They have pizzas, more original foods, burger, macarony with cheese, etc... I believe that this place is perfect for friendly chat with some beer or drinks. I had "Meatballs" with cheese and sauce and it was amazing! I visited many places, but this is definitely one of the best. Their food is super good! I tried their burger too (my gf had one) and it was so good! They have their own "meat" inside burger which makes burger special. I can only recommend for something to eat, or just sit down for a beer with friends.

The place was packed, so make sure you call ahead with a reservation if you're coming with a group! They offer specials daily; we visited on Thursday which included a burger, fries and a drink for £12. We had the Mexican chicken burger, and since we don't drink, the waiter kindly made us a pina colada mocktail. We also had the fish and chips, which has been the closest vegan resemblance to fish and chips I have ever seen! It even came with mayo and mushy peas. For dessert we had pineapple upside down cake, which was warm and the perfect balance of sweet and tart. A great find in Edinburgh!

We were finally taken in by the two course for 18.95 set menu as neither of us was ready for a three course ensemble and the price compared to much less renowned restaurants in sleepy Oxford. I was a little concerned about how pretentious the place would be, as this is the Scotch Malt Whisky Society after all, with a private members club upstairs. However, the interior was quite modest, with an eclectic collection of modern art work and open curtains allowing for just the right amount of natural light coming through. We went around 6:15 so it was quite quiet when we arrived. The staff was a little bit somber and standoffish but the service was reasonably quick. The food was actually quite impeccable in terms of quality with seasonal items dominating the dishes. My first course was a thick and creamy Pumpkin and Parmesan soup which was more like a smooth puree with pickled pumpkin along with bits of hazelnuts and porcini mushrooms. My lovely boyfriend went for the soused mackeral with white crab meat, carrots, and dill. He reported the mackeral as being fantastic. For the main we both had the Serrano ham with sweet potato puree and a crunchy blackened fig which complemented the crisp ham exterior perfectly. The glass of white wine we had was glorious as well with the ham. Overall a well-thought out menu and an atmosphere to which I couldn't in good conscience give 3 stars. Although everything was truly delicious, the portions were almost appalling. If we hadn't been lured out by a friend for an impromptu appetizer right beforehand, we would have been left almost completely starving. Slight less empty space on my main dish would have left everyone satisfied.

I sat at the bar area which is usually not too overcrowded. The waiters were very polite and attentive. I ordered the liver, mushroom and bacon as starter. Delicately and perfectly cooked liver. Most of livers I have tried are just overcooked. My main dish was lamb cutlet. Lamb is usually cooked medium / pink but I think this time they have overcooked it slightly. The crust was also not as flavourful as some of the lamb cutler I have tried. However, the beans and potatoes that came with it were perfectly cooked and flavourful. My dessert was the rice pudding. I think the ingredients were excellent when paired with the mandarin oranges. The way they prepare the rice pudding was like creme brûlée with melted sugar at the top of the moulded rice pudding. However, the rice was on a slightly on the dryer and harder texture. Can't really fault this place much but maybe some improvement can be done to further enhance the quality of the food. Wouldn't mind coming again to try the other food on their menu.

I don't think he was very impressed with the shrimp and scallop skewer he added on, and seemed disappointed his chips were just average (though, I don't know why he wanted chips when they had other side options). However, my roast dinner was perfection. Everything on my plate was cooked expertly and the portion size was just right. I also appreciated that they offer mocktails, as I do not drink alcohol. I had one that was a very tasty mix of perfectly ripened fruits such as strawberry and kiwi with lemonade. I definitely plan on coming back for drinks on the sidewalk seating, if not for Sunday dinner again. It was a lovely evening. The only thing that I was not 100% on was the decor. It was a little plain/random and not in a chic minimalist kind of way. Still nice in the old building, though. There were stairs/a lift down to the restrooms.
