This was my first experience with this shop and I definitely won't be recommending it to any of my friends. I had an appointment with Duel for my first hand tattoo. He warned me that the placement will make it fade more quickly, as I was well aware of. He seemed like he was trying to talk me out of it, which should have been my sign to go elsewhere, but I was already there and was just really excited to have it done. He had a demeaning attitude the whole time and the effort that he put into the tattoo was pathetic. It was immediately my least favorite tattoo and I regret not leaving to go elsewhere. After getting a nose piercing here I had a few questions days later seeing that the instruction manual that was provided by Thunderbolt Tattoo said" PLEASE CALL" (picture attached) if you have any questions don't listen to your mother, friend etc call the shop! In fact I did only to be disappointed because the only piercer (apparently the only person knowledgeable about piercing in the shop) is off for the next two days. I asked the young man otp did he have any recommendation only to be told to call another shop & hung up on. I went to Thunderbolt Tattoo to get my tragus pierced on March 1, 2021 and throughout the entire month of March the piercing had a scab or had some type of drainage coming from it. It didn't bother me so much because I thought that was part of the healing process, so I just left it alone. Yesterday, March 30th, I woke up to the piercing with the back attached to it on my bedsheets, I didn't really think anything of it and proceeded to put the piercing in my ear when I got home from work in the afternoon. But today, March 31st, at work this afternoon the piercing had come out again and I was looking at my ear in the mirror and realized that the piercing had tore through my tragus. After calling the tattoo shop, I went in to be issued my refund for the piercing. upon arrival I was welcomed by the owner of the shop examining my ear, making me look through my transaction history on my bank account to prove that I spent $69 on the tragus piercing, as if he wouldn't have known the prices at his own tattoo shop. B the best part was after he brought out $69 in cash he proceeded to say "We don't normally issue refunds, so this will be a one time thing," to which I responded "Well don't worry, I will not be returning here again" Regardless I'm more mad at the fact that the owner of the shop wasn't able to take accountability for his piercers, for one piercing it too low and two, not knowing prior to piercing that there is a 50-50 chance of the tragus piercing healing normally, but there's also a chance of healing cleft (which would result in seeing a plastic surgeon). read more

Amazing shop + amazing owner and artists! I've gotten two tattoos from Thunderbolt and plan to get many more. I recently got a lily tattoo there, and a couple of weeks ago got a lavender tattoo. I love both, but one came out a little differently than I was expecting after healing. I called the shop and Joe, the owner, immediately found time for me to come in so he could make it perfect for me, stating that they had my back, which meant so much to me. My first tattoo went really well with them, and I thought this was going to be the shop that would handle all of my tattoos going forward, however, I was sorely mistaken after the atrocious experience I had scheduling the second, and that's what this review is based on. I scheduled my appointment in late March for a sitting in early May with Duel, and like I said, had no problems with the guy whatsoever initially. I realized I had scheduled the appointment on the wrong day, so I called back an hour later to reschedule it for a few days later. No issues, no problems, nothing. A month goes by and I am on my way to the appointment, when I had a road closure, putting me about 15 minutes behind. I called at noon (when the shop opened up and when my appointment was scheduled) explained I would be 15 minutes behind and I was getting there as fast as I could. The first question was "Are you really only 15 minutes behind?" A really odd question given that we live in the day an age of GPS and that's what it was telling me, so I humored the question and said "yes, really". The guy on the phone then tells me that Duel was shaking his head saying not to come in. Given that it's almost an hour drive, I still showed up to not only prove that I was 15 minutes late, but to get a reason or explanation or something. Nothing. They only told me that I would have to wait to hear back from them on a reschedule. That was May 5th. It's now May 30th, and I still haven't received a call back or rescheduling request at all. I decided that it was time to request a refund on my deposit, and be done with them. Now, their policy is no refunds, which I fully understand if the customer is at fault, flakes, or otherwise makes life difficult for the artist, but in this case, I felt I was entitled to having it back. Keep in mind that there is absolutely zero policies on their websites about being late, so despite my better judgement, I went along with the offer of being rescheduled. It was to my surprise that when I called for my refund, they told me that I "canceled and rescheduled" and "was over an hour late to the appointment" none of which was true in the slightest. I will never do business with a company that not only steals money from me, but decides to lie about details of the day to make it sound like I was the problematic one here. Do yourself a favor and just take your business elsewhere. read more

Great place!!! Saje is the bomb! She took me on as a walk in, and even scheduled me in later on the day I wanted to get my tattoo. It isn't a small tattoo and it's super detailed so I was grateful she took me on! She's super professional. She communicated with me from start to finish. She was so nice, an absolute sweetheart! She made me feel comfortable and welcomed! Her work is more than extraordinary! Truly a great artist, you can tell she loves what she does. She paid attention to ever detail of the tattoo I wanted, and did an amazing job bringing it to life, she took her time, and didn't rush. Overall the atmosphere of the shop is great! When I came in to make an appointment, I was welcomed straight away by two artists who were sketching at their tables... I was then welcomed by Joe and he took me into the back room... Joe asked me what I wanted and he listened and suggested a couple of things while he was drawing a rough sketch on my shoulder... when he showed me what he drew I was astonished that he drew exactly what I had wanted!! I made a deposit and booked the date to get it done... The first day of my tattoo.... walked in, was welcomed by everyone and sat down while Joe prepped... I was in the back a few mins later. I was very nervous because Its been a couple of years since my first tattoo..The nerves soon went away from Joe's calming personality... It was like any other day. I was next door at Wingnuts and was intrigued by this corner tattoo parlor. Waiting for my food to be prepared, I decided to drop by and have a look. I asked the gentleman behind the counter what artist would be most suitable for Japanese style tattooing. "Joe Vegas" was the reply. Quickly, I thought about all the reasons why his name was "Joe Vegas", yet never asked. I was going to leave that a mystery until my project was finished. Apparently, after all my research and stalking, Joe Vegas has had a long history of travels and ink experience, which is what I was hoping for since I'm a little worrisome about switching artists. Spending about a good thirty minutes with Joe, we came up with something more than beautiful for my half sleeve. I was more than pleased and gave the green light to start the outline two weeks later and the outline turned out better than I could have imagined. Very happy with my piercing experience here! I came into Thunderbolt because my belly button piercing had closed up and I needed to get it re-pierced before the summer. Chad Vahila was my piercer and I had an AWESOME experience with him. I went in super nervous because needles always make me anxious. He had such a calm demeanor and was so friendly, it really eased my nerves. He also used a different kind of needle to make me more comfortable and because it was relatively easy to re-pierce he discounted it for me. On top of all of that, I was in and out within 15 minutes so it was super quick. Seriously if you're considering getting a piercing, go to Chad! I wouldn't know how the tattoos are, but I do know about the service. My partner and I were getting semi matching tattoos for my birthday. We called in advance, set up an appointment, emailed him photos of what we wanted, and paid the $50 deposit. The artist (Duel) said he would email us to confirm and give us more details. We waited two days and then called back to make sure everything was still on. The artist actually answered the phone and said he would get right on it and email us back. We waited another three days and he still hadn't. We called the shop a few times throughout that day and they didn't pick up. We emailed him again with details and he just didn't answer. We called the day of the appointment to see if we were still on or could get our money back and they didn't answer. So we assumed the canceled our appointment. They stole the $50 and messed up birthday plans. read more

I came here because Josh left Sacred Heart and joined this shop. He is BRILLIANT!!! I am not familiar with other artists at the shop, but I can tell you that Josh is definitely the go-to person. Super friendly and engaging. You can tell he cares and loves what he does. I am a pretty annoying person... I look super close at the tattoo and want every little detail to be perfect.
