As always this place amazes me every time. I been coming here a long time and never been…read moredisappointed with anything. The energy is always positive, runs smoothly, the food is plentiful and divine. Today I tried something new which was Pappardelle Bolognese. This thing is over the top full of blending of great flavors. Tender beef, pasta, and vegetables like a well seasoned orchestra. All the food was well cooked and lasted for a few days. They make great breads here. Sometimes I order several kinds on my orders. They also will email you special discounts on meals which encourages me jump on immediately. All I can say I do love it here!

The restaurant is decorated with all kinds of quirky Italian-inspired touches, and having Frank Sinatra playing in the background really added to the whole experience. It felt like we stepped into a little Italian dinner party. The portions are HUGE, especially when there are only two people at the table! We definitely ordered more food than we could possibly eat in one sitting, but thankfully that meant we went home with plenty of leftovers. And honestly, I'm not complaining about having tomorrow's dinner already taken care of! Our service was quick and attentive without making us feel rushed, which I really appreciated. We had a relaxed dinner, enjoyed the atmosphere, ate way too much, and left with full bellies and a bag of leftovers. Overall, it was a fun night out with good food, a unique atmosphere, and plenty of leftovers to keep the Italian dinner party going tomorrow! Sometimes it really is the simple nights out with your favorite person that make the best memories.

Buca di Beppo Buca di Beppo Buca di Beppo…read more This restaurant is, to date, a sweet little Italian restaurant that wants to cultivate a family environment. Yes, yes, that is very, very much what every restaurant says! But how many can stick the landing--or even come close? This establishment is spread across the United States, with a small amount of overseas operations at this time. Buca di Beppo was founded in 1993 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and became known for its family-style Italian-American food and large, colorful dining rooms. The colorful rooms are definitely a wonderful statement throughout the restaurants, which I do want to get into. Pity on me for showing up late due to traffic! Although this writer had a reservation for 5 PM, don't worry-I called and let them know. I did stand in their lobby upon entering for a little while. Granted, was this due to me being late, or was this a regular thing for this location? I don't include this part in my rating because that is a coin toss. I studied the rest of my visit the best that I could. This was a fresh evening for this writer. I was seated in a booth next to a couple and a friend of the partners, along with a regular middle-aged couple across the room. I was okay with the seating and had no complaints. The host/my waiter-Stacy-was brilliant,'sweet, and very helpful. Stacy herself is and was a 5/5. I am not rating a person, but I'm giving you the idea of how amazing she was. For my drink, I started off with a standard sweet tea, which came completely unsweetened. How do you mess up sweet tea? I am not sure. I knew my environment, and I understand mistakes happen. I asked my waitress, Stacy, for extra sugar packets, and she delivered. It's not the fact that she could have given me packets; it's that she understood what I was saying. May I dare say, she read between the lines-which is a skill many people lack. Stacy asked me if it was sweet at all, and 1 answered back, "No." Stacy brought me back a brand-new sweet tea. It was great. I felt heard and not like a bother. For me, that kind of set the tone for a possible five-star dinner in my books. My order was taken, all was well, and the conversation around me was quite entertaining. Although, every so often, I heard some loud noises, like bangs, which I thought was weird and concerning. It was nothing too crazy, but it does take away from the ambiance and mood of the place. They weren't the regular kitchen noises, either. But I can never be 100 percent sure. I am not the FDA--I'm a restaurant traveler, a food critic, as you take it. Taking my mind off the noise, I did notice the walls were full of photos of people, dinners, and movies. I allowed myself to really take in the pieces on the wall. It was disappointing to see the lack of POC on the walls for a place that is big on being that restaurant on the corner for your family. Is it for one type of family? It begs the question. It does. My food and alcohol choices, I must say, were excellent...excellent in both ways. I started off with an espresso martini. I was-very surprised. It was delicious. The taste was very good, smooth, and it lasted. What I liked the most about their pasta and meat sauce is their sauce! I had no complaints about their family-size portions, either. This was good for me because I didn't have to cook for a while. My experience was very delightful, but I know that if I want to be a serious and genuine writer, I can't hand out fives.

We had a 7:30 reservation. They had almost no servers or cooks. The place was nearly empty. At…read more7:50 our table was still not ready; I walked through to see what was taking so long. What perhaps looked like our table, the person working it was moving at a snail's pace. We had small children with us. We can't wait until closing time for our food. Saw lots of people sitting, waiting, waiting. If you can't staff in a huge city like this, there's something wrong. Complacency is ruining a favorite brand of ours. A reservation means there's a table ready at that time. That's the social contract.
