Positive experience. Will recommend. The start the clock when they get to your home which is a plus compared to others. They charge a 2 hr minimum, but they worked REALLY hard and quick and got our move from 1 bed apt to a house done in 2hrs 10min. After 2hrs they charge in 15min increments which is good. The guys were courteous, hardworking, professional, very careful in handling of materials and strived to make sure everything was done according to our plans and desires. We had a fantastic experience with this company. I would recommend them. The workers were extremely fast and polite. I found the price to be fair, especially at the rate that work was completed. I went back and forth between four and five stars. The was because when the crew showed up they informed us that the third person would be late. Honestly, the two person crew work more efficiently than I could or would have hoped for; the two person crew saved us money without the third person there. Not sure what happened with this highly rated company, but I had one of the worst moving experiences with 3 Star. They set a date and took all of my info, made me a great quote, then proceeded to lose my information, etc. It's a good thing I called them two days ahead of time or we would have had no one to move us! When our movers showed up, it was 2 hours later than our original set time. They had a smallish sized truck, smaller than other movers we have used. There were only two guys, who were, thankfully fast, strong, hard working guys, but not the norm as I see everyone here has usually 3 men. The truck was incapable of moving our three bedroom house in total, so we had to rent a separate truck to move the rest ourselves. They also refused to move our plants, which I've never had movers refuse in 20 years and multiple moves. The movers also had to ask us what every box said and where to put it, even though they were marked. It was exhausting to micro manage the entire move for people being paid to do a job. They worked into the night, as it was past dark before they were done. Instead of closing out our bill, they sat in their truck, letting it run, for over an hour. It was past 10pm before they came in to settle the bill. And guess what? The bill was $700 OVER the original quote! Their reasoning was it was a big house with a basement, even though I had already discussed with the scheduler that house was a single story with a basement. I honestly feel ripped off and very frustrated with the situation. I should have known when they lost my original appointment that it was a sign of what was to come. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is the workers did a decent job overall. Still, I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I had originally hired Rapid Moving and they stood me up: did not respond to several calls/voicemails, text messages, emails, or Yelp messages (I believe this company is a scam). I needed to move that same day, and Three Star Moving saved me from the Rapid Moving scam company. I'd lost my freight access in the time that I was waiting for Rapid Moving...so Jahir and Eladid had a difficult task, but they completed the job with a smile and care for my belongings. The first time I used three star, I had a great experience, so when I had to move 2 yrs later I hired them even though they were much more expensive than other moving companies. This was a mistake. My second move turned out to be a nightmare. While dialing my number to confirm the booking, their dialed the wrong number and thus weren't able to reach me. Not knowing this, I was at home waiting for the movers to come. When they didn't show up at the appropriate time I called them, and the lady I spoke to admitted to having the right number in their record and dialing in the wrong number. She very nonchalantly informed me that they had cancelled the move because they couldn't get in touch with me and there was nothing she can do. She'll try to find someone else but she wasn't sure if she could. Then she became unreachable. I was rather desperate to move that day because I had taken a day off from work and couldn't afford to take another day off. After repeated unanswered phone-calls and leaving voicemails, she finally picked up the phone when I called from a different number. She said she was "working on it" and will confirm in an hour, but would not call me back. After endless unanswered phone calls to her, she picked up the phone at 6PM and informed me someone will come to move at 7PM (7 hours after they were supposed to!). She also informed me that 3 people will be moving and that I had to pay for the third person. I repeatedly told her in no uncertain terms that I will NOT be paying for a third person since I had requested a 2-person crew. They still ended up charging me for a third person. After paying A LOT more than I was willing, wasting a whole afternoon, I had my move finish 7 hours later than it was supposed to. And I did not even receive a real apology for it. The only thing that remained true from my previous experience was that the movers themselves remained polite and as capable as I remembered them to be. However, their politeness doesn't make up for the rudeness of the admin staff or the hassle they put you through. Will definitely not be using them again. read more

I recently moved and called a few different company's for some quotes - unlike all the other company's, Three Star Moving quoted us for the job instead of by the hour which we LOVED! Living in an apartment complex, I've seen other companies and how slow they move... I was not ready to pay out of pocket for their pace. They were the best moving company I have had in a while - they RAN every time they went into the house to get the next load- that's how fast they worked! Everything was properly wrapped, cared for and delivered successfully. At the end of the move, we went room by room to see if I needed any furniture moved/boxes moved to other rooms. They were able to complete the job within 3 hours (including driving, walk through, etc.) Overall, they were quick, friendly, and trustworthy. I will FOR SURE go with Three Star Moving again - and would recommend it to ANY of my friends. They do only take cash or check, but I was ok with that. read more

I have recently moved from my apartment to a house. I have subscribed to this moving company's service and I was very happy. I contacted online and they had called me back and penciled me for the day. I took some time to confirm as I was not sure about the moving date. The guys (Edgar and David) were on time on the day of the move. They gave me 30 mins heads up. They came with a large truck. Within first 2/3 minutes the evaluation and the contract were done. They were extremely fast and efficient. They had enough blanket to cover all furniture. I found them extremely careful with wall, door and furniture not to scratch them. They dismantled and setup the furniture pretty fast. I picked up some other item on our way to the new house. Once the job is done, the manager called me in to find out if everything is ok and if there is any damage or anything. I appreciated the gesture. There was no damage at all. I was worried about my TV as I did not have the original box, but it was handled with extreme care. Given the efficiently, and the associated moving accessories., I found the total cost to me was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this companies service. read more

I called Three Star Moving to purchase unloading services at my new apartment. When I called to schedule they did not initially offer a time that worked for me. However, the man on the phone inquired about what time window I needed & made arrangements to fit me in on the day that I needed services. The movers were fantastic! They called to let me know they were on the way & to confirm the address, I was asleep & missed the call but all was good when I called 5 minutes later. The movers were fast, friendly and took direction very well. At the end they were even kind enough to even help us arrange some the furniture & boxes so that we could enjoy the living room. I found out about them through a flier in my apartment complex. I called them, described the contents of my household belongings and settled on the price. Unlike other movers in the area (Hillsboro/Beaverton), they charged for the job and not by the hour. And boy are they FAST. I packed the smaller items in boxes and labelled them. They came in, wrapped all the furniture in blankets and in less than 2.5 hours (2 BDRM apartment). I was in my new place with everything in place. They have their own truck so you don't have to rent/drive one. In short, very efficient, thorough, hassle-free. Nearly perfect experience. We requested two movers and at the last minute we received a call that their next stop required three people so they were sending three guys. I was not expecting to pay the three person rate. Once everything was squared away the guys were fantastic. They were careful with all my belongings, and wrapped everything. No wall dings or scrapes. My pregnant wife called in and was given an approximate estimate over the phone several weeks before our move. We were expecting somewhere in the ballpark of 3 to 4 hours total time for a 3 BR town home, according to the representative. The day of the move, the workers called ahead and asked if they could show up early, and then showed up early, which was nice. They asked what all was being moved and we went room to room. When they finished, they said it would take 7 to 8 hours total time to move because they would have to take two trips because the truck they brought was too small. This was extremely unexpected and beyond what we had accounted for. I called in to the main office and spoke with Susan who told me she would check to see if they could get a second truck and extra workers to make up the time difference, but the rate would increase by an additional 75% of the original hourly rate. I asked if we could get a discount since we were expecting half the time and because no representative offered to even give an on-site estimate before the day of the move. Susan called back and apologized and said that there was nothing she could do about everything other than the offer of a second truck and an increase in the hourly rate. I told her that we did not appreciate the way they handled their business and that someone should have at least offered an in-person estimate instead of surprising someone with such a hefty increase in time and rate the scheduled day of move. These are strong arm tactics. We ended up capitulating and moving forward with the increase in rate and bringing in a second crew to assist with the move as I was in no position to be able to find a moving truck or moving company on such short notice and move everything by myself. I would not have my pregnant wife lift anything and she would also be busy watching our toddler. Our move in date had already been set and since my wife works from home, we had all services transferred on the day of the move. If it were not for those facts, we would have made sure that we would have found someone else even if we had to live in a home full of boxes. The movers had us go through all of the rooms to verify that all the boxes were in place in the correct rooms, but they stacked them to the point where the labels on the top of the boxes were unreadable. After they left, we found boxes for rooms in the incorrect rooms all over the house. Their business practice of quoting and then changing the price on the move day is absolutely despicable and completely deplorable. I do not appreciate being strong armed into paying for services in this manner. If you happen to use them because of the excellent service that the workers provide, please ensure that they perform an on-site estimate BEFORE your move date and DO NOT trust them for an over-the-phone quote. read more

My movers were Spencer (the lead), Jaime and Jack. I have used Three Star Moving before and had the same great experience. My team literally ran around dripping sweat to get me moved as quickly and efficiently as possible. It took a little over four hours to load my room in NW Portland, go to Pearl and load another apartment and then go to Milwaukie and drop it all in the garage. They did take apart my bed and wrap all furniture in blankets and tape it. These guys should be making $30 an hour! Give them a raise and a big bonus :-)) thanks guys. read more

Great to have a deal with this movers. Arrived on time and they had managed the way what I expected. I had booked couple of U-Pack Relocube for 1 BHK apartment and called these guys. I planned to move all the items in One Relocube, So that I don't want to pay for the additional one. Still I had a doubt that can't be possible because I had a King Size mattress and 4 large furnitures. But this guys executed the plan well with neat and polite and done the job very nicely. We recently moved using this moving company's service and we were very pleased. I contacted them online and they called me right within an hour or so and we scheduled the move for a day that was less then a week away. They confirmed everything the day before and they even brought a bigger truck based only on my recommendation. All in all the communication was great. My only complaint would be that they should email the moving guidelines. They read them to me on the phone but I was unable to take good notes. This cost them a star, I guess. The guys (Mychal and Yesser) were on time on the day of the move. They gave us a 30 minutes heads up. After confirming the cost they went to work and were extremely fast and efficient. They brought more than enough blankets to cover all the furniture. They were careful with the walls, they covered the front door and the entry way flooring. They are two very hard working guys. We found the total cost to be very reasonable. And it was all confirmed by the office manager by phone at the end of the job which seemed very professional. Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT use this company!!! They showed up an hour late, no one spoke English and couldn't read fragile/breakable on any of my stuff. Every dish, glass, mirror and TV was broken. My bedroom set is completely ruined. There are now corners missing on my nightstand and deep scratches and gouges. They were throwing my boxes like footballs across the truck. I am SO upset. Please do NOT hire them. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. read more
