    Difinitive Octoberfest
    Rich C.

To those of us who have experienced busy or hectic times in our lives, know all too well how fast food can numb us to the experience of savoring great tasting food. For me growing up, it was the chicken sandwich. I thought I had experienced every level of a good chicken a sandwich....... WRONG! I am blessed to have friends who were raise in a pure food environment far from the false fast food facade (say that 3Xs fast). Last night these friends invited my wife and I out to experience an eatery with an unusual name and origin story - "Three Robbers Pub" in Bowdoin Maine. First, it was OPEN, unlike many places closing early week days due to staffing. A small quaint pub, we were happily greeted by Samantha who started me off with a "Definitive" Octoberfest. A very tasty and smooth local lager that forced me to pull back on the reigns for fear of overindulging. For my meal I smartly listen to the wise counsel of my friend choosing the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. It was served perfect temp on a cool bed of iceberg lettuce, glazed with their home made ranch (substituted for the bleu cheese spread) and hand cut sweet potato fries. My first bite immediately educated all 5 of my senses as to what a GREAT chicken sandwich is supposed to taste like. Every bite and addition of fries I encountered a crispy, tender, juicy and evenly flavored utopia. I am pretty sure our hard working server/ bartender Samantha, was entertained by how our table shared and raved about this meal. BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH EVER! Thank you Samantha and 3 Robb's, we'll be back soon! Please spoil yourself and bring your loved ones, friends or co-workers to Three Robbers Pub and learn about how it got its name!

It is always a pleasure to spend time at Three Robbers Pub!! Consistently providing a welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, excellent food and drinks, all reasonably priced. This establishment is close to home in proximity, and I feel lucky to be able to visit frequently. Not to mention the BEST Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with homemade ranch dressing anywhere, hands down!!! A must stop if you find yourself in the Bowdoinham area!!

How fantastic Three Robbers Pub is open! Great selection of food with inventive choices! Fish and chips and poppers! Great attribute to this is Update: stopped in for dinner again. Tried the wings. Rubbery and the taste was so off putting. Do not get the wings! Changed my rating. Sorry. Just really bad.

Great food, small place with plenty of seating so you're never far from your server. Great drink selection also.

We were not sure about the ordering process, and after a few minutes started trying to find the pub website and look for a menu. Eventually a menu was brought to our table, and we put in an order for beer. Turns out, half of the items on the menu were not available. When we did figure out an order, more items were made not available. We settled on a NY style pizza. We did not get the toppings we ordered. Good news: the crust was very good, and worth another try! Even the leftovers were delicious the next day - not all pizza can do that. They do not know how to pour a Guinness - which is too bad, because that is a favorite beer of ours. We switched to another tap and had a local red. The tap selection is decent. The place has a very casual atmosphere, and many locals come and go and seem to have great conversation and know each other's business. Overall, a place with great potential, especially for regulars. Hopefully, another visit will be more successful for exploring the menu which sounds good.

Everything was aesthetically pleasing but I did find the muscles overly sauced with a little too much salt for my palette. The lobster flatbread was fine but nothing spectacular since the flatbread was not made there. Lobster meat and corn were sporadically covering the bread. Very good for a shared appetizer. Raviolis were great but since they were stuffed with peas and to have them with pea sauce is a little bit too much but again it was tasty. The scallop dish was on the pricey side for just three large scallops with pea sauce. Apparently they use their homegrown peas in the garden which is organically good. Crab cakes were delicious. There's a little band playing in the pub on Sunday nights. Good place to go to eat after checking in the hotel.

I was already in a foul mood, walking in here set me into straight sensory overload. It's a bar where they sing. I am unable to get inebriated enough to enjoy bars where they sing any longer. Call me miserable, maybe I suppose. In addition to the merry old fella belting it out on the mic, we had the joy of having some drunk guy in a large group behind us try and out sing him without a microphone. He even challenged the old guy singing to a form of a duel. Anyway I was so off, I cannot remember anything about my server at all. Nothing. I do remember almost screaming and running out. I sat there trying not to lose it while my wife had the time of her life. Every song made it worse, everyone else is singing, I am dying. When the guy took a break, guess what, dickhead from the crowd goes up and takes over. Shots helped at this point and the weed is kicking in well at this point. Now I'm hungry... My food was inedible and I'm pretty sure incomplete as well. The worst flatbread in the history of flatbreads. C's looked pretty good actually so I am sure her experience was quite different than mine. I hope to never return. '25 - extra

I would love to know where they get the decor for this place. I'd imagine a lot of flea markets (fabulous ones)? It's hard to pick my favorite decor item because there are so many, but it's somewhere between the chairs shaped like hands and the giant silver octopus tentacle under the T.V. Ooo and the corner with all the clowns! Drinks are strong and cheap. The bartenders are friendly. There's a patio, but it's a bit small. There are plenty of comfy chairs/couches. They have live music pretty often, so if that's your thing, you'll be happy there on weekend nights. The only thing is the space is kind of small for live music, so it can get really loud. This is an excellent chill option if you're in Hallowell and want to skip bars that tend to get a bit fratty like The Quarry Taproom. Highly recommend!
