Saturday February 18th 3:00 p.m. Needed to use the restroom…read morebefore shopping. Saw an employee go in. I waited 5 minutes... ... and another 5 minutes... Then hear videos being played in the stall. I asked the employee, "are you just sitting there watching videos?" He smugly replied, "yeah, I am" and turns up the volume. I go to a manager to complain, and I can't get him to even acknowledge my presence. I tried to tell him about the employee sitting in the bathroom just watching videos. He ignores me. No comment. Nothing. Straight out ignores me as if I was not there. When I go up the counter to make my purchases, he's behind the counter and won't make eye contact. On any other day, I would have nothing but praise for this store. I don't know the manager who ignored me, nor do I know the employee that was having his movie break. I don't know who, if anyone, was in charge. As a customer, I feel very disrespected by this treatment. I'm, however, so pleased that employees watching videos in the bathroom have a higher priority than customers. In any case, when a customer comes up to an employee, (let alone a manager) and has a complaint, be professional at least and have the common decency to not ignore the customer. I had come to expect more from Kwik Star.

The past two times I've been in (near closing time, but I'd never had this experience before recently) the boys working have been very rude. I believe it was the 26th, the boys working were shouting and swearing with customers in the store, and just tonight (the first) the boy working was sitting on his phone when I came to check out, and rushed through my transaction to get right back on the phone. I get it, it's late, but at least be better about pretending to work :(

I was running low on gas and happened to be by the new hy vee gas station on University. I filled…read moreup and paid at the pump before I went inside. When I went inside I was greeted by the clerk at the register. The place smelled of delicious coffee. They also have a Caribou coffee attached to the station that is accessible from outside or through the station. I went and used the restroom before I walked around the store. They were very clean and very nicely tiled. I also really like that they offered both paper towels and the blow dryer for drying your hands. For a gas station bathroom it definitely deserves five stars. I wasn't going to get anything but the aroma of coffee made me want to cappuccino. They had 18 flavors of cappuccino. I had a very hard time deciding which one to go with. They all look so delicious. They also have several slushy machines several flavors of fountain pop and coffee. They carried the normal gas station fare such as beer sodas and candy. They had fresh items probably brought over from the hy vee grocery store such as sandwiches wraps and salads. They also had stuff like pizza by the slice and roller dogs. The whole gas station was very spacious and clean. Other hy vee gas stations I've been to in the past are small and cramped. This one definitely competes with the quality of a kwik star gas station. I just may have to go out of my way more often to get gas and cappuccinos.

Between the friendly staff, the comfortable and hip atmosphere, and the delicious menu, it's a must have pick-me-up! The only criticism I have is that the staff needs more training. The manager is excellent at making drinks...the others, not so much. (But I'm sure the expertise will get better in time.)

New location with convenient services…read more This location is not accessible to semi trucks and is located in a mostly residential area but conveniently off of Greenhill Road. There are several gas pumps as well as a 1 stall automated car wash. The store is well staffed and the staff is very friendly. Inside they carry about anything you could need from snacks, drinks, beer, milk, bakery items, coffee as well as hot food like sandwiches, pizza, hotdogs and fried chicken. In their coolers they have prepackaged meals, dairy items and packaged meats. The store has been clean and well stocked since opening. The store has been busy since opening but they do a nice job of opening more registers if needed.

I usually pop in here at least once a Cedar Falls visit. This is the only place my sister buys milk…read moreand cream. Training is easy but from my experience they seek people who will turn over quickly saving possible pay increases. Really nice employees who will never reach the higher pay that they deserve. Again, skip this employer.

Tried applying for employment at two different Kwik Star locations near me and I provided my…read morereferences, several times and several different ways but they insist on their perspective employees to provide a minimum of 3, they would like ten, references, only current and former bosses, all within a 24 hour time frame or you have to start the entire application process all over again, and they do this via a third party company because it takes so long to call a few references. They demand to provide third party company called outmatch with employee's information and line up a mass reference check for said third party company, then they have people in a position to demand that they give a review and of course I people are going to take time out of their day to provide a reference for someone they would then also feel obligated to say something nice in a review about the place where the person they have the reference for, right? Why else is the whole matter done like such? I've been working for 30 years, all I ever had to provide was an application and a resume with my references on it and the employer, as in the top boss or whoever handles human resources, one person, has access to my personal information. Within days of applying at Kwik Star I have been getting solicitor and scammer calls and my number is new and I only gave it out looking for work. Anyone applying anywhere, ONLY one person should EVER have access to your personal information, things should NOT be done in the fashion that Kwik Star and Kwik Trip are doing them. Forced to provide one star to even be able to write a review, in truth, I give negative 5 stars. Boo!
