amazing sauce. Ready to sleep off almost, we were further delighted by our neighbors who insisted on getting a dessert for my girlfriend's birthday. So yesterday we wanted to go someplace else but they were full and I realized that this place was near by and I had been wanting to try Thursday Kitchen for so long we finally got to go. It's tapas style so the 4 of us got 6 tapas to share and they were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend the truffle max and cheese and the Korean popcorn chicken. Thursday Kitchen, in the East Village is the sister restaraunt to Mokyo and features small plate Korean dishes blended with Spanish and French influences. The menu is split between veggies, seafood, meat, and starches and we recommend trying dishes from each category to enjoy the versatility of the menu. Interesting food - Asian Tapas is what I would call it. Lots of small dishes to be shred while you are drinking good booze. This is what to do here. Staff is very friendly, they let us hang out and drain our bottle of sake in the vestibule under the EXIT sign while we wait for space at the bar. This place is really good, just not for a fatass like me. I came with a growling stomach, not knowing what to expect. Service: 5/5 Food: 3/5 Once we entered we were seated quickly inside and was able to sit at the corner of the restaurant. It was pretty busy at the time that we went (Friday, 6pm) and it was quite loud inside. Our waitress came to us and told us that she reccomends that we order at least 2 dishes per person because the dishes are quite small. She also told us that it's best to order eveything at the beginning because if we order again after eating, it would most likely take about 30 minutes. Since we were not that hungry, we ordered the kimchi paella and the lucky noodle. From the pictures on Yelp, I was super excited to dive into the kimchi paella and have some mussels as well since it's been awhile. Sadly, when the dish came out, there were no mussels. I looked back onto the menu and saw that they must've taken it out from the menu. The kimchi paella was delicious, some areas of the dish however was sour. The rice was moist and the shrimp was a perfect match with the dish. The lucky noodle is very creamy and had a mix of different flavors. There are more vegetables in it then noodles itself and they had celery which I did not think fit well with the dish. The dishes are quite small as the waitress told us and personally for the price you pay, it is not worth it at all. Also, one of the waitresses that was on her first day at the job was constantly refilling our glasses with water. I remember reading about their Adult Capris originally and thought that was an interesting idea and that was what made me visit. They are soju infused drinks that each have a different flavor and come with a light up ice cube. Thursday was the first place in NYC to have such a drink and it is their most popular draw in addition rn the great food. But then I was floored by their menu selections. This is a Korean fusion establishment where Chef Kay offers dishes partly based upon her travels. The menu is divided up into four parts. I have tried every single dish during my multiple visits so I will mention / highlight some outstanding recommendations. VEGGIE One of the newer dishes that was not there during my original visit is the NOT SO PLAINTAIN (pan seared sweet plantain, Korean chimichurri, honey ricotta, roasted pistachio and dried cherry). This was recommended by the manager when the menu was updated and they kept it on ever since. This was inspired by a trip to Spain and is most certainly one of my favorites. The EDAMAME DUMPLINGS (steamed, citrus truffle oil, green pepper, parmigiana) are very unique in that no other restaurant or establishment offers it. SEAFOOD The favorites are the EEL TACO, KIMCHI PAELLA, TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE and the SOFT SHELL CRAB. Each dish has its own unique look and flavor that is aire to please. MEAT The top choices here are (but not limited to) the STEAK (served with sautéed kale and feta grits), POPCORN CHICKEN, LAMB MEATBALLS and DUCK CONFIT EMPANADAS. Certain dishes like the steak take at least 20 mins to prepare as each dish is made to order. STARCH The LUCKY NOODLES are spicy and the GNOCCHI offers up Chef's version of the popular pasta. DESSERT I always save room for dessert. Hands down the POPCORN CARAMEL ICE CREAM is a personal favorite that has always been on the menu. Salted caramel with popcorn will have you licking the plate clean. The newer items include an EARL GREY FLAN (with a dried apple crisp) and BREAD PUDDING. Chef originally had the classic flan which was so perfect and delicious (inspired by her travels). She then elevated and differentiated it by adding the Earl Grey into the equation. The flavor activates your taste buds immediately and is not overbearing at all. This is one of the more unique desserts that you would see on any menu. Whenever friends visit from out of state or country, I always recommend Thursday. Everyone that I have brought has had a wonderful experience. The staff always provides an excellent experience even though the place gets packed (they recently added a menu extra table in front of the bar I noticed on a list recent visit). They have a system where the servers consistently check in on you. Everyone is always so pleasant and welcoming. Chef Kay is usually busy in the kitchen. Sean is on the floor helping customers and making sure things are running smooth along with Bernard the manager. It was just two of us and there were 4 waters on the table. They took two away and still took a few minutes to even come back to our table. My company and I already knew what we wanted to order. I was not pleased that the waiter, tried to get us to order everything we wanted at once. We felt rushed and I insisted we order only 2 of the 4 dishes we wanted first and our drinks. For drinks we got the Capri- Thursdays, which are those famous glowing pouches. I had the strawberry, my company had the Lychee. Both taste great, don't recall if it gave a nice buzz, since I already was buzzed lol. We started with the not so plain-tain which is pan-seared sweet plantain, korean chimichurri, honey ricotta, roasted pistachio, dried cranberry. It had a good taste, the plantains were a bit too soft to me, and it was only about 5 or 6 small pieces. Nothing to great. We also had the truffle mac & cheese with manilla clam, truffle oil and basil. The truffle taste cannot go unnoticed, this was absolutely delicious, not overally cheesy, the taste is amazing. The kimchi paella had a strong saffron taste and subtle kimchi. It is slightly spicy. The truffle Mac & Cheese is so good you can eat it all up. But we just shared because we wanted to try 8 different dishes between the 4 of us. But we loved the kimchi paella which was more like a risotto that we ordered a second plate. The second paella that came was so little. The person that dished it out probably gave us only 1 ladle. The matcha bread pudding was better than the popcorn ice cream. Pretty strong and you cannot really taste the soju, which is great **** The food overall was pretty good. It is a Korean fusion tapas place so the expectation is small plates, but you would have to get so many plates to fill two people and for that the bill can kinda sorta rack up. The lucky noodles came in a small soup bowl and was $13. I can get a full-sized bowl of noodles for $13 and be full... Not really a fan of the price point, but the service here is amazing. Our server gave us a background of the restaurant, told us what is it about, and helped us order the food. I would go here for a snack instead of dinner. I would definitely come back here. Been wanting to try it for a while and it did not disappoint! The wait was long but they had bar and outdoor seating available right away so that was great. Their glow drinks in a pouch are one thing they're known for so ofc tried those - they were strong as HELL be ready for a ride!!! Our waitress was super nice since I spilled mine the second I picked it up. She wiped it all up and even had the bartender make me a new one for free - a real one. then alll the food was incredible and so flavorful. They said the food would take 30-40 minutes to come out but it didn't take quite that long. Everything is super fresh since they bring it out to you the second it gets put on the plate. Based on my ratings below I think this comes out to a 3.5 but rounding down bc I think the reviews are a little over hyped. Here's what we got.... Heirloom tomatoes (3.5/5).... The tomatoes themselves were great. Ricotta was light & didn't add anything tremendous. Didn't wow us. Chrissy chicken (3.5/5)... sauce is good but it's not particularly crispy. Definitely not breaded fresh & didn't taste like anything special. It's good but not great. Gnocchi (4/5)...this was probably the most unique and flavorful. Definitely a good dose of spicy. Gnocchi was cooked well. Plantain (3/5)... a little hard and chalky plantain. Siracha goat cheese was the star. Also good dose of spice. But not worth $12 price tag. Ambiance (3/5)... we were seated in the bag and the speaker blown having us listen to a constant buzzing sound during the entire meal. There's only 1 bathroom so be prepared to hold it. They use plastic cups... like come on. For $50 pp meal I'd prefer to drink out of a glass cup. Service (4/5)... fast, advised on # of plates early on. No complaints. There'd been so much buzz around Thursday Kitchen about both the food and the wait times. I finally had a chance to come last Saturday for an early dinner at 6pm. They infamously don't accept reservations here, but my friend and I snagged a table for two easily. After years of hearing about this restaurant, I'm disappointed to say I wasn't impressed with the food. We ordered the kimchi paella, pop corn chicken, steak, and chilaquiles. The steak was phenomenal, but everything else fell a bit short. The steak was a must order and quite frankly, I would've ordered two if I had known how good it was. The beef was buttery in texture and flavor, the feta grits were deliciously creamy, and the vegetable was sautéed in a tangy sauce that cut the heaviness of the grits beautifully. Idk what the sauce was made of / if it was gochujang inspired or what, but I'd put it on any stir fry. The kimchi paella felt like a glorified kimchi fried rice that was pretty wet. It didn't have as much punch / spice as I expected. The popcorn chicken was also wet and saucy, and my friend saw it akin to a high end version of sweet and sour chicken, just with a different sauce. The chilaquiles I could've skipped altogether. The corn tortilla was crispy, but it just felt like I was eating fancy chips in strip form. The service was good and the staff was very kind and patient. I had higher hopes for this restaurant, but I'm glad I at least had the opportunity to come and try. read more

They have a considerable amount of seating, indoors and outdoors (front and back of the restaurant). I came here around 6:30 on a Saturday night and was told there would be a 20 minute wait and that I would randomly be seated indoors or outdoors (depending on what table opens up first). Once seated, there is a QR code for you to scan on your phone. My friend and I got the lychee and strawberry Capri drinks, both were really good and quite strong! For entrees, we got the broccoli rabe (really good, the caramelized cashews were awesome), the popcorn chicken (probably my favorite item) and the kimchi paella (decent but not my favorite). Steak: this is the knockout star out of the 4 tapas we ordered. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the seasoning was incredible. I wanted a giant entree portion of this. Not so plain-tains: it came recommended but it's a hard pass for me. Was very average. Duck confit empanadas: these are alright also. The frying wasn't overdone nor greasy. They don't seat you until the entire party is there - one person in our group came late and we ended up waiting an extra 1.5hrs...which is partially why I am not giving this place 4 stars - it's good but definitely not worth such a long wait. Now to the actual food/drinks- I first learn about this place after seeing the adult Capri suns so obviously I had to try it. Our server was detail oriented in her explanation of the restaurant's concept and made us feel comfortable. We decided to share a few dishes. The plantain comes with very spicy creamy sauce / goat cheese. I was not able to taste the goat cheese as much due to the spice. The kimchi paella was my favorite dish as it came with a good portion of seafood and addictive rice. And we got the capri suns ($8), which are a signature drink they offer. They play music at a level you can hear the song and also hear yourself talking. Our waitress was very sweet, attentive and kind. Kimchi paella was good. Concept of it was cool but I felt like I could easily recreate it at home. The truffle Mac n cheese was INSANELY THICK and just so creamy and rich it was really hard to finish and eat more than a couple bites. Our dinner at Thursday's kitchen a couple of nights ago was epic . The food was delicious and surprising. So much fun to share!! One day you see your friend... they tell you they've moved to the east village and their neighborhood is hopping. Not because it's the east village, but because they live right above this new trendy Korean spot. You start to wonder to yourself, how good can this place be? Would it really be worth waiting in line for 2 hours? I'm just not sure I can suffer through a 2 hour wait. I love Korean food, but it's not Ktown, and even in Ktown I get seated in under 30 minutes. But then, that same friend says to you, we're having a house warming party. House warming parties are magical, but they're also great for killing a 2 hour wait. So what do I do? the only logical thing to do! I grab a friend, take her to the party and before ringing the buzzer I pop into Thursday Kitchen on a Friday evening at 7pm. They say, it'll be between 90 minutes and 2 hours, is that OK? Sure, no problem! Just text me and I'll head downstairs. Sure enough the wait was truly 2 hours, but that's the best way to end the buzz of a house warming party. I can't remember everything we tasted, but we definitely ordered the steak, gnocchi, & edamame dumpling. The dumpling and steak really spoke to us, and my friend even said, I never order steak but this was really good! Be prepared to wait in line when you head to Thursday Kitchen and if you're looking for authenticity, head uptown to Ktown... this is an experience where you drink capri sun style cocktails, and pretend you're living your best Korean life served in the typical Spanish style of small plates. A gem of a restaurant that offers a fusion of Korean, French, and Spanish cuisines in tapas style fashion. Thursday Kitchen does not take reservations, so be here during non-peak hours or be ready to wait. Drinks - A big selling point for this restaurant is their unique drinks served in a "capri-sun" styled pouch. I got the Blah Blah Blue and it packed a punch. It was a mix of soju, blue curacao, pineapple, and lime juice. They definitely did not skimp out on the soju because it packed a punch. The pouches also include a set of LED ice cubes, which causes your pouch to light up. Neat feature! There is also a wide selection of reds, whites, beers, and an assortment of Asian spirits. Food - Kimchi Paella - You can't go wrong with a paella if you are having tapas. The texture of the paella reminds me your traditional risotto. It also includes white tiger shrimp, saffron, and caramelized kimchi. A perfect blend of flavors. Truffle Mac and Cheese - For some reason, I expected this to be more cheesy? Not sure, but it made the cut. There were hints of broccoli, truffle, and micro basil. Korean Popcorn Chicken - Nothing crazy here, but who doesn't love some crispy fried sweet and spicy popcorn chicken? Safe choice, but it does not make it any less delicious. Steak - Get the steak! It only comes in medium-rare, but who cares! It came with a soy-garlic glaze, feta grits, and a side of veggies. This was the highlight of the meal!! The server was attentive and made sure the table was well accommodated during this experience. It can get pretty loud here, so make sure you use your outside voice!
