3 Sisters lured me in with their amazing ice cream - mint, chocolate, coconut and all the toppings you could want. They make them in-house and they're super fresh. You've got to try it on a hot summer night. Or even a cold winter's evening. They also have an impressive food menu as well. My normal sweet-tooth rating system would rank this place at a 3.5 overall, but it gets a little bump for having lots of sampling opportunities when I'm feeling indecisive and piggy. I went back yesterday to have ice-cream with a friend from FL visiting RI to show off the place that offers good ice-cream, to my disappointment, the staff's vibes was not inviting, I yet ordered a banana split. When we went to sit, all chairs were already put up on the tables so we thought they were closing in 15 mn or so. I asked and they said oh no we're not closing till 8pm. The tables were dirty and sticky. The place was filthy. What a bummer. And to top it off my banana split had only one half of a banana cut lengthwise . Wow did that pack a wallop of mint flavor to the point of getting a little bit of mint stuck in my teeth. I have been to Three Sisters about 20 times since coming to Providence and they never fail to disappoint. 1) Friendliest staff ever! (and I'm not just saying that because my roommate works there). Lines are frequently out the door, but service is fast and fun! 2) Unbelievably unique and delicious ice cream flavors. 3) Get anything potato! French fries, sweet potato fries, home fries. They're all delicious (and great to pair with a milkshake) 4) Decor includes indoor and outdoor seating and a friendly "local vibe" such as local art, flyers for events in town, and hand-crafted tables. The staff are always helpful, we asked for burgers which they normally do for dinner after 3pm, but they went ahead and made them for us anyways even though they were busy. The burgers are good I've tried the Gringo and the fauxpress. I prefer the Gringo which has thick slices of avacado on it. The fries were/are my favorite part. Perfect crispy and thickness ratios in my opinion. Plus it was all made fast, less than 5 mins from the time we ordered to the time they set it in front of me. Of course no review of three sisters is complete without talking about their specialty (ice cream) which is fantastic! They have all the standard flavors that I love like cookie dough plus they have tons of interesting flavors for ppl like my gf who want something different everytime like Aztec chocolate. I've normally come here for ice cream but this time I tried a breakfast burrito. Now this is a major factor of why I only provided a two star rating. The breakfast burrito was an all time failure. The black beans where steamed or boiled and nothing Mexican like. I recommend to the owner to remove the black beans, add more cilantro to your pico de gallo, use muenster cheese. I may not be Mexican or Latin, but I know the culture and how to cook the food. Otherwise to everyone else out there! I only recommend their ice cream menu. read more

I'm not sure who "they" are, but sometimes you can only describe a plate of food as fucking delicious. Like many people I prefer my lunch to be cheap and instantly available. So often times I pay $5 for a footlong of crap to be prepared by a 17 year old high school dropout who makes it clear that she wishes that I'd rather drop dead than bother her. But when I want a friendly bunch to lovingly craft a meal with quality ingredients then I'll go to Three Sisters. Yeah, it's closer to $9 than $5 and it takes a little bit longer, but it's worth it. The food, as I mentioned, is fucking delicious. Lunch isn't all they do, but I still haven't tried their ice cream or their breakfast options. Three Sisters is by far the best ice cream in Providence (and maybe even Rhode Island!) The selection of flavors is fantastic and the ice cream is just so rich and tastes homemade. I took my sister here her first night visiting from California, and we got to the store just after closing. The owner was so gracious and let us stay inside outside of the rain as we waited for a ride home, and even offered us a small scoop each. This kind gesture and hospitality truly turned around a really difficult day. Please consider visiting this store over a chain ice cream brand for a personal and cozy experience and 10x better ice cream (P.S. they also serve amazing drinks, pastries, and breakfast/brunch!) Three Sisters is Russian Roulette for me. I leave feeling happy some times. I leave feeling boo hoo others. Although it's kind of been on a downslide the last few times I've been. The ice cream here really impressed me at first, it still is the best ice cream place in Providence. (That's not saying too much, which I find surprising. College town, town with people who like to eat, town near beaches and fun in the summer, why is there not better ice cream? Three Sisters was the savior in the homemade ice cream market. Although interestingly Providence won best ice cream in some magazine recently, probably Travel and Leisure where providence has cornered all the categories for the last few years) However the last few times I've been the ice cream has been really weird, mainly a little freezery and has had little chunks of ice in it, which is bringing down into "meh" category. I still want to like the ice cream, but these days I deep down just would rather go to Dairy Queen for a blizzard if I had my pick in providence haha. Not good - I ordered a breakfast sandwich, fries and iced matcha. The fries were stuck to the top of the melted styrofoam container (paper liner?) and the matcha was grey - not green; usually that means it's stored incorrectly (light/air) or old. I'm guessing this has to do with rising costs on all fronts, but it seems that Three Sisters has opted to reduce portion sizes instead of raising prices. While I understand that businesses opt to do things like this to reduce the chance of customer complaints, it has happened so many times that their portions are now laughable. I generally stay off the East Side, but Three Sisters is so good that on a nice warm leisurely Saturday I often find myself there. Three Sisters essentially has two separate businesses in one. They have an ice cream stand, and an independent coffee shop. The coffee shop has some good baked goods but it's not like a Seven Stars style bakery. That's fine with me, as I prefer the home style quirkiness of Three Sisters to the upscale vibe at Seven Stars. The place has an old-style indie coffee shop feel to it, like White Electric or Coffee Exchange. You know, when coffee shops were this unique and bohemian thing before Starbucks became omnipresent and Dunkin started serving espresso drinks. The ice cream is rock solid, up there with Ice Cream Machine and Dear Hearts. I've never seen it packed in Three Sisters, and don't recall ever having a hard time getting a table. The service has always been friendly, and there's usually parking in the area. All in all if you like the whole "killing time hanging out in a coffee shop like your life is an episode of Friends" thing, Three Sisters is a great and I'd say fairly underrated place to do just that. read more

A solid 4.5 stars for me. Although there is no option for a 1/2 star, I'm gonna go ahead and give them the 5 stars. Cause...hey, they totally deserve it. The atmosphere is laid-back and fun: colorful murals, chalkboard signs, wooden benches and board games for patrons to use. Raisa and I love good food, good vibes, and good conversation. And sweets. Lots of them. I forgot about all that Hope St has to offer and was so excited when I thought of 3 sisters. When ordering, the waitress definitely had some tude, which I'm not sure if it is just the atmosphere of the restaurant, or she just had a bad day. She was not too helpful or suggestive, and seemed annoyed in general. I ordered the grilled cheese (which the menu stated comes with chips) yet she said they didn't, and a soda (they didn't have lemonade). Raisa got a panini of some sort. Both were very good , but the grilled cheese does not fall into my top rankings. It satisfied my needs but did not excite me. They also mixed yellow/white cheese which I find it a little perplexing. We loved sitting outside, even though it is on a busy street, but there is a park across the street for a good view. We were able to sit outside for over an hour and chitchat, and finished our experience with some homemade icecream and coffee/espresso. The icecream was amazing. Creamy, rich, and had the homemade element. All of the flavors were fun, unique and exciting. I Wanted to try them all. However, Rai said the coffee was lacking. I am so glad we tried Three Sisters tonight! Best soup I have ever had in my life: toasted cumin vegetable. Perfectly blended spices and heat to warm you on a cold night. The homemade ice cream was very delicious and the assortment of flavors was great! We had a peanut butter one and a blueberry buckle. Definitely makes top three list of best homemade ice creams we have ever had. I foresee this being a regular stop for us - especially with the awesome Lippitt Park right across the street. You can nestle into a little bench or check out the cool playground while enjoying your treats. The gluten free biscotti was calling my name and I couldn't resist trying this delicacy! The right amount of crunch mixed with the perfect blend of nutty chocolate flavors made this treat extra nice. The tea selection is amazing - two words: chocolate tea. I have made 40 minute drives from Southeastern Mass to go to Three Sisters. This place is such a hidden gem. I religiously get the green tea ice cream in a sugar cone. It has such a smooth, creamy matcha taste that hits the spot! And a small is only $3.50. Their kulfi is my boyfriends favorite. It has a sweet mix of caramel and caradamom. For a small cafe it's pretty basic in terms of the decor and seating but it's very friendly service and the food is excellent. My wife and I both had sandwiches and the portions were huge. I have heard so many people rave about Three Sisters that I've returned to give it try and try again... I have now visited 5 times and I keep leaving disappointed. Now, the ice cream is good. But that's all. Good. No better than I've had elsewhere quite honestly. And I've tried a few of the other treats - like The Blondie - and I wasn't impressed. Baked goods isn't their forte, leave that to Seven Stars. Staff is hit or miss. I've had really friendly, helpful and patient people and I've had cold, somber people wait on me. Never know what you'll get! Seating is limited and tight...I've met there with other moms and our little ones and it's quite the adventure. No room for strollers, that much is certain. I haven't tried their "food food" or alcoholic drinks so maybe that's the route I need to take...all I know is my motivation to return a 6th time is lacking. read more

I am a huge fan of Three Sisters. I've been there countless times in the two years since I moved to this area of Providence. I typically get breakfast after my running club meets. My go-to is the Breakfast Burrito which is pretty cheap and filling. I've also gotten the Rise & Shine meal more times than I can count (I preferred it when it was slightly more expensive and came with a cup of coffee). The omelets are delicious. My favorite is the Mitch Dubert which has cream cheese and hot peppers among other ingredients, add hot peppers to eggs and i'm a happy person. The paninis are very good for lunch also. I love the ice cream at any time of day or year. The khulfi flavor is my favorite and this is the only place I've found such a tasty combination of flavors. I also love the dirty garden mint and will usually get a cone with two flavors so I can have a standby favorite and something new. The curried apple they had one season was amazing and I hope it comes back. I liked the service better before the renovation. I feel like everything takes a little longer now and it's weird, but I'd prefer to bus my own table in a place like this. read more

Three Sisters is hands down the best place to spend a morning or afternoon after a long night out. This place can be crazy busy on weekends, but it's definitely worth the little bit of wait. Everyone who works here is amazingly friendly and treats everyone like family. My go to is definitely the breakfast burrito, with bacon of course, and a side of delicious homefries. The smoothies are also great, and you can make your own smoothie for the same price as one that is listed. I briefly worked here over the summer, and I'm really excited that I can now write a review as a customer. They serve breakfast until 2 pm, which is amazing for us late sleepers who don't like to leave the house before noon. They also have lunch and dinner, as well as beer and wine after 3 pm I believe. Come for breakfast, stay for an ice cream, then grab a beer. Can't think of a better way to spend the afternoon. I can't believe I used to go to dunkin for coffee and a quick take out breakfast sandwich when this place was next door the whole time. They have REAL coffee and awesome food! Very casual place~ the icecreams were amazing!!!!!! I tried a few flavors (some were my friend's order): Max's Mudpie, Cake Batter, Coffee Crunch, Cookie and Cream, and Fair Trade Coffee, all were really good. The highlights were Max's Mudpie and Coffee Crunch!!! Fairtrade coffee also have very strong aromatic coffee taste, and wasnt too sweet, another really unique flavor I ended up ordering Max's Mudpie on Waffle Cone. it was very VERY satisfying. Heavy with chocolate, oreo, and wallnut fillings. The icecream itself was mocha based. The server was very kind, apart from letting me try multiple flavors of icecream, he also filled up my waffle cone all the way to the cone tip! (The cone was also delicious ) The shop ambient was average, not too fancy, and not too pleasant to sit for a long time. But the icecream flavor makes up for it all hehe read more
