I am beyond thrilled with how beautiful Providence Picture Frame framed my degree. The customer…read moreservice was outstanding. I am so proud to be able to hang this in my office.

We stoped by as part of Gallery Night Providence and I had an opportunity to talk with the owners…read moreand shared that I come from a long line of artists and art lovers, in fact, my great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents have brought many of their items here over the years to be expertly matted and framed. I learned that this business had the distinction of being the oldest framing shop in the country dating back to the early 1900's and has remained a family run local business during this time. (Wow! That's impressive!) Initially based out of the Arcade in Downcity Providence, they moved to this location in the 1970's and have continued to expand over time. What you will find today are three massive floors filled with artwork, prints, drawings, ceramics, etc from great local artists in addition to their large framing area. They can handle all types of projects small or large and provide service and support both locally and out of state. They boast quality craftsmanship, lifetime guarantees on their work, and prices that are comparable to what you'd find from the big box chains that offer framing services (no coupon needed!) The difference is the years of knowledge and experience you get when choosing Providence Picture Frame as well as the good feeling you get knowing that you are helping a long time family run store stay in business for future generations. You'll also find friendly employees who care passionately about their business, their community, and helping the customer get exactly what they are looking for. Pro tips: Consider shopping in their gallery for unique and special birthday or holiday gifts. Not sure how to display that special photo, artwork, or sentimental item? Stop by to talk to them about their custom framing ideas and to preserve your one of a kind item for a lifetime.

If I could give Tom more than 5 stars - I certainly would. Finally....finally... a home…read moreimprovement person in Massachusetts who actually shows up and does what they say they will do. I had Tom come out to give me an estimate for a number of small jobs around the house that I needed to get done before putting the house up for sale...some painting, repairing a sticking door, replacing a towel rack that I tried to do myself and royally screwed up, replacing a small deck outside the back door and some patching and painting of drywall that had cracked. First, Tom showed up exactly on time for our appointment for the estimate - first very good sign since my experience with contractors/handymen is that they work on their own time. Tom was super nice and very friendly. He looked at all the work I needed done and took notes. We had a nice conversation and I immediately felt comfortable with having him in my home to do the work without me being there. When the estimate came in it was more than fair for the work to be done. I accepted his estimate and we set for him to start on Monday. Again, based on my past experience, I really didn't expect him to show on Monday, but he did and got a lot of the work done. I was so pleased when I got home and saw how much he had done and that he worked very cleanly. Tom came back on Tuesday to finish up and everything is perfect. The work is high quality and you can't even tell any work was done in the places he fixed/repaired. I could not be more pleased with the great job that Tom did and I would recommend him to anyone and will definitely call him again should I need any work done.

If only Yelp offered a ZERO or NEGATIVE star rating, I would do it in a heartbeat. This "repair…read moreservice" was contracted by our landlord to replace some damaged doors on our property. The first day, they showed up unannounced to the wrong house despite allegedly being the same vendors that came and measured the doors in the first place a week prior. Ok, maybe they have lots of customers and are spacey, whatever. During the job, they loudly complained about the whole thing. Ok, sorry you hate the job you're being paid to do, guys, that's not my problem (they forgot I was still in the house for this part). The job took much, much longer than intended, but whatever, at least it was done. That evening I couldn't get in my driveway until I cleaned up the trash and sealant they left there. Like, actual tube of sealant that I didn't feel like running over. But it was dark and raining so I didn't get a chance to really give the place a thorough looking over. Inside, however, there was a lot of dirt and debris and pieces of door hardware and packaging all over the floor. Some of the screw covers for the window frame on the inner door were all over the floor as well. Realizing the job was a bit difficult since the house is older and the new doors were not a perfect fit, I swept it up. Lots of large pieces of plastic that would've been bad for my pets, but a quick sweep took care of it. There was damage and gouges all around our door jamb on the trim, and splintered wood on the floor on what should have been the new bottom to the door but that's all cosmetic and I can paint it over and sand it down no problem. Not that big a deal. That brings us to today, where I've found another four large screws and nails. AND, a 9"+ saw blade. A sharp, serrated saw blade. We're not the only ones that use our driveway, there are children, neighbors, and pets that go through there. Also we have cars that can be damaged by this mess. And pets that can be injured. Everything else I mostly brushed off, but a saw blade? NO. So I called. I spoke to a man (didn't get his name, but at this point don't care about his name) and about halfway in he got very defensive, he got belligerent and started screaming that they don't even use nails or screws. Then he started yelling that I shouldn't even be talking about this. Ultimately, after having a full blown tantrum he hung up on me. Professional, right? I'm so disgusted with this place, my landlord knows all about them now as well and honestly I would not use this company if my life depended upon it. Sloppy, careless, incompetent, and beyond unprofessional and inappropriate. Would never use again. Ever!
