My personal favorite after my salad and fried chicken
    Kabrina B.

I love this space and I know it's not for everyone. You have to LOVE good southern cooking which is well seasoned and includes a little grease. The fried chicken is delicious. If you looking for a fancy spot with table cloths, fabric napkins and glass goblets, this is not your spot. You have usually a choice of multiple meats, vegetables and starches. Once you've finished your meal you have to rest for a moment before going to the desert table which is full of goodies. Please allow me to share there is usually fresh peach or apple cobbler. It is SO GOOD. As with most buffet someone may drop a little green in the peas or some rice fall into the meatloaf but they work hard keeping the bar stocked, hot and fresh. Special note: meal includes ice tea or lemonade. Sodas are extra and there is no refill as it's not a fountain drink but a can soda. I highly recommend this place for a good home cooked meal.

This is a nondescript little buffet in with the Motel 6 just off the Interstate 95 BUT the food was actually VERY good. All the Southern classics: Fried Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Roast Chicken, Beef Tips (excellent) and Pork Sausage. Then all the southern sides: Mac N Cheese (excellent), cabbage (yum), collard greens (yum), black-eyed peas, red beans, rice, butter beans/lime beans, baked beans w sausage, salad bar. Several types of desserts to choose from. Friendly attentive service staff. Not fancy but sure was good!

Where some of the magic happens- the Thunderbird country buffet.

Probably Southern home cooking at its very best. The Thunderbird Country Buffet Restaurant may be one of those hidden gems that you have to discover when making a road trip Georgia or Florida, or proceeding through the Carolinas while on I-95. First off, the food here is not for the faint of heart. If you are worried about watching your cholesterol, there is good reason to when eating here. You'll easily have a 2,000-3,000 calorie meal when eating the country ham, sausage, fat back, buttermilk biscuits, pancakes and other pound-packing items. And that's okay, considering that this is a buffet and not a restaurant designed for contestants on "The Biggest Loser" weight-loss show. What I found remarkable about this buffet is that for $7.99, you can get a lot of food, in addition to coffee. For good eating at a low cost, you can't find this sort of deal anywhere else. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable to eat in, and the customer service was pretty good. Really good hospitality and fellowship amongst the restaurant staff & their customers, to which it appears that a number of the latter have been patronizing this restaurant for years. Aside from breakfast, the Thunderbird also has a lunch and dinner buffet schedule. This venue is inside of the Thunderbird Motel, for those that are actively looking for the restaurant.

This a turd on the sidewalk at the motel/buffet entrance. Talk amongst yourselves.

Welcome to the ThunderTurd buffet! The food was ok here. I waited a smooth 10 minutes before anyone came by to offer a drink to me. The cobbler was dry. The chicken was decent. I found a lovely bit of decor on my way back to my car...a whole human turd; complete with flies. So this concludes my review of the thunderbird buffet. Ew.

    Apple cobbler was excellent

A good solid 3 stars. Lots of good food to choose from. You an be good and stick to the salad bar, deviled eggs and veggies or be naughty with the fried chicken and fried fish. The price includes drink and dessert,

This was not a good soul food buffet experience. The food was awful- it was either over seasoned or under-seasoned.

He was SO hospitable, sweet and genuinely welcoming. He gave great recommendations and did not steer us wrong. These days, it's not always easy to come across service like that, which made it even more appreciated. I ordered the Sunset Blush drink and it was delicious. We also got the cornbread and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the BEST cornbread I've ever had. So soft and flavorful. The brisket sandwich was a little dry (could be because we went during closing) but still had really good flavor. The mac and cheese though... WOW. I am very picky with mac and cheese and most places miss the mark, but this tasted homemade. Easily a 10/10. My husband got the peach bourbon burger and said it was great. The kids ate everything in sight which is always a win...lastly the cinnamon roll cheesecake for dessert... phenomenal!!! Overall such a great experience and I'm really glad we stopped in!

After driving 15 hours on March 21, 2026, my husband and I were genuinely excited to try this place and planned to take our food back to the hotel. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly and never really recovered. First, parking is extremely limited out front, which is frustrating when you're tired and just want a quick pickup. Inside, things only got worse. The front-of-house staff was shockingly unprofessional. The employee helping us clearly didn't understand her job and had to be corrected multiple times by another staff member--something no customer should have to witness. It created confusion, delays, and zero confidence in our order. We paid about $50 for a sampler, which is not cheap, and yet the same employee argued about giving us the sides because she entered the order incorrectly. If another, more competent employee hadn't stepped in, I'm convinced it would have escalated further. Even then, we never received one of the four sides we paid for. To make matters worse, we were never asked if we wanted drinks to go, and we weren't given plates, silverware, or even BBQ sauce--basic essentials for a takeout order. That's just unacceptable. While waiting, we also watched this same employee tell three separate dine-in families to go sit and wait while she stood there rolling silverware. Completely rude and dismissive. If I had been one of those customers, I would have walked out. This is the first impression customers get, and it's a terrible reflection of how the place is run. Between the disorganization, poor communication, and outright unfriendly behavior, the service was a mess. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the food itself was actually very good. The burnt ends and ribs were the standout--absolutely delicious. But great BBQ can't fully make up for such a frustrating and poorly managed customer experience.

A Florence standout worth returning to!…read more As a San Francisco Bay Area foodie, I'm always searching for restaurants that care about sourcing, seasonality and the entire dining experience. Town Hall checked those boxes for me a couple of years ago, so when work brought me back to Florence, I knew exactly where I wanted to eat. I looked at other options first, but nothing appealed to me at quite the same level. Town Hall's farm-driven, Southern-inspired menu, shareable plates and beautiful setting won me over again. And I'm happy to report: the second visit was every bit as memorable as the first. We started with the house-made cornbread and honey butter at our server's recommendation. Be warned: this stuff is dangerous. Hot, sweet and almost cake-like, with that honey butter melting into it. We promptly ordered another basket. Cocktails were equally impressive. I ordered a Sidecar, and when our server asked my cognac preference, my colleague volunteered Hennessy. Hennessy it was--and it made one spectacular Sidecar. For dinner, our server described a scallop special served over a shrimp étouffée-style preparation with microgreens. Sold. I paired that with the wedge salad because, well, I needed some roughage. The wedge came beautifully dressed with blue cheese, tomatoes, pickled red onion and bacon. The scallops were beautifully seared and tender, and the rich sauce underneath made the dish. My dining companions joined the fun with the house-made sausage, another order of the scallops, and a ribeye with French fries swapped in for the creamed corn--a little steak frites moment. Everything landed beautifully. What impressed me almost as much as the food was the service choreography. Our server was knowledgeable, personable and attentive without hovering. There was thoughtful table touching throughout the evening. Our dishes arrived together, and no plates disappeared while someone else was still eating. Those details may seem small, but polished hospitality lives in those details. We were far too full for dessert, so we called it a night--happy, well-fed and already talking about how good everything had been. Town Hall is the kind of restaurant I hope to find when traveling for work: locally driven, interesting food, strong cocktails, beautiful surroundings and service that understands hospitality. Two visits several years apart, and both delivered. If you're in Florence--or passing through South Carolina on your way toward the coast--Town Hall is worth making part of the trip. Life is too short not to eat well, sleep well, travel well and shop well. Get out there and find your next destination.

Wonderful service, got a table right away and waiter came by immediately to take drinks and appetizer order and go over specials of the day. I liked the interior layout and that you can watch the chefs prepare entrees while you dine. That alone can be entertaining if you are dining alone. Reminded me of Ted's Montana Grill. Now for the food..., everything came out quickly. We got the deviled eggs, and New Orleans Shrimp as appetizers and the flavors were amazing. I simply had to use the corn bread to dip up the New Orleans sauce after the shrimp were gone, it was had good! After appetizers I didn't want a large meal, so I got the daily scallops special. It was just the right amount. The scallops were grilled just right, and the sauce (the sauce again!) was flavorful with a mild spice kick to it. Blueberry sorbet for dessert, locally made. Will definitely be back when my travels take me back to Florence.
