My brother and I were traveling from IL to Waterloo, IA to visit my sister. About 40 miles out from Waterloo we had engine trouble. The car starting making weird noises and the oil gauge was dropping quickly so I pulled off to the side of the highway. Oil was not getting to the engine so there was no driving it. My brother in law suggested we have the car towed to Jim Lind Service in Waterloo. Jim is the kindest service station owner I've ever met. He took a quick look at the car and confirmed we had antifreeze in the oil and oil in the oil in the antifreeze. He said it could need a head gasket. The radiator hose had also collapsed. This was an older car my husband and I were going to sell as we just bought a new SUV so we didn't want to put any more money in it so we decided not to repair it. This was on a Friday night and I needed to be back in IL on Sunday and I had a dead car. I was so stressed out about it. Jim told me not to worry about it. He said it was not in his way and I could park it at his station with no storage fee. He told me not to make any rash decisions. His kindness and generosity really relieved a lot of stress for me. My husband ended up driving to IA to get my brother and I and we left the car at Jim's service station. I posted it on Craig's list and thankfully someone bought it within two days. It was hard to negotiate a deal on a car sitting in Iowa when I was in IL. Jim told me he wasn't letting anyone pick up the car until he talked to me first. He helped me out with this situation without anything being in it for him. I would not hesitate to bring my car to his service station for work. Another plus is he's open 24 hours a day. I received outstanding service from Jim Lind Service in Waterloo, IA. I was about halfway to my destination on Friday, March 29 when my driver's side front wheel started to act really weird. I had to pull off the road in fear that the wheel was actually going to fall off. The exit that I was able to make it to did not have anything around, no businesses, nothing. I called AAA and they sent a tow truck out. The tow driver said we'd be heading to Waterloo, IA and that AAA wanted him to take me to "So and So Service Station" but he was going to take me to Jim Lind because they're the best. I was a little hesitant because I had no clue about the area. We pulled up to the station at about 8:30PM and Jim Lind himself met us. He knew that I was a ways from home and also from where I was heading so he offered me a free loaner car until they could fix my vehicle. The service was outstanding from the very first minute that I stepped on property. He sent me on my way with the free loaner and fixed my vehicle on Easter. 4 days later I picked up my repaired vehicle. They even washed it! A worker told me there may be a $100-150 fee just to have my issue looked at, but speaking to Jim Lind directly on the phone, he said there was no charge. Positive #1. Positive #2: A free car wash included with getting a repair done at their shop. Positive #3: They had a worker come and pick me up in order to get back to their shop & pay. Having a family with little kids in car seats (in the vehicle being worked on), that was a super helpful gesture. Positive #4: In speaking with Jim Lind on the phone, he seems like a straight shooter. Positive #5: I used to live right by their shop & I would always see them taking great care of the grounds and I noticed years ago how professional they were. I'm glad I went with them for this repair. I recently moved into Waterloo, not far from West High School. I had bought Gas at Jim Lind Service, but, with a two year old truck, hadn't needed any service. A few weeks ago, I had a tire blowout. A friend gave me a lift into Jim Lind's station at 8:15 on a very cold night. Jim sent a truck right out, towed my truck in, put on the spare, and called me at home before 10 pm to share with me the truck was ready anytime. All of the team members are very polite, courteous and appreciative of your business. Jim now has all of my maintenance business. Prices are very, very fair, I am always advised of what needs to be done and what does not. And, always met with a smile. Wow, I cannot say enough about this place! I was on a long trip and had a tire go flat from a nail (at 9:00 in the evening). A local that stopped to help me told me to contact Jim Lind Service. I explained my situation of being 6 hours from home and was in emergency need of tire repair, Jim said to bring it in! He actually met me when I pulled up and had my tire off, repaired and back on in a matter of about 15 minutes. Then to top it all off, they even vacuumed my trunk from all the dirt from the tire! I've had them do a lot of work on my car. The price is a little higher than most places but the service you get is very much worth it. Recently I called to see if I could get my oil changed. They said I could bring it and they would fit it in. 2 hours later they said it was ready! I didn't even have to make an appointment.
