    "Beef goulash"
    Mary S.

The menu is soooo much smaller than it was. Only two pages instead of 8-10. What ruined this place for me for good is the special I ordered the other day - "beef goulash" - which I asked the waiter about. He said with brown gravy over noodles. I wasn't expecting authentic Czech or Hungarian goulash but my gods. They served maybe 5 ounces of beef pieces that had been soaked in something with tomatoes and served it over spaghetti, and not a generous size. It was the goulash of nightmares. And it cost $18 with no soup, salad, or anything else. Last time I ever go here. I should have known better when it was only two other tables of people at lunchtime. In the 90's this place was always busy. We are running out of decent diners in the area and I guess this place did well to survive so long but my gods. Don't ever offer that goulash again. Service was great though!

chopped steak dinner.. photo makes it look so appetizing but it's horrible!

Came here because the other diner that I frequent to, is under renovation for the past few weeks and I was very hesitant as this place have mostly bad reviews. Well, I wasn't wrong. Service was friendly and prompt, so that's 1 star minimum. The 2nd star is for the French onion soup, average, edible. The chopped steak wasn't good. No flavor and the meat just had a weird taste, the gravy and onions made it somewhat edible. But the mashed potatoes was horrible. How can you mess up mashed potato? Didn't taste like potatoes at all, I can't point a finger to its taste. One of the most terrible food and lunch I've ever spent money on. Although the photo makes it look so appetizing- it's the opposite of that. I'm pretty easy to please since I like comfort food that someone else made.. but this was just awful. Maybe their breakfast is better? It's hard to mess up eggs and bacon right? But, I will NOT be back.

Stopped here for breakfast. Greeted by a friendly waitress who was very accomadating. The atmosphere was clean and bright. We ordered our usual breakfast. I had a toasted English muffin with 2 eggs. I requested sugar free jam or jelly; they had none. My dining mate ordered eggs , toast and homefries. All basic and good. The coffee was very good and the waitress came by frequently to fill up our cups. I read other negative reviews about the food but we had no complaints with our meal and left satisfied

Decent diner offering the usual diner items. My meal didn't really wow me but it wasn't bad either. It got the job done and I wasn't unhappy about it. The sevice was extremely attentive and friendly.

The chef doesn't comprehend very well. Asked for well done turkey bacon and it came back pink. Had blt and he put eggs on it. The waiter was extremely polite and courteous. Fast also. I would not recommend this establishment.

The outside of the restaurant is designed to look like an old diner from the 50's (don't quote me on that era reference) which makes the diner look inviting. I got the breakfast burrito which Id rate a 4/10 w/ a side of home fries 3/10. The restaurant was busy so it took the waitress a bit to get to our table to take our food order, after we put in our drink orders. The coffee was fresh, atmosphere was upbeat, and I think maybe their other items might be better than the one I ordered, I'd like to go back and give it another try with something different.

Food was ok. Miss the old menu. Sad economy is causing so many issues. Thank Theresa for chat. Will return.

The staff is very attentive and kind. The menu is varied to the point of having difficulty choosing. We chose Hungarian stuffed cabbage and trio salad. HUGE portions are their signature. My meal came with a cup of soup & I chose matzo ball. Also, I chose baked potato and chickpea salad and a side tossed salad. I do not eat processed sugar and they had oil and vinegar to dress the tossed salad. We had 2 large pieces of challah bread with it and hubby had half of a lemon danish for his dessert, saving the rest for tonight. The bakery section is very impressive and I would have had a very hard time back in my sugar addicted days. This place is already on my calendar for next year's return. I had a neat conversation with our waitress about Amorgos and Santorini Greece. This family does a great job of serving the community!

The London broil wrap was cooked well, but I eventually had to eat it with a fork and knife because it was so oily. Overall, a good selection of your typical diner offerings of wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and salads that make them a reliable staple most anywhere. I would definitely return if I was in the area.

The walls are covered with relics from the old Great Danbury Fair, and the 100-year-old bar gives the whole place a warm, lived-in charm that feels real, not staged. The Mushroom Panini was packed with portobello mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, red pepper pesto, tomatoes, and greens on rustic crust bread. Add Rosy's fries and you're set. The Pastrami on a Pretzel Roll was another winner with sautéed onions, Swiss, and whole grain mustard. Also came with Rosy's fries, which we happily demolished. Rebeca, our server, was awesome. No more. I've given up on this place. I went a few times in the past and it was "good enough."…read moreUnfortunately, the two most recent times I walked out very frustrated. Today, I ordered Crab Cakes Benedict and as they were being brought to the table I smelled a strong fishy smell and I have a weak sense of smell. I took one bite and lo and behold, it tasted off. I let them know and asked for just regular Eggs Benedict. She asked if I wanted Canadian Bacon and I asked for other options, and decided on regular bacon. I waited a little bit and they brought it out with Canadian Bacon, not regular bacon, I was about to just take it off and eat it but the girl realized her mistake and said she would fix it. By the time they brought out the "third" version we barely had any time left. It comes time to pay and the bill has Crab Cakes Benedict $20. I mentioned it to the server because what I ate was cheaper and she said "the kitchen told me to charge you that." Excuse me?! You mean the fishy, old crabcakes that could have gotten me sick? Not to mention the inconvenience of waiting. I honestly couldn't believe the audacity. Also, SHAME ON THEM for trying to get away with that--what about someone else that doesn't notice or just acquiesces to not be a bother. Also, two weeks prior when we went, we were about 50% done with our meal and my young daughter suddenly had to use the restroom--I left my keys on the table and smiled at the servers on our way to the bathroom. I come back and our food was thrown out and my keys were at the hostess stand. Really?? They offered to remake the food after the fact but I had to get my daughter to school and we didn't have time. Never again Edit to add my response to the owner's reply: Ron, I'm happy for you and your crab cake business. I love crab cakes which is why I ordered them--there's absolutely no reason for me to not eat them after ordering. To reiterate, within the first bite, I noticed they tasted off, smelled off too--I didn't care to chance food poisoning. In your reply to my review, your accusation that I'm "trying to hurt a small business" is an interesting, if not telling choice of language and one that's quite incendiary. I posted my review on Google & Yelp, the two places that I use for reference. It's curious that you view this as an attempt to essentially dismantle your business. Review systems were put in place so that people can share their experiences and that is exactly what I have done.
