She has been great at providing suggestions, double checks with me to make sure that I'm ok with what I'm asking and offers suggestions. Not many men like to take care of their hair when it's long but I do my best to. Megan has made this experience amazing. I regularly get complimented and fell great about the results. Because I have long hair, my review will fit those with. But I know she is talented and can also do different styles. Check her out. Curly girls, you know how hard it is to pick a new stylist. At worst, we get someone who whacks at…read moreour hair in giant chunks or *shudders* thinks a straight cut is a good idea. At best, we find a stylist who cuts at an angle, understands layering, and maybe dials it up with a razor for texture. I thought I had experienced top-notch curly cuts, and then Carla Estevez moved the bar. I found Carla via a friend-recommendation, and I've referred her many times since. Here's what makes her stand out in my mind: she curates curls like she's sculpting, rather than cutting them in a traditional way. My first cut, I needed a complete reshape, so she did The Usual that I'm familiar with to get reasonable layers. Then she dried it...and the magic began. Once she could see what my curls were doing, she pulled individual curls out to snip, and continued this way around my head as we talked about how the shape was coming along. Because of this approach, I could SEE what was emerging and have input. As a result, I ended up with an adorable angled cut that had lift and bounce and really put my curls in their best mode. I also went shorter than I EVER would have allowed another stylist to take me, because each step, she asked questions, and because of my response, we adjusted. It's been two years now of amazing cuts and I rarely wear my hair pulled back now...it's just too happy to be contained. If you need a curl-tamer, go see Carla. Seriously, you deserve a cut this good!

She is 100% qualified and clachet (aka classy ratchet; but only if / when you get to know her). She can be an ultra dignified stylist who is super professional, if that's what you like, want, and need. Myself, I go for the ratchet; forget the classy part; that's too dull of an appointment for me. I appreciate this level of ratchet humour, highly skilled service. (She could offer me bubbles, though...but...that'd be me being bougie and classy adjacent...so, Jesus' regular grape juice it is or that beverage made for monks...the fasting fermented calories one...buuut, I digress...). That noted, she is...a BEAST with colour. Don't question this. She knows what she's about. (Debate me! I told you I don't want to share, but I can't lie or joke about this; even if it makes me feel snarky having to admit it; ugh!) I've been asked for YEARS to leave a damn review and I have STAUNCHLY REFUSED. Now, I'm the first one here; argh! Have I ever recommended her to friends...reluctantly, yes; repeatedly. I had payed for a wig of mine to be sewn down. This was my first time receiving this service so I was unaware of the process. Having left the appointment, my wig cap was noticeably visible. The wig in which I had sewn down was a 360 lace wig meaning I should be able to wear in updos. The wig didn't even sit right on top of my head which later I found out was because of how she braided the hair. I couldn't pull my hair up without my wig being pulled back exposing the cap. My hair looked like a complete embarrassment. I have never been so disappointed about a hair service. It is very important you do your research & find someone who is a certified wig stylist which La Tonya Jackson is not. Thankfully I was able to find a real certified wig stylist who was able to do my hair under such short notice because I model and had a photo shoot the next day.. I would not recommend this service or place for anyone seeking professional and quality work.

In the past, I had K-tips and wefts installed, but when I found Kelly and learned about her Brazilian Knot method, I was immediately intrigued. I have very thin hair due to both genetics and previous cancer treatments, and I loved that her technique allows for small, individualized sections. I scheduled a consultation with Kelly, feeling nervous and honestly wondering if extensions would even be an option for me. From the moment we met, I could tell that Kelly truly cares about her clients and is committed to giving honest, professional advice. She could have easily booked my installation appointment as soon as I said I was interested, but instead, she encouraged me to go home and think about it because she wanted me to understand that it's a commitment. After giving it some thought, my answer was still a definite yes! The installation appointment was such a fun experience. Kelly made the process look effortless, but I know it takes incredible skill and precision to meticulously hand-tie every single knot. As she worked, I was amazed that I couldn't feel any weight on my hair at all. She mentioned that I might notice it the next day. As she moved toward the sides of my hair, I thought for sure I'd feel some tension since my hair is very thin on my crown and sides, but even then, everything felt light and comfortable. Another thing that really impressed me is that Kelly ethically sources her hair. The quality is incredible, and because of that, the extensions blend seamlessly with my natural hair. I know I have extensions in, but I can't even tell they're there when I look in the mirror. It truly looks and feels like my own hair. I also have to mention how beautiful and clean Kelly's studio is. The space is so welcoming and professional, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable and relaxing. I'm writing this review 3 days after my appointment, and I am honestly shocked by how comfortable these extensions are. I slept comfortably all night and still don't feel any weight or tension in my hair. Kelly's application method is truly incredible, and I've already booked my move-up appointment.
