Stale as heck, dehydrated and dry burrito.
A Rose D.

I really wanted to like this place, but I feel misled by the high ratings. Maybe I visited on an off day, or perhaps the reviewers are college students who haven't experienced great food yet. I ordered an egg burrito, and unfortunately, it wasn't made to order. The lack of care in scrambling the eggs and wrapping them in a fresh flour tortilla was disappointing. The restaurant was empty, yet what I received was a microwaved burrito. Wrapped tightly in parchment paper, it was extremely hot, but when I opened it, I realized it had been frozen, quickly defrosted in the microwave, and then tossed in a pan. The burrito was dry and stale definitely not worth the $9 price tag. It was small, almost like a hot pocket. I won't be returning to this place. Coffee was okay.

Im sorry I hate when coffee shops say cold foams can only be put on certain drinks... isn't being able to curate the drink your customer is asking for a part of the experience? Was told the pumpkin cold foam couldn't be placed on matcha. But Whats stopping you from doing it? Too strict in here.. like come on whats with the restrictions on using cold foam??? Let people get their festive matcha in peace. Had to change my whole order.

Cute, clean vibe with plenty of space to hang out. Service was patient, kind, and super friendly while I took my time looking over the menu. Tried their So Long Summer specials--the iced horchata latte was just okay, but the cold brew oolong tea was floral, refreshing, and definitely the highlight. I'd come back to try their coffee next time.

This location is a super cool spot! Clean and spacious interior. I got a White Lotus latte, which was delicious! The barista helped me decide, and she was absolutely right. I'd definitely return to this location and get this exact drink again.

Just okay! Parking is right on Granby so be prepared to parallel park and potentially have to pay the meter! We came on a Sunday and parked in a 30 minute loading zone to quickly stop in for some coffee beans and coffees The people working were extremely nice and very welcoming! We were choosing some coffee beans as a gift and they were able to explain what types of beans they use in store. We got a 10% discount for 'older' beans which is nice to know that their stock is continuously rotating and they keep track of that kind of stuff. I got a cold brew + milk and sweetener. Unfortunately, this missed the mark for me. The cold brew was sour and acidic, perhaps it wasn't extracted long enough or the coffee was too coarse when soaking. Not a coffee expert but just my two cents! I would recommend their lattes which are a lot better and the flavors better balance each other out I also got an iced matcha latte and was happy that they are one of the few places that use quality matcha and a matcha whisk. I do like my lattes on the sweeter side so I will request a flavor or something next time. Overall, I would still recommend Three Ships but with the warning that this is not Starbucks or Dunkin, their coffee speaks for itself and the additional stuff will come... additionally.

The coffee is pretty good I must say. Did not provide me a sleeve and it was very HOT. Service is zero... no hello, no goodbye, no nothing. NON EXISTENT. Ambience seems like it has potential to be pretty good, was my first time and honestly the coffee is good but I will NEVER COME BACK. Not welcoming at all, no customer service touch whatsoever.

Stopped by the sister location of the original Three Ships Coffee in Norfolk this morning for a couple drinks to go. I was a little surprised to see how busy they were, given they rarely are whenever I do stop in. The service, however, was quick and on point, so no complaints there. I do prefer the original spot at the beach, though. The high ceilings and colors inside make it seem much more industrial and a little less warm. The coffees, though, which are what I was there to get, were great as expected. I do wish they would have their coconut cold foam. I've been three times in the last couple of weeks to both locations first thing in the morning, and they have always been out.

Beautiful location on Granby St. for a modern coffee house! I love the artwork inside. It reminded me of Loki and Miss Time. lol. I made it in time to try their holiday menu before they ended it. So I got to try their gingerbread latte and egg nog latte. The egg nog is pre-maid with milk so if you have dairy-intolerance, then don't get it (like me). But I did order that for my brother who really enjoyed it! I liked my gingerbread latte but felt like I didn't get much hints of gingerbread. I think what really sticks out to me is that they make their treats from scratch and they are ones that we know we'll like pop-tarts and an oatmeal cookie sandwich! I love the way they present their iced lattes. From their brand's label to the vintage black and white straw... it's a vibe. My daughter got a chocolate chip cookie. It was huge and tasty. She enjoyed it so much that I didn't even get to try it. They were busy when I went therefore, I waited about 10 minutes for our drinks. I wish the service was a little faster but what can you do when it's a busy day?! There is modern-like seating by the window. But not plentiful. Most seats were taken when I was there. I have been talking up this cafe to my family so I definitely recommend it to those who end up reading this review! Enjoy!

I asked for a dirty chai latte. I'm not sure if it was because the chai was too intense or the oat milk was too strong, but something didn't taste right to me. The service and vibes were great. Highly recommend if you want a place to study or do some work. There is street parking, but you might need to park at a garage one block from the cafe.

Overall a good experience!! This is apparently their third location and I like that it's situated where it is. In the heart of downtown Norfolk, so many other places to shop/eat/explore/etc. Good luck finding parking though.... I had the Vanilla Latte and the Breakfast Burrito. Vanilla Latte was great, super light and flavorful. Not gonna lie, the breakfast burrito was just alright - it didn't taste bad at all but it definitely could've meshed all the ingredients together a bit better, and the small size of it threw me off. Not a bad meal but definitely could be worked upon more. Service was great! It was my first time there and they were understanding and helpful in my experience. There are only 1-2 workers at any given time, so please be patient with them.

Stephanie S.

This is such a cool place in the heart of downtown Norfolk! They have merchandise for sale, including a pour over gadget. I got one of their Valentine's specials with Maraschino cherry cappuccino . It was really smooth. I also tried their oatmeal cream pie, and a vegan gluten-free muffin. The service was stellar. The barista took the time to answer my questions. I'll be back as they have so many options to try, especially their breakfast burrito.

Small af iced vanilla latte

Only pro to this place is they get your drink to you pretty quickly. As someone who will spend too much on a coffee, this place is way too pricey. Also, no nonfat milk options only nut. And no caramel. $8 for this tiny iced vanilla latte. (No my hands are not giant)

Delicious drinks but kind of expensive for the size of drinks we got. I'll still try this place again.

Tasty breakfast, creatively made coffee! The actual drink I ordered wasn't my favorite, but the roast is good and the vibe is great in here.

We were turned on to Rustic Spoon a couple years ago when visiting family in Norfolk. Now, it's a must STOP whenever visiting the area. On our last visit, I realized I've checked in and posted pics but never reviewed. Needless to say, I've been gate keeping this little gem as long as I could. Sadly it's been a known spot for locals for years. Whenever we visit, the food and service has been spot on. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Just yesterday, Isabel was our server. As with previous visits, we were taken care of with personable and friendly service. She was a good sport about some minor issues we kind of made jokes about and went along with them... Food wise, they have a regular menu with some great options as well as some specials they change and rotate seasonally. I've enjoyed the Soft Shell Crab Benedict, Fried Shrimp Benedict, Shrimp and Grits, Short Rib Hash among the various brunch items. I've seen and wanted to try their dinner options but sadly have only visited during brunch hours. They have a main dining area and bar area, patio dining and an upstairs area for dining. All are comfortable and service from the kitchen is prompt. Definitely a worthwhile stop when in the area. Keep on Yelp'n!

The noise level was not crazy and we were greeted by our server shortly after being seated. We had several of the drink options, including some local IPA's and the famous Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager. We like Rustic Spoon quite a bit and look forward to a return visit!

I was taken care of by the chef and she was very helpful with the menu. They have so many appetizing options on their mostly healthy, all fresh menu. I love soup, so I love that they offer several each day, with some standards, plus a soup of the day, which on the day I visited was cream of potato. Where I sat at the counter, I could watch them making all the food and I was impressed to see that they don't just ladle soup into a bowl to serve it, they actually cook and prepare, then dress it to plate it perfectly. Their cream of potato was really good and not the traditionally made where the potato is pureed into the soup - rather they make a creamy soup base and then add potatoes to it. The combo of the soup, a small piece of potato, scallion, and a small piece of bacon really made for a great spoonful in each spoonful I enjoyed!! My coworker got their Asian Chicken Noodle and that looked amazing! He said it was incredible. Next up was the entrée and we both got their lamb gyro.... It's not the traditional gyro, it's an openfaced style, just like their chicken salad toast. It was really good! The tzatziki was great on it! And we also got a side of their cucumber feta salad... this tasted fresh and the feta was vibrant, with the combo of the cucumber and feta together being incredibly tasty. Overall, another very nice visit to a Stockpot restaurant... Looks like I need to try their Chesapeake location to get the trifecta of Stockpot! Highly recommend stopping in!

I visited on a Wednesday morning before taking my nephews to the library. The location is great,…read moreit's attached to The Selden Market and has a convenient parking garage right next door. The restaurant was very clean, and since it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. The staff was welcoming and friendly. A few minutes after we placed our order, we were informed that they were out of breakfast potatoes, which was surprising since it was still before 10 a.m. This limited some of the breakfast options, so I ended up ordering the Selden Breakfast (a biscuit sandwich), a kid's chicken noodle soup, a biscuit on the side, and a lavender matcha. The sandwich was delicious, especially after adding the garlic aioli. My only complaint was that the biscuit wasn't served warm, and I think warming it would have elevated the sandwich. The biscuit we ordered on the side was also not warm. The lavender flavor in the matcha was enjoyable, but the drink itself missed the mark. The color and matcha flavor seemed off, and it wasn't mixed well--I could see clumps of matcha powder sitting in the ice. On a positive note, my nephew really enjoyed the chicken noodle soup. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience, but there were enough positives that I'd be willing to come back and give it another try.

It has been nearly three weeks; I can stop thinking about No Frill Bar and Grill…read more I'm a military spouse, so I know my time in Hampton Roads is coming to an end soon. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
