Cody bought a house in Lynnwood in January, but before he bought the house we agreed that the master bathroom needed to be renovated as soon as possible (the shower floor was disgusting). So I shopped around for contractors shortly after he bought the house. We met with 3 contractors and eventually chose Andrey to do the job. He fell in the middle, price wise, amongst the 3 quotes we got. Andrey was very professional from start to finish. Before we hired him, he came over to look at the bathroom, was on time for our meeting, and gave us a detailed breakdown of how much things would cost. Once we agreed to go with him, he said he couldn't start our reno until beginning of May, but if he had some time before then, he would come over and demo the bathroom. Which he showed up on a Saturday and did just that. The renovation took around 5 weeks, which I think could've been done sooner if we didn't have a delay in the materials we ordered (some tile, shower door, bathroom counter and cabinets were all delayed). We thought Andrey was very efficient and timely with the work he did. We picked out all the tiles ourselves, but Andrey was there to help when we needed it, he referred us to a great tile shop, and gave us a suggestion to a countertop store as well. Andrey's quote was the most straightforward and reasonable. I supplied all the "design" materials such as tile, fixtures, etc. and Andrey included the basic stuff like backerboard, caulk, etc. in the materials quote. Communication - Excellent. Andrey kept me informed throughout the entire process, asking questions when needed or when he had suggestions. He answered texts/emails promptly. Selecting AG Design and Build was the best decision we made on our condominium bathroom remodel project. We got a few quotes before ultimately selecting AG Design and Build to remodel two bathrooms in our condo (while we were living in it) - and to phase the work so it would be done one bathroom at a time. What made us select Andrey was simple - he was a good communicator with a fair bid who we felt we could trust. Trust was key for us because Andrey would need to work within tight condominium rules and regulations for construction, and have a key to our home while we were at work. Andrey and his employee exceeded our high expectations. Our project was a gut and remodel of two bathrooms. The way we managed our project was to provide the more "superficial" materials (tile, shower door, cabinets, faucets, etc...) and Andrey provided the tools, labor, and foundational materials (hardie board, caulk, piping, drains, mortar, trim pieces, etc). Andrey showed up consistently, provided expert recommendations throughout the process, and was prompt with replies to all of my texts, calls, and e-mails. When we encountered a delay with our cabinets (Home depot delivered the wrong cabinets - don't buy cabinets from them), Andrey was able to re-sequence his work to reduce any delays we would see on our end. His ability to remain flexible was invaluable for us through this project. The manager in our building was pleased and impressed with his cleanliness (without me asking, he vacuumed the common area stairs every day to ensure no trace was left behind). With all construction projects there is dust, but Andrey did his best to control it; he always covered our bed, laid down drop cloths, and would thoroughly vacuum every day which was a huge help. We plan on using Andrey for other projects around our place and have recommended him to multiple friends and family members (we RAVE about him!). One friend already hired him and was thrilled with his work. I cannot recommend him enough. I had Andrey renovate my guest bath - tile surround, vanity, flooring, paint, etc. I had a separate plumber come in to do the plumbing work (though Andrey said he could have found a plumber if necessary). I tend to shop around and buy all the materials myself, flooring, tile, etc. so Andrey worked with everything I threw at him. He was able to answer my technical questions on various issues (why use this grout instead of that grout, etc.) In shopping for a contractor, Andrey always answered my emails by the end of the day (some renovators seem to struggle with this concept) and once we started the job he was working every day (again, some contractors disappear for a day or two as they're juggling multiple jobs). Andrey queued things up so that he was with me straight through. After every day's work the staging areas were clean enough that I could let my cat wander. Andrey did a full renovation of my downstairs den and bathroom. It hadn't been touched since the 70's and he was able to make everything modern and livable. The plumbers and electricians he brought in were first rate, and his personal craftsmanship and attention to detail really make the room stand out. He worked without supervision, including a week where I left town and gave him a key to continue the project. On three occasions in the job, I expanded his scope for additional work. In all three cases, I was at a disadvantage in negotiating position. While another contractor might have soaked me with change order prices, Andrey priced everything fairly, and adapted his project planning to accomodate the change. He has exceptional attention to detail - and is as careful with the work you dont see as with the finished surfaces.
