Private birthday in August was awesome. The folks assigned to our party were top notch. My other…read morekids said they wanted their next birthday parties there as well... Tonight it was a different story. We went to Skatelands Denison for the KPOP Demon Hunter night was a mismanaged disaster. Kids getting knocked over, adults and kids trying to take the trainers from mine and other kids. Way overcrowded and completely understaffed. Gong show at best. Spent $52 for 3 kids to skate (I was charged and had no intention of skating) plus trainers for the kids. Was there barely an hour and witnessed at least a dozen kids getting hurt and two of my three ended up getting hurt by other people falling onto them resulting in them falling. I talked to the owner on the way out stating my displeasure over the crowded environment and injuries. Response was something like "I can't control how many people show up to these things". Yes, you can actually. This event should have had tickets sold in advance with either a more limited or timed capacity. Not just letting hundreds of people in like a herd of cattle waiting to go to pasture. The private party I held for my daughter a few weeks prior was almost $900 after gratuity. For the owner not to give a care about my comments was really disappointing. As a result I told him flat out I will not have additional birthday parties for my other kids there.

The Edge is a bowl skater's paradise. It's basically a giant bowl with 2 bowls off to the side. If…read moreyou're there to skate transition, you'll love it. If you're looking to skate street or get a nice line going, go to another park. There's not much of a street section, minus a couple stair sets and a small area that has a box and rail. This park seems to cater to the BMX crowd with the large scale of the tranny, hips, and transfers. When I visited, it was midweek during school hours so I can't comment on how busy it gets, but it had a chill vibe, plenty of parking, but trash and empty bottles were everywhere.

Review from a Mom's perspective. I feel comfortable brining my teens here. I don't see any drugs or…read morealcohol. Although I've seen people smoking- they are always outside the park. The park closes in inclement weather so you don't have to be the bad guy & say "no" to your kids skating in the rain. The park closes if there is graffiti, so kids tend to keep it clean. There isn't much viewer seating. I bring a folding lawn chair & a good book since the kids are always here for a while. As far as the kids- there are plenty of cool ramps & jumps to keep them entertained for hours, restrooms, water fountain, call button for emergencies & a place to get air conditioning. All skill levels welcome- I've seen 3yr olds through 20-something's skating. I'd give 5 stars if it had more seating & shade for observers/parents.

The concession stand is open throughout the night. I was impressed with the professionalism of the sports league. There were four teams featured at the event. There was a good crowd in attendance. There was overflow parking available next to the rink. Being new to the sport, I appreciated the pamphlet given at registration which outlined the team information, rules and schedule. T-shirts were for sale and there were opportunities to meet your favorite athletes for an autograph.

The halftime bands sound better, too, because the acoustics are better. I've sat in both floor (VIP) seats and the general (stadium) seats, and they're both good. The way the coliseum is set up, there's not a bad seat in the house. It's also on the DART light rail line, but I always drive and just pay the $10 to park. I guess you could park by one of the restaurants or bars by Exposition Park and walk over but I don't. Check their website for bout details and tickets. It's usually cheaper to get them ahead of time, which is what I do.
