Their party leaders were engaging and helped us with making sure things ran smoothly - the space is also beautiful. We have come to TWO for other programs and to meet with a therapist regularly and everyone has been nothing but kind and understanding. My first visit here they offered to make me some tea while I waited with my baby. The space is kept quite clean despite having so many kids go through it doing all sorts of cool activities. One day some are gathering to play Dungeons & Dragons another day they are baking cookies or they are having a music class. It's an incredible place serving kids of all abilities and it's a beautiful love letter to the diversity in our community.

University students and alumni from UBC come and hang out here, too. The jukebox is always playing. Bands play on Wednesdays and weekends. It could get soooo packed especially if the band playing has a following. Servers are sooooo accommodating that they've actually become my friends! Regulars are very welcoming, too! And the drinks! The drinks are cheap! Like c'mon.. $4 for single highballs, $9 for double Glenfiddich, $5 for beers! The pour on cocktails is also very generous. Lastly, you and your friends will be undisturbed here. You guys can even show up in costume and they would think it's cool! You can also order pizza or bring a cheeseboard for all they care. They also have a decent sized communal working area with outlets so I see some students and groups meeting there to work. It can be a bit rowdy at times during peak hours because of the high school students. Once they leave, it is quiet again. Generally I go in the morning so it is not an issue for me. The gym is clean and there is usually an attendant sitting inside the gym. It's a good beginners gym. They offer workout classes including spin classes. No contract membership, but there is a $5 charge to cancel. Also, the pass can be used at any Surrey Rec Centre. I came here and discovered there was no parking. Well, the parking lot was across the road and seemed to be attached to the school nearby. It was full that day. I was lucky to find street parking though it was very limited. The library occupied a corner of the building and had probably 10 aisles or less for books to accommodate adults, youth and children books. There were some tables and chairs for patrons to study but this place was beyond sad. The community centre building was really small though it did have a sizeable field behind. That was a bit more spacious. I do hope it will be expanded as the Queensborough area is growing in population and this will be a nice place for the residents to connect with each other.

This community centre is very responsive to the neighbourhood…read more The kid's gym class has been going for years; I am certain that kids of kids are now attending and learning whole body movement. Ballet for all levels from toddler to adult. Line dancing for those who line dance. The library, while small, is well-run and with the floor to ceiling windows, is bright even on a rainy Vancouver day. Important sporting events are shown on the tv in the lobby, popular cartoons at other times. The gym is small, but well-equipped for an average to high workout. It is not a gang-banger hang-out. The gym is definitely inclusive; some folks are there with their gym buddies, others devise a circuit work out, others engage a personal trainer. Currently paper towels are used for wipe downs- I bring my own cloth and toss it in the laundry with my gym clothes. Front desk staff are mainly pleasant; they deal with a diverse clientele and seem to manage well. Focus on "community" and you will have an enjoyable experience at Mount Pleasant Community Centre. Located at 1 Kingsway, across from Gene coffee, parking is a disaster, bus 3, 9, 8, 99 are close by.

And I been to gyms in 3rd world countries like Laos and Cambodia. What's a good comparison to this gym? It's like a hotel gym but worse. This gym is very very small. If you actually lift bro, you won't last in this gym. It totally makes sense why you can only book 1 hour and max of 20 people, because if there were 20 people in there, there would be no space left to workout, it's really that small. There's no equipment in this gym, it gives you the bare basic amount of gym equipment to call it a gym, there's like 5 treadmills, 1 stairmaster, a couple bo-flex apparatuses. There's some free weights and some squat racks. But yea this gym is pretty bad in terms of what you have to workout with. If you pay for a community center membership for about $500 a year, you would be bored within a month due to the lack of size lack of equipment. I came without my phone because being on your phone is a huge distraction at the gym, even having ear pods in, you're not gonna totally focus on your workout. Kind of a bad idea because there is NO music whatsoever here. It's deadly quiet. Even the people that lift, the noises of people exercising is quiet, top 5 quietest gyms. Being new to Vancouver, I liked the thought of a "community center" where ppl in the community can get ripped together, but there is none of that in this gym. Definitely a 1 star gym, gonna give it a 2 star reviews, because the center probably does good things for the community, the staff here is friendly, I saw some kids workin out downstairs. It's called The Gathering Place for a good reason…read more This community center and homeless shelter based right in the heart of downtown Vancouver is truly one of a kind. Offering everything from laundry services with same-day pick-up (for a low price), public washrooms, and temporary shelter and overnight facilities, this is as good as it gets for the needy in the Lower Mainland. But you don't necessarily have to be needy to pay a visit. I first heard about this place from a good friend who used to work for The Gathering Place, telling me that I should drop by for lunch or dinner one of these days. You've got to be kidding me, I initially thought to myself. Why would I go to a community center when I am literally surrounded by food, in one of the most renowned food hubs in the country that is Vancouver no less! Nonetheless, being the hungry tourist that I am, and intrigued by what this establishment could possibly offer in the way of delectable nourishments, I followed the advice of my friend. Lo and behold, to my amazement I came to find myself at the foot of yet another hidden gem in the concrete jungles of downtown Vancouver. By the gods, everything from curries and pastas to salads and sandwiches, from the sea and from the mountains, The Gathering Place's professional chefs will have you leaving satisfied with simple, tasty staples and generous portions. They have truly proven that they deserves a place among Vancouver's most underrated and cheapest dining establishments... ... serving each meal at a surprising $2.00 per meal. Yes, you read that right. $2.00. Per. Meal. Not only do they have a diverse, astonishing and, might I add, nutritious assortment of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, but the meals here are served three times a day at specific intervals which can be found on their website (9am to 11am, 12pm to 230pm, and 5pm to 7pm). Each meal is portioned well, generously served in a recyclable, aluminum container, placed inside a paper bag along with the standard eating utensils. As well, a fruit juice box as the accompanying beverage included in the meal. In the two times I've visited The Gathering Place, this has been consistent. The lineups, which can sometimes extend up to half a block in length, are a testament to not only the quality of food you can find at The Gathering Place, but for the relatively good service and facilities that they provide to the community. And so now, we see why this community center is a premier place for locals from near and far to gather and enjoy a hot meal away from the elements. As long as you don't mind braving the outdoor weather or politely standing in a line for a while, The Gathering Place is indeed a safe place to go for a relatively decent bite to eat, especially if you're strapped for cash. Food aside, I'm actually pretty happy I've discovered this place. Vancouver's homeless have it good, man. In fact, better than I thought before I found out about The Gathering Place. It's nice to know that the City of Vancouver has these kinds of services available to those who may be in need. I'll definitely be recommending this community center to anyone who needs a place to stay for the night or needs access to services to help get them back on their feet. Support this local establishment! The next time you come across a hungry person, give them a toonie and tell them to come here for their next meal instead of letting them spend it on McDonald's.

Everything from the décor, to the yoga studios, to the rooms for rent and even the washrooms. Our family attended a children's party that some friend's of ours held in the Cyprus room and we were impressed. The staff were friendly and engaged the kids as well as the adults, the toys were in excellent shape and the whole area was clean. By area I am referring to the play area, kitchen and the washrooms. There's even a playground right outside the room if you want your kids to get some fresh air. If you're thinking of hosting your child's birthday party, I highly recommend this community centre.

People need to be more considerate of others.There's some of us who just want to relax and be left alone. It gets overcrowded, they close on weekends and holidays which is not very cool.
