Overall, food was good. Another waiter stopped by intermittently to make sure the coffees were topped off. Thought that was nice. Overall, service was very good and food was good too. The menu is soooo much smaller than it was. Only two pages instead of 8-10. What ruined this place for me for good is the special I ordered the other day - "beef goulash" - which I asked the waiter about. He said with brown gravy over noodles. I wasn't expecting authentic Czech or Hungarian goulash but my gods. They served maybe 5 ounces of beef pieces that had been soaked in something with tomatoes and served it over spaghetti, and not a generous size. It was the goulash of nightmares. And it cost $18 with no soup, salad, or anything else. Last time I ever go here. I should have known better when it was only two other tables of people at lunchtime. In the 90's this place was always busy. We are running out of decent diners in the area and I guess this place did well to survive so long but my gods. Don't ever offer that goulash again. Came here because the other diner that I frequent to, is under renovation for the past few weeks and I was very hesitant as this place have mostly bad reviews. Well, I wasn't wrong. Service was friendly and prompt, so that's 1 star minimum. The 2nd star is for the French onion soup, average, edible. The chopped steak wasn't good. No flavor and the meat just had a weird taste, the gravy and onions made it somewhat edible. But the mashed potatoes was horrible. How can you mess up mashed potato? Didn't taste like potatoes at all, I can't point a finger to its taste. One of the most terrible food and lunch I've ever spent money on. Although the photo makes it look so appetizing- it's the opposite of that. I'm pretty easy to please since I like comfort food that someone else made.. but this was just awful. The outside of the restaurant is designed to look like an old diner from the 50's (don't quote me on that era reference) which makes the diner look inviting. I got the breakfast burrito which Id rate a 4/10 w/ a side of home fries 3/10. The restaurant was busy so it took the waitress a bit to get to our table to take our food order, after we put in our drink orders. The coffee was fresh, atmosphere was upbeat, and I think maybe their other items might be better than the one I ordered, I'd like to go back and give it another try with something different. read more

*BEWARE* Me and my gf are new to the area and decided to try the diner out. I ordered the burger with curly fries and she had pulled pork Mac and cheese. The burger was flavorless, and the second I lifted the burger up I noticed the whole bottom bun was saturated in blood. I ate half the burger but had to stop or else I would have gotten sick (later on in the night I did). The pulled pork Mac and cheese was cold when we got it. You could tell the meat was definitely old and tough and the Mac and cheese tasted sour. Our waiter had two other tables and wasn't able to fill our drinks once. I was visiting Danbury, and came in with my family to order some food. I got the patty melt. Cousins ordered fries, some sandwiches and a modified eggs Benedict. My patty melt was very dry and bland. It was hard to swallow, I don't know what it was, it just wasn't that good. My cousin ordered the eggs Benedict but request eggs to come over medium. It came out as a regular Benedict. We didn't complain or anything. We just had everything as is. The girl waitress was nice, but not very attentive. My water didn't get refilled until after I finished my patty melt. Disappointing to see that they've gone downhill... We've been going to 3 Brothers for years and have always had good food and service. However, this was not the case today; service was bad and so was the food. As soon as we sat down, we put in an order of Red, White, and Blue French toast (served with strawberries, bananas, and bkueberries) for our kids, so that it would come quickly and they would have time to eat, since they'reslow eaters. Shortly after that, she came back and said they were out of bananas (so we assumed it would come quickly); no -- it didn't come out until after we were nearly done with our own meals and it came out without maple syrup!! We waited, but ended up having to leave the table to ask another waitress to bring us syrup. Additionally, the French toast was dry and not as good as it usually is. Our waitress never once came over to check on us or to see if we needed anything, which forced us to have to get up and seek out assistance multiple times. We had empty waters and juice cups for a good portion of our dining experience. When our breakfast dishes finally came, the eggs in the breakfast burrito were overcooked and dry; we asked that it be made with American cheese, and they made it with cheddar; she forgot the sour cream and salsa with the breakfast burrito and, by the time she brought us some, the burrito was cold. We happened to order a side of hash browns, and that's what our kids had to eat while they waited for their food to come. Other issues today: I asked for splenda with my coffee, she gave me sweet and low; the hash browns were way overcooked and hard; we had to leave the table to go and get silverware ourselves because she never gave us any; we asked for water for the kids when their food was finally served, but she didn't bring them water until AFTER she gave us the check; one bathroom stall of 2 had no toilet paper and the hand dryer does not work. In the past, we even choose the longer drive to go here instead of other diners that are closer because we've always been happy with the food and service. Not sure what's going on here, but I doubt we will make the trip to 3 Brothers all the way from New Fairfield again if this is the new normal there. read more

They have all types of alcohol (vodka rum tequila etc) but not know brands and most was flavored. Buffalo fettuccine was bland and just okay. Not what I was expecting for $16. Roast beef French dip was dry and flavorless. We did not finish or attempt to even continue eating. Expensive, mediocre, but large portions exactly describes this place. We will not be back. The breakdown was $11.99 for the plate of literally just MAC and cheese, and $2.99 for a single hard boiled egg. One dollar more and I could have gotten the dish advertised with meat and fine cheeses. I was passing through Danbury today for business, and stopped to see my daughter at Western Connecticut State University. We decided to get some breakfast since it was morning after all. She recommended that we go to three Brothers for some breakfast. I was completely pleased with the food, the service, and the cleanliness and bright atmosphere overall. Really nice friendly place. Perhaps one of the biggest highlights of this place is the excellent showcase of homemade desserts that they have, absolutely beautiful and amazing! Sat down to breakfast with my partner at 7:50am. Gertrude was our server. As she was busy with a party of 5 and a party of two we sat for 5 minutes before she came to get our drink order. The two other servers only had 1 table each and did not offer any help to her as she clearly was busy. Nor did the owner seem to be bothered that guests in her restaurant were waiting for a long period of time for a simple order to be taken. Once it hit 8:15 and we only had drinks in front of us our order still not taken we decided to leave. It is unacceptable to let your team struggle. Also to let your pride get in the way when it impacts the guests experience. My clock starts the second I walk in. I am very understanding, however 20 minutes and the entire team let this server fail, and that server couldn't ask for help was much. Lastly upon leaving when the owner confronted me to why I was leaving and said " sweetheart " to me is patronizing, and demeaning. When someone is upset any language like that to diffuse the situation only makes it worse. A clear lesson in how to handle upset guests needs to be administered here.
