First time eating here on July 31, 2026. It was real bust when we arrived and we had to wait maybe ten minutes. Once seated, we were served quickly. The food took a minute (again, it was busy) but was well worth it. I got the fried jumbo shrimp which were very good. The serving size was huge and I took home about as much as I ate in house. It was a real good experience. read more

Mayflower Seafood Restaurant - Wednesday special flounder, pop corn shrimp, hush puppies and baked potato - Seafood Near Me - Darlington, South Carolina

Mayflower is a hit or miss in Darlington SC . For years we have enjoyed this restaurant and brought others with us. The food was always hot and not over cooked. The last few times we visited this location the food wasn't fit to eat and the shrimp and oysters were fried way too much. So we decided to try it again today. We both had popcorn shrimp and they gave us plenty except it came out warm and greasy. For what they charge the food should come out hot and not overcooked or greasy. The waitress was good and the restaurant was clean. read more

It was my mother's birthday and there were 7 people in our party. We waited an hour and forty-five minutes to be seated. They kept telling us 5 minutes. They continued to seat couple's and small parties. Instead of them holding tables and putting them together to seat our party they continued seating other parties. No one ever apologized for us having to wait so long to be seated. We will never go back there again. Also look up at the dust on the rafters. read more

Ordered the fried Mayflower. Shared with hubby. Food was delicious fresh not greasy. The service was top notch. And the overall look of the restaurant was clean and very busy. Highly recommend read more

Mayflower Seafood Restaurant - Mayflower fried. Yummy - Seafood Near Me - Darlington, South Carolina

Just had an early dinner there. All I can say is Great ! I had the 16 oz ribeye with fried shrimp. That steak was the best I've had in I don't know how long. As good as my own on charcoal and hickory. Cooked perfectly rare as ordered, juicy and tender. On the restaurant web site a review said it was the best steak in town... I think it may be the best steak in the county. I highly recommend Mayflower Sea food restaurant. I've tried several of the menu items and everything has been excellent. Great service, friendly staff. The only complaint I have, it's freezing in there. Bring your coat.. read more

My friend and I came here for dinner tonight. When we arrived we put our name on the list for a table. There were many people waiting, however we were seated in less than five minutes. Our server was at the table as soon as we were seated and took our drink order. When she returned we had already decided on our meals. We went with the haddock, jumbo shrimp combo. We both wanted a side salad and one had fries while the other wanted a baked potato. The salad was so fresh and delicious with onion, tomato and shredded carrots. Before we could finish the salad all the condiments and extra plates were brought out. I was surprised why extra plates would be needed but then the order arrived. Two full filets of haddock, eight Jumbo shrimp, fries covering the entire plate and four hush puppies piled high. Extra plates are a must to get your food not to spill it everywhere. Our server was very busy but not to busy to make sure our drinks were refilled. To go boxes were provided and much needed. The food was delicious, piping hot and not over cooked in any way. The fish was lovely and white and very flaky. The tarter sauce is by far the best I've ever had. It wasn't all mayonnaise! Wish I'd asked for extra to bring home. The only negative was that it did feel very rushed. I understand that the restaurant was busy in the middle of Saturday afternoon but I just felt that it was a rush to move a table. The restaurant is loud with all the people talking, however it is very open and it was packed. Nothing overly fancy but definitely great for a family. I'm looking forward to my left overs tomorrow and will be back when I'm in SC again. read more

Ordered food to go. I asked for peppers and onions on my hamburger steak. They put f'ing gravy. Called them to complain. Got hung up on.called them back asked for manager. Was told to bring back for refund. We live across town. Told her to give me a refund off of ticket. She refused. Not happy. Husband got popcorn shrimp. He said it tasted like old oil had been used. We work hard for our money and don't appreciate their attitude My advice don't go there. Don't order to go from there. They will fxxx it up. read more

Not sure what changed at my GO-TO restaurant for several years, but I won't get takeout again. For $24+ on a two seafood combo, I got 5 small fried oysters and a decent portion of fried shrimp. In the past, an order from here lasted for 2+ meals. Is this from tariffs? Your place has become too $$$$ for this one.... read more

A well established locally owned seafood restaurant. It's not fancy, and the decor is dated. But don't let that fool you into thinking the Mayflower is subpar when it comes to the food. The menu has just about anything a seafood lover wants, several types of fish, flounder, haddock, whiting, to name but a few. There is popcorn shrimp, jumbo shrimp, scallops, deviled crab, oysters, and more. Mayflower offers several combination platters and a 'build your own' option. You can choose to have your food fried, blackene, or broiled. Be prepared to be amazed when your food is brought out. The plates are piled high, and I do mean high. So high, your choice of 2 sides have to be brought out on separate plates! The food is hot, fresh, and flavorful. Each plate is accompanied by 5 or 6 ring style hushpuppies, a true Southern tradition. There are several sides to choose from, including Cole slaw, fresh crisp salad, fried okra, green beans, fries, both sweet and regular baked potatoes. Cocktail and tartar sauce are on the table for you to help yourself. For baked potato lovers, sour cream, honey butter, and whipped butter are provided in an abundance. For the land lovers, Mayflower has several options, but the one that stands loud and proud is the ribeye steak. Now I know many would say you can't get a good steak outside of a steakhouse. Well let me tell you, Mayflower's ribeye surpasses many a steak house steak I have eaten. First, the size, it fills a dinner plate and it's not a thin cut by any means. Cooked to your preference, your steak will arrive hot and juicy and will have your table mates wishing they had ordered one. Can't decide between seafood and steak, Mayflower offers a combination plate of steak and a seafood item of choice. There is a daily evening special and a lunch menu with smaller portions and smaller prices. The place is popular, so be prepared for a wait, especially on the weekend. The staff will get you seated just as quick as they can. There is seating both inside and out, with an intercom to let you know your table is ready. Occasionally, the service has been lacking, more to do with staff being rushed off their feet by hungry diners. So if you don't get that refil on your drink, or you're waiting on your check, Hang in there. They'll get to you. Be prepared to ask for a take out box, as few can finish everything on their plate. Ask for takeout containers of cocktail and tartar sauce, they will happily obliged. The average price is around $20 per person up to $30 for a combo plate. This includes drink and tax. Credit and debit cards as well as cash is accepted. read more

Everything is absolutely amazing. I've literally been coming here for decades and I will continue to as well

Good are so awesome, service is great to serve but need hire more since it shortage. Inside building looks great and cozy.

Mayflower is an extremely popular restaurant with locals in Darlington and with good reason. The wait staff is super friendly and efficient especially for the number of people they serve. The restaurant itself is a basic setup with plenty of tables and as casual as it gets. Nothing fancy here. The food is good, not great but the portions are huge. When you order the Popcorn Shrimp, I highly doubt it's fresh from the ocean but it is fried nicely. They have several different fish options including catfish, flounder, and whiting. All are pretty good. Nothing to write home about but good. They serve unique hush puppies with seafood orders. They aren't round balls but are actually shaped like onion rings. It throws me off every time. The place is a good for lunch if you're in the area but not a destination restaurant. One thing is sure, you won't leave hungry. read more

How good delicious food, fast and easy and on time. And get your money's worth. Hard working people

Today was a dismal failure. arrived at 11:40 and the place was not overcrowded. We were seated quickly and ordered but then thats when it fell apart. 2 adults and 2 children. We sat and sat and watched people come and go. The kids got a little antsy waiting, after an hour our food finally arrived. No special orders just the lunch specials. It was lukewarm. No one ever checked to see how we were doing or if we needed more tea. We ordered a cheeseburger dinner to go at the same time we placed our order and had to wait another 25 minutes for that. We been before and it was great but not so this time. Not even an apology for the delay. Not sure we will be returning anytime soon. read more

The best seafood in Darlington, SC. I love the shrimp, flounder, scallops particularly!!

I took my folks here on a Saturday a week ago. It was basically what we expected. Piles of sea food that was tasty and very filling! Go on an empty stomach because you'll want to clean your plate! Service was as good as the food! read more

Nice place with friendly people. Service was great. And didn't break the bank. Food was good.

Well I'll start off with the wait. Which there was 12 of us so we had a 30 minute wait. Our order was quick and drinks arrived fast. The first refill was slow coming but after a few mins our waitress was spot on. The food was outstanding and very large plates. I got the fried seafood platter. Shrimp, oysters, flounder, deviled crab, scallops. $19.99 was the price. I had some to take home. Not many places give the food like this place. Now I didn't like their hush puppies at all. But to each their own. Sweet tea was good too. read more

Food was over abundant!! You could feed a family of four with one order. Business was steady but our party of six were seated right away. A mix of foods were ordered but my husband ordered the steak and ordered the 'Pick 2" I requested the shrimp and clamstrips, the clamstrips were not available, the waitress said they hadnt been able to get these for quite a while. I chose scallops instead. When my plate arrived I was shocked to say the least. The seafood plate was piled so high that my baked potato was on a separate plate. Both the seafood and the steak were perfect. Steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Seasfoof was not overly seasoned so you could enjoy the taste of both the shrimp and the scallops. My only suggestion is that if you order the 'pick 2' that they tell you that there is a $2 upcharge on shellfish. ( I personally consider all seafood shellfish) but even with this charge my meal was $19.99 and it could easily feed four people! Definitely a need for another visit. Nothing fancy about it but the food more than makes up for it. read more

The food is wonderful, big portions for the price and our waiter was the best! He had a few tables with lots of people and us, a party of 2 and he never let us down! He kept up with our refills and even brought the check without us having to ask. I can't wait to come back! read more

First time going to Mayflower on my way from North Carolina to Charleston. Saw lots of cars in parking lot so decided to stop. My wife and I both got lunch specials , she got popcorn shrimp and I got baby flounder. The seafood was delicious and the portions are huge. We should have gotten one meal and shared it because we both could not eat all that we got. The price is very good for what you get and the waitress was highly efficient. Will definitely stop here again in the future. read more

Wait to be seated was ridiculous as we simply stood there being walked past by staff. Once seated waitress was friendly and attentive. Catfish platter and flounder platter had large portions, lacked seasoning and definitely was not fresh. The fish was so mushy on the inside it had to be sent back. The waitress was kind and got it replaced. Basic set up, nothing fancy. read more

Their food is amazing. It is a family owned restaurant. You get plenty of food for the money! I highly recommend this place.

If I could give this restaurant less than a 1 star review I absolutely would! The wait time was ridiculous and then once we were seated the area was disgusting!! Food was all over the floor and the cleaner was upset when asked to clean the area. The waitress was very rude; she abruptly walked away from taking our order in the middle of a sentence to go work with another customer. I would HIGHLY NOT recommend!!! Save your money! read more
