    Skating rink.

The vibes are there, it truly feels like I stepped back into 2005. The only downside is the rude intercom lady. I understand that there's rules for safety, but there used to be refs and associates skating making sure that people were being safe. I would have rather had the friendly associates than a rude lady yelling every 5 seconds.

    Bright LED lights. About time.

Maybe someone IS reading these reviews. The lights are actually bright. Keep it up. It's still a bit dirty but there is forward progress. Get rid of the garbage at the end of the rink that's clearly visible.

skates (not the rentals tho don't expect nice skates lol)

Ask the Community - Thunderbird Roller Rink

Can you buy skates from here? Like professional ones.

    No you can not.

I would like to celebrate my son's bday party here. Considering we only get the party room for 30 min, is there a place where the parents can sit? Parents sitting close together would be nice so we can visit as the kids skate. Thanks

When I was there, there were seats around the ring and tables where you can buy food.

The best way to find the current schedule for the day is to go on the website and look at what events are happening for the day and month. On the website, they offer a lot of free activities for first timers, whether it be learning hockey or just even skating on ice. The public skating is 2 hours long, and they provide rental skates at an extra charge. The AT&T high school hockey also plays hockey here and at the surrounding rinks. Please come and check out this beautiful arena and enjoy your time on the ice, where it is always cooler! I guarantee you will enjoy all the activities provided at this location or any of the multiple locations in the DFW!

So, no skating during the day. The ice skates are plastic and have plastic straps on them (think roller blade style). The big problem with them is that they have absolutely no give. I literally did a lap and a half and my feet/calves were hurting so bad that I got off the ice and sat out the rest of the session. Not one person in our group lasted the whole time, and the ones who lasted the longest had to come off the ice to take off the skates and rest their feet before going back out. Also, there were quite a few large chunks in the ice; it wasn't smooth at all. One of my sisters got tripped and hit her head pretty hard on the ice (ended up being a grade II concussion) and the girl who worked there slowly skated over, asked if she was ok (to which she replied that she wasn't), and asked her to get off the ice. We won't be back.

This park seems to cater to the BMX crowd with the large scale of the tranny, hips, and transfers. When I visited, it was midweek during school hours so I can't comment on how busy it gets, but it had a chill vibe, plenty of parking, but trash and empty bottles were everywhere.

The park closes in inclement weather so you don't have to be the bad guy & say "no" to your kids skating in the rain. The park closes if there is graffiti, so kids tend to keep it clean. There isn't much viewer seating. I bring a folding lawn chair & a good book since the kids are always here for a while. As far as the kids- there are plenty of cool ramps & jumps to keep them entertained for hours, restrooms, water fountain, call button for emergencies & a place to get air conditioning. All skill levels welcome- I've seen 3yr olds through 20-something's skating. I'd give 5 stars if it had more seating & shade for observers/parents.
