We visited this park when it snowed over the weekend. It's a nice place with lots of pines, great place for sliding, building a snowman or just playing in the snow. We went with our toddler and he enjoyed every bit. He rolled on the snow and it was so much fun. The parking is limited and can get pretty full soon. The park is maintained well and there are restrooms available too. A good spot to hike during spring summer and large area for picnic.

I was in town back in September to run a race that took place on the beautiful trails that were connected to this large regional park. I parked my car over at the large parking lot next to the bark park. The park was well maintained and very clean. Likewise with the restroom over at the park center. Besides the bark park, there were 4 baseball fields and 2 tennis courts. There were 4 more tennis courts and a basketball court over at the Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center at the intersection of Birch Ave and Thorpe Rd. This looked to be a great place to bring your kids and furry friends for some fresh air and exercise!

This is such a nice park to take your kid to. There's a lot of different playground equipment, including a smaller toddler area. I loved the unique playground equipment here such as the fire truck play bars and the bouncy dinosaur. I tried to get the kiddo on that bouncy dinosaur toy but she would have none of that! While my toddler is still in an awkward phase of just staring at kids for an uncomfortably long time on the playground (Hopefully she grows out of this?) she did have fun walking around and using some of the slides and bars.

Perfect park for a family that has a dog! I found this park using the Bring Fido app and my husband took our dog to the dog park, while I took our toddler son to the playground. He was more interested in the wood chips than the playground but it did keep him busy. There's a baseball field as well as a big grassy area. Some locals walk around the park with their dogs unleashed, which I'm ok with as long as the dog is kid friendly. Not sure if there are restrooms available, we didn't stay too long to look for one.

I was thinking to myself, what place should I review as the first in 2019? How about one of the places I've frequented the most in Flagstaff? This review is primarily for the dog park portion of Thorpe Park, yet the entire park has much to offer! I have been coming here since I first moved to Flagstaff with my dogs, Dakota and Montana! Although they are gone now, all of my dogs whom I've adopted in Flagstaff, love this dog park! Our dogs love the car trips but we're always baffled how they know a mile out that we are going here! My fiancé especially loves the way Gibbs barks in his ear, LOL! We have been here many times of day, and definitely weekdays from 4 to 6 PM are the busiest, which can be fun, but definitely a challenge with some overprotective dog parents! Dogs like to play, run and wrestle! Some dog parents baby their dogs, which brings more attention to that dog, and unfortunately results in dogs ganging up on that dog. Those dog parents should take their dogs to the other fenced in area of the dog park. Rarely will you find a mean or overly aggressive dog here, but it has happened on occasion, so just pay attention to where your dog is and what they are doing. Yesterday, we went on a snowy, New Year's Eve day. There were only a few dogs and it was fantastic to see our Lucy and Gibbs making great play friends! The dog park itself is about a quarter mile down on the right side of Thorpe Road by the soccer field and has two sections. The smaller section does not have a sign up, but it is assumed that it is for shy or aggressive dogs. The larger section has some agility training equipment, but nothing fancy and very limited. The park is pretty basic, nothing like the Sedona and Prescott dog parks, but still a welcomed stop for us and our dogs! There are some tables and benches as well as lots of trees for those warmer summer months! It's fun to see the dogs having a blast, even those that just want see people, like our Sedona, who passed away in June of last year. You would think that she was neglected for "pets and ear rubs" at home, the way she would be making her rounds with all the humans! Compared to other dog parks, the city has been very slow making improvements to this park. One bonus is that they finally have dedicated dog park parking spots, as when games are going on at the soccer field, parking spots could not be found! Other bonuses of Thorpe Park are the soccer fields, nearby frisbee golf and tennis/handball courts as well as a really nice playground, which is in the main park on the NW corner of Santa Fe and Thorpe Rd. The park also has quite a few festivals! One of our faves is in June, the 2 day Annual Route 66 Regional Chili Cookoff! Those chili samples are tasty and sure do fill you up! Pride In The Pines and the Cornucopia Fall Festival are a couple of big ones that take place at the soccer field! Overall, Thorpe Park is a great place for dogs, kids and adults! My only wish is that the city would direct some more funding to the dog park portion.

Had the sledding hill all to ourselves!

Absolutely favorite place to sled when I visit flagstaff! This worked out perfectly! We were in town to see some snow. We got about 2 inches and that was plenty to go hit the slopes! The Flagstaff schools were in session so we actually had the whole area to ourselves! Nice play area for the kids, newly remodeled and having real bathrooms here make it a must stop destination if you have little ones in tow! In the past I have also rented a house nearby. Great little nook of town near the observatory!

First time visiting Thorpe Park for my boys soccer tournament and after seeing they had a dog park I was excited. We originally tried to bring them in the soccer fields but were kindly told "dogs not allowed". Great, Plan B! Take dogs to dog park which is only 100+ yards from ball fields. Ball Fields. It's actually baseball, softball and football fields that they paint out soccer fields in the outfields. Pretty nice overall facility. Little play park for small children, a covered picnic area, typical bleachers around the dugouts, restroom facilities and a snack bar. Walk down Thorpe St and their is a huge park, tennis courts and more. Being a tournament weekend the parking lot was crowded but plenty of parking options around park and off Thorpe St. Dog Park. We go around the dog parks in Tempe, Gilbert and Chandler typically and it's always different. Usually dog poop is an issue or people just don't watch their hell-raising fur balls. This place was different. The dogs were all very friendly and the owners were watchful and mindful. Very chill and relaxed types. Dogs had a great time and got all their energy out in lieu of hiking which we didn't have time for.

Thorpe Park has something for everyone. Thorpe Park's Disk golf Course is my favorite in Arizona, thus far. I really enjoy playing through the woods! The Bark Park is divided into an large area for all dogs, and a smaller fenced off section for small breeds or puppies to play, if feeling intimidated. With only one exception over the years, I have only encountered well behaved dogs and owners. It is a great place to socialize your dog(s)! There is a pretty neat playground for kids, and team sports are constantly being played. Parking is sometimes difficult, but oh, so worth it! Thorpe Park has 4 lighted adult softball fields, 3 youth baseball fields, 2 playgrounds, a sand volleyball court, a basketball court, 2 soccer fields, 4 lighted tennis courts + 2 tennis courts, a picnic ramada, 2 racquetball courts, 2 horseshoe courts, a disc golf course, a dog park and both portable and permanent restrooms all on 219 acres. Nice!

Love this park! They have a separate park that is more quiet and small. We've met tons of nice people here, and the park itself is nice. I wish it weren't dirt, but I completely understand why it is! My pup definitely isn't too happy about the weekly baths, but being able to meet so many nice dogs and dog owners makes up for it! We have never had a bad experience although there are times when I feel like owners should better watch their dogs. My pup in rather small and can get run over quite easily. It's okay if it's once because I can protect my own dog, but if your dog is playing too rough with my dog and I've had to push them off my girl more than once, then it's time to step in. Last thing, please read the rules before coming!! It's required that your dog is neutered or spayed before visiting the dog park. The amount of times my dog has been aggressively humped is just sad.

Our dogs love this park. Plenty of well behaved dogs to romp with, room to roam, and places to explore There are enclosures for large and small dogs, but our 3 lb chihuahua plays with the big dogs in the large dog area and has never had a problem. In the winter months you need to bring your own water since the water fountains are off because of the possibility they might freeze and break. It can get muddy after the snow melts or a good rain, but the parks and rec people are pretty good about putting down wood chips at the entrance to keep it from being too messy.

This is probably one of great places to be to watch a soccer tournament. Weather is beautiful and facility is nicely maintained. It's easy to lose track of time while enjoying its surrounding. It is actually a beautiful softball facility nestled in the woodsy Flagstaff Arizona. Without noticing the signs, we brought our dogs to come join us on this trip. Unfortunately, we were politely notified that dog's are not allowed. My poor hubby had to take the dogs out but fortunately, there was a dog park near by.

Very nice park but is NOT a dog park which is what we searched for. Dogs are permitted in the park but must remain on a leash.

Our tour guide, Marco, was fantastic and great at answering questions for our little group of 4. The mansion really is just a showcase of how a wealthy person's home from the early 1900's. You get a glimpse into their business and personal lives as well as the type of furniture employed in the household. The tour was interactive and nice. The self guided tour is just literally walking around the mansion so there isn't too much to see but it makes for a nice, short walk.
