One night I stopped by here to get a feel of this place. First impression? Great! Pretty clean, cool and chill...not too intimidating either. Josh was there to talk about my next tattoo which I wanted to incorporate with my first one. He ended up suggesting to talk to Joe who is more knowledgable on Japanese tattoos. I was looking for a place to get my first tattoo and I stopped by Thunderbolt to talk about the design and to feel the place out. There was only one artist there that day, and I was the only customer. He seemed confused and annoyed by my questions and was less than helpful. This was my first tattoo and I'm sorry if my concern was irritating to an old pro, but I was nervous and tattoos are permanent--I wanted it to be right. I go to Thunderbolt to get pierced by Darby. He is the only piercer in town that I trust these days. I have had several fun piercings done by him as well as having him fix the mistakes other piercers have made. The last piercing he did for me was a single point (dermal) piercing on my arm. Went in on yesterday for a piercing and Chad (piercer) was not but I was asked to come back today. Let me back up a bit. When I entered the shop it was very clean and inviting. The gentleman at the desk greeted me and asked if he could help. I told him what I wanted and then he let me know that the piercer was out that day. I had some questions and he was more than willing to answer. Made some small talk and he was very engaging. Awesome customer service. Flash forward to today, same greeting, pleasant and welcoming. Chad arrived, showed me the available jewelry and discussed my options. He answered all my questions even those I was hesitant to ask for fear of sounding silly. He walked me through the process step by step. Prepared me as best he could and minimized the little fear I had. Nose done in an instant with minimal discomfort (just a pinch). In and out in less than 15 minutes from the time I went to the back and received the piercing. Great location, better customer service. If I ever want another piercing, Chad is my guy. My first experience with body art and this was to be a very emotional and spiritual time for me. The plan was for Darby to copy a Tatoo my late son had designed and had worn for several years before his sudden passing. He wore the sun, moon and stars in honor of his 3 sons.
