I'm a bit torn. I've definitely loved supporting a local business but I didn't find this to be all that great. Honestly it could do just as well by going to the shaw supermarkets that's just a few minutes away and getting some cartons of ice cream from Häagen-Dazs. The line here is a bit daunting. I think I waited at least a half an hour to get ice cream. If you ask me that's just nuts. The other thing that's a little bit bizarre about this place is the service. You go to a counter and it's all windows like going to a bookie to bet on a race. They open the window only to talk to you and then close it again. They also don't seem to be very customer service oriented and answer questions or even give samples. This place is cash only which I also don't care for. Came here for the first time, to use my RI Food Fight best scoop shop coupon. It's a bit off our usual path, but easy enough to get to with a location on a corner with access to the private parking lot from two sides. A few picnic tables under an awning for seating & no indoor space that I could see from the back of the building. There were about 20 flavors of hard cream, about the same for soft serve, and 3 sherbets. The sundae combinations and options looked fantastic - but the coupon was for a small scoop, so that's what we got. I picked my go to coconut chocolate almond; my partner chose the coffee Oreo. Mine had whole almonds and a great creamy texture. Very good, but a bit light on coconut flavor tbh. His ice cream was extraordinary: super coffee flavor, loaded with cookie crumbs. Definitely getting that next time when we visit - which we certainly will be doing, but probably not this month since we're cashing in coupons for other places haha. We visited the shop early September as part of the RI Food Fights ice cream passport. The shop is in a weird location at the corner of an intersection. The parking lot is small, and the spot lines were faded. U Scream hosts home made ice cream by Ice Cream Machine from Cumberland. I love their ice cream so I was excited to learn it's close by. All the flavors are listed clearly, along with sundaes and a lot of topping options. We were the only patrons there around 4pm on a Friday. There was one scooper and she was very patient with us trying samples and thinking a little too long about what flavor to get. I ended up choosing my favorite flavor by Ice Cream Machine Birthday Cake ice cream and the boyfriend chose Chocolate PB Chip (yogurt). We sat at one of the few picnic tables available. For some reason, the flavor appeared slightly off to me. I'm not sure if it's because I wasn't eating it at Ice Cream Machine or possibly melting in transit. Pregnant lady + summer = lots of ice cream. We have gone to U Scream multiple times this summer. It hits the spot, but my initial enthusiasm has waned. Service and portion sizes are very inconsistent. Service can be great, especially if the owner is working, but it can also be very slow. We've gone a couple of times and been shocked by how small the portions were given the price, and other times it seemed like the perfect amount. I've tried about 4-5 different flavors ranging from Cow Tracks, a caramel chocolate that I completely forgot the name of, fudge brownie, birthday cake, dinosaur crunch, etc. Everything is really delicious here. Tried it for the first time the other day and the birthday cake flavor was really good! I really enjoyed it, but the only thing I wasnt a fan of was the gummy bears. They werent actually gummy bears, they were fruit snacks that are bears and seemed like they were just kept in a freezer so they had the same texture and feel as a normal gummy bear.
