And if you're interested in the history of the area, Monica (a fourth generation resident), is a fountain of knowledge... and one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. My wife and I were looking for a unique, relaxing get away, and Wicky-Up delivered just that... it was perfect: charming decor, delightful conversations with Monica and Jack, delicious fruit fresh from their farm... and Sweet Pea- an incredibly friendly pup who will literally lead you on a beautiful, relaxing walk through the almost endless rows of orange trees. We will never forget our stay at Wicky-Up, and I can't help but smile while writing this because Monica, Jack and Sweet Pea gave us such a wonderful weekend.

The rooms are redecorated, the food Jackie serves is AMAZING and they are both so extremely hospitable! The location is really great because it is easy to get to the local shops and the park entrance. I stayed two nights, first breakfast was french toast and WOW.(best in my life no joke), second breakfast was a spinach frittata also Very good (I am going to try making it!). Most of the breakfasts come with a special jam or sirup that is home made. The home has a very hommy feel to it. The rooms are very nice and feel like a nice hotel room, but no TV (not that you need) Fresh baked brownies sat in the kitchen! Don't bring pets if going to the national parks they cant really do much! Hairdryer in the hall to share if you need! They have a deck on the second floor with a fridge and table/chairs for sharing with other guest (note a room does sit behind with a window) Did I mention FRESH baked brownies sat in the kitchen?

The kitchen is so well stocked, it made cooking such a breeze. I was able to make chocolate soufflés in the kitchen (I just had to bring my own hand mixer and chocolate). Their kitchen appliances, pots, and pans were better than the ones I had at home! Even their gas grill outside looked like it wasn't even touched. The even got wifi, directv, and Netflix hooked up. It was nice having these options even though we didn't spend a lot of time using it. It even had ac in there! After you spend your afternoon walking up and down the river, it's nice to come inside in a well conditioned cabin. The cabin is off the main road but you don't hear too many cars. Especially if your hanging out in the back by the river. All you hear is the river. And plus it was very convenient to have the gas station, convenient stores, souvenir shops etc. just down the road. My friends and I had such a terrific weekend that we were so sad to leave back to the OC. We will definitely be back and recommend this quaint cabin to anyone. FYI: they told us that if your cell phone provider is AT&T you will have better service up there than any other provider. They still have a landline for you to use, which was nice. And don't forget to check out The Doll Nest in the area. It's a shop full of Russian Nesting Dolls and toys! How cute is that!

Wonderful campsite! Stayed at group site G. The site is…read moresloped (but not too bad.) Read a review before going up so I brought a flat shovel and leveled out some spots for some of our stuff. Worked out just fine. No showers. Plenty of outhouses. Wood fire pit and small grill are on site along with a couple of benches. Fresh water is close by the campsite. We had a party of ten and no one had any complaints (aside from the first night figuring out the tents on a slope.) Bring a flat shovel - lifesaver. A few things to note if you are going for the first time... * Fuel up your vehicle in Springville (if traveling from the Bakersfield direction or Kernville traveling the other way.) There is a small store about 3 minutes from the campsite with basic stuff but no gas. * No cell reception at all. * Trail of 100 Giants is only 10 minutes up the road. * Hiking trails galore. * Fishing - nothing close by. Rivers haven't been stocked in over a year. * Campsites G and F are next to the road (wasn't an issue with noise or safety unless you have pets that tend to wander.)
