Long story short, I came to work one morning and just walking through the lobby was like walking through a rain forest. After shutting off the water to the line that was burst, I called the building's property manager and she called Rumsey. Josh and his team arrived within an hour. After a thorough investigation of all the spaces impacted they got to work. They got all the standing water cleaned up within minutes and started working on the mitigation process on all three floors impacted. I run a small B2C service business out of that space and every minute we were down was money out the windows. Needless to say, it was imperative to me that the mitigation be accomplished as quickly as possible. They tried several different methods to dry the floor so that we wouldn't need to go through the process of removal but ultimately they were unsuccessful due to the lack of heat in the first floor units. There must have been 75 - 100 dryers, filters and dehumidifier units in the building so they brought a massive diesel generator to power the operation without running up our power bill. Josh was in regular communication with me throughout the whole process and his teammates, Lee and Zac filled in seamlessly when needed. I have dealt with water damage to my property before and it's always a nightmare. I have had mitigation companies come in and tear apart my space, leave one or two driers , and then disappear for weeks on end leaving me to work around their mess with no clear scope or timeline. Rumsey has had people on site every day checking moisture levels and making sure their impact on my business and footprint was as minimal as possible. They worked directly with the insurance company to get the best possible payout and the reconstruction was perfect. It honestly looks better than it did pre-disaster. I can't overstate their professionalism and communication. I hope I never need mitigation services again, but if I do, Rumsey will be my first and only call.

The mitigation/remediation process was a struggle. Some of the issues were due to insurance, but this part of the process was also plagued with communication issues with Rumsey. Oftentimes, our calls/emails to them were never returned, and we had to continue pushing Rumsey for a response or to get them to follow-up with insurance (as they had promised but didn't always do). We would ask them to keep us in the communication loop with the insurance company, often to no avail. Overall, a pretty frustrating experience. Thankfully the reconstruction end of things was a breath of fresh air. The all-star of this entire process was Mike Fulbright. Mike entered the picture and got things moving. He is a great (and very prompt) communicator and really listened to our questions and concerns throughout the reconstruction process. Ismael (the lead contractor) was also very responsive to any questions or concerns we had. His cabinet guy, Dionne (pronounced Johnny, I think I'm spelling that right) was also fantastic and very detail-oriented. Overall, we are really pleased with the end result of the kitchen rebuild. If the mitigation side had been nearly as responsive and communicative as Mike and Ismael, we'd give a higher rating.

Lesson learned get a itemized list of the material they are suppling. Gutters were not installed correctly first rain and water was pouring down on the porch had to send someone else to fix the issue. UPDATE: Owner called me and after discussing my experience with the gutters sent a manger out to fix the issues and has revised my bill, they have resolved my issue. They stand behind the work they do.

TL/DR: Merritt Roofing has completely eroded my trust in their products and service. I do NOT…read morerecommend. 8-months after installation, we still don't have a roof we can trust, and they seem to be done supporting me. We did our due diligence and spoke to several roofing companies before committing to Merritt to fully replace our roof. We liked the salesperson/Project Manager, Jason (who was fairly new to the company, but being mentored by another, Bryan), and the price was in the middle of the pack (just over $10K). We even went ahead and paid extra for the "Platinum Coverage" for added piece of mind. We did everything we could think of to receive a good quality service/product. August 2025 - The installation crew did such a bad job on our roof that Merritt have since told me (as if it would put my mind at ease) that they will no longer work with that crew. That's fine for the next folks, I guess, but doesn't help us at all. I understand that they do still work with the contractors of the crew, just not those exact installers, so no guarantee that the way their other crews behave will be any better. We were also surprised to find out that Merritt contracts in installation crews, as part of what we were hoping we were paying for by going with a large, named company was a dedicated installation team. We could have hired random contractors ourselves. The edges of all of the shingles at the ends of the roofs were cut so badly that they were crescent-shaped, and the shingles underneath were exposed. There were a number of chunks taken out of the shingles by carless ladder placement. One of the crew had decided to fix part of a gutter that he had dislodged by shooting a bunch of nails into it, shooting a nail through the bottom of my gutter in the process, and causing a leaking gutter. They had also cracked the soffits (The vent underneath the edge of the roof), and it was just hanging out. They hadn't even tried to repair it. Although this has now been put back in place, it is still cracked. There were numerous other issues with the installation, but the team packed up and left without saying anything to me, and the Salesperson/PM wasn't around either. I called the Salesperson/PM when I went outside to look at the roof, and let him know that I saw some issues with the roof. He came over and agreed that it wasn't acceptable. The team was called back to address, and one of them showed up. He replaced a couple of shingles, and then tried to leave again. He made it clear we weren't happy with the edges of all of the roofs, and that they needed to address. It was scheduled that they would come out a few days later and replace all of those shingles. So immediately we went from having a new roof to a repaired roof. When the team did come to repair the roof, they were supposed to start at 8:30 am. The first person finally arrived at 10:20 am. and they starting working at around 10:40 am. Once the repairs were completed I pointed out some areas I wasn't happy with, and was put in touch with Garrett Zarecky, the Merritt "Production Manager" and was told that they would settle in the next couple of months. Garrett scheduled a date with me at the end of September to come and inspect the roof. He also made a number of comments along the lines of "If we need to replace the whole roof, we will" and that he would check inside our attic space, if he felt it necessary. September 29th 2025 - Garret game to inspect the roof, did not go inside the attic, despite saying he would. He told me something along the lines of "I wouldn't be able to see any issues from in there anyway". He also noted a lot of my concerns, but told me he was happy with how the roof looked and how it was performing. He assured me that this roof was as good as new, despite admitting that they no longer worked with the crew that installed it. Nov/December 2025 - I was cleaning the gutters, preparing for winter, and noticed that there were still a number of shingles that had scuffs and even gouges out of them. There was also the head of a nail pushing through one of the shingles at the back of the house, close to the edge. There were a numbers of other issues with the way the shingles lay and looked cosmetically. I reached out to Jason, Bryan and Garrett, the Production Manager. Jason had left the company, which seemed odd for a person who had only started there a few months before, so Bryan came out to inspect the roof. He agreed that it looked like the shingles had been damaged in some way, possibly as a defect in the shingles, and asked Garrett to inspect the roof. Garrett told me that the damage wasn't caused by a defect, but by foot traffic. The fact that there had been enough foot traffic on my roof in the days after it was installed to cause damage, seems to be another indication of how poorly it was installed. Merritt's "Repair Guy" (Garrett's words), Alonzo, came out in December and removed large areas of shingles, replacing them

When the plumber arrived at my home, his very first comment was that he doesn't like working on toilets and doesn't understand why your company keeps assigning him those types of jobs. This was unprofessional and immediately made me uncomfortable. He then informed me that in order to provide an estimate, he would need to open the top of the toilet, and that doing so would cost $140. I explained that when I scheduled the appointment, I was clearly told the estimate would be free of charge. His response was that it was only free for him to show up--not to do anything beyond that. Frankly, this explanation was both unreasonable and misleading. This experience was a complete waste of my time and left me extremely dissatisfied with your service. I expect better communication, transparency, and professionalism from a company that offers home repair services. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address it with the technician involved, as well as review the clarity of the information provided to customers during appointment scheduling.
