Nice little cafe on the corner of Austin Highway and I didn't get the name of the other street but it's on the corner. The inside is cute looks like it was made in the 80s. Service was OK could've been better. We didn't have to wait too long before the waitress take our order. She was great in the beginning but when we needed a refill she took a while to notice us. All in all it was ok not too bad. The food was good, nothing spectacular. My bean & cheese was the best taco. The tortillas were really good tho I definitely recommend these tortillas they are fully cooked, soft and fluffy.

I ordered potato and egg and this is what I was given. A lot better options in the area than this. Seems like this place has lost its touch.

Daily fajita plate with enchiladas, a must try

We absolutely love this place! Their food is delicious and you can't beat the service and location. This trip we ordered the Daily Fajita with enchiladas and the Daily Puffy taco. Both were outstanding. All of their tacos have been fantastic as well. We are fans and highly recommend!!!

Pancakes included with the omelets for $7.99

This place is legit! It's a Mexican food restaurant in a diner type setting. Great breakfast items and plenty of lunch specials to choose from. The price point for breakfast plates is perfect. They have at least four different styles of chilaquiles plates to choose from. I had the Chilaquiles Rancheros for $6.99. It came out of the kitchen piping hot, topped with pico de gallo, ranchera sauce, and cheese. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the tortilla chips were still crispy - not soggy like you find at some places. For $6.99, it included refried beans and potatoes. The taters were good, but the beans could use just a little work - they are just a bit on the runny side. The ham omelet, smothered with cheese, includes 2 pancakes OR beans and potatoes for $7.99. The omelet and the pancakes were both light and fluffy.

Thousand Oaks Café on Austin Hwy has never disappointed us! You definitely get the ambiance of an old-school diner inside the restaurant, and the friendly staff provides good service. I ordered the huevos rancheros plate with sausage, they are one of the few places that actually offer sausage patties so I was pleased with that. Everything was very tasty especially the ranchero sauce because it's actually spicy and seasoned very well. My husband got the chorizo and egg plate which I was surprisingly impressed with. I've noticed here in Texas that a lot of Mexican restaurants use a chorizo that has a gamey or vinegary taste and this one does not. The tortillas are fantastic and the coffee is excellent. I wish we still lived on the side of town because we would be here a lot more often!

The food and service were great. A party of 5 our lunch total was $83.17 We ordered several dishes. The crowd is a festive group. Servers were very courteous. We did have to ask for the tortillas for our meal.

Chilaquiles con Fajitas

Running errands today on Austin Highway and decided to try this place. The only good thing about this place was the service. $13 for a breakfast plate that was plain and dry. 6 pieces of beef fajita with some beans "no flavor" and some cold potatoes. Even the chilaquiles was decent at best. I can go to any Taqueria on Walzem road and pay half that price and get a bigger portion. Definitely never coming back.

Best food and staff is very friendly. Chilaquiles is the best. It does get crowded so go early. They close at 3:00pm and closed on Sundays

We ordered the half chicken ($11), and I was honestly surprised by how juicy and moist it still was inside. The outside had a wonderful smoky charcoal flavor, and the marinade was flavorful all the way through. It also came with rice, corn tortillas, red and green salsa, grilled jalapeño, lime, and grilled onion, so it was a really filling meal for the price. We also tried the Bean Burger ($9.79), which was a fun combination of a beef patty, refried beans, cheese, chipotle sauce, and pico de gallo. I enjoyed it, although I personally would have loved a thicker layer of beans. The green salsa was SO good that I ended up buying an extra container for about $5 to take home. The restaurant itself is very casual and no-frills, with a big charcoal grill that really adds to the atmosphere--you can see and smell the chicken cooking. It feels much more like a local neighborhood spot than a polished tourist restaurant. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Even though we arrived late, we never felt rushed, and our server checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. I would absolutely come back for the chicken and green salsa.

The chorizo and ranchero sauce really made it stand out. The Mexican street corn on the side might have been even better. That stuff is seriously addicting like crack. I could have eaten a bowl of it by itself. Definitely a place I'd come back to.

Now listen I enjoy a good mood, but this setting went a little past moody. It was DARK dark. They could definitely bump those lights up about two settings and still keep all the ambiance. lol Thankfully, the food and service needed no adjustments. Our waiter Stephen was really nice, attentive and quick throughout our visit. Thanks for taking good care of our table! We tried the paella and steak fajitas, and everything came out nice and hot. Both were enjoyable, but we also need to talk about those spicy mango and watermelon margaritas because the drinks definitely DELIVERED. Flavor was there, and so was the pour. Overall, we had a good experience. Nice River Walk location, hot and tasty food, great drinks and friendly service. Just turn those lights up enough for me to admire the meal before I eat it.
