I couldn't tolerate any type of cleanings without being put to seek because of my fear. Dr. saudefur was very patient, caring and understanding. Full disclosure: I was gnawing on a lamb chop bone on a Saturday night and my 4 front upper teeth on my partial popped off. Because I wanted to go to church on Sunday, I used dental glue to put them back on the partial. I did pretty good, but they just weren't quite right. I called ThoroughDent Smiles and got an appointment with my dentist who I had seen before, Dr. Neda. She thought I had glued them back together pretty good, but I explained to her that they were really old, and I was interested in getting a new partial depending on cost and whether I had to use that goop to do the impression. She told me about a different way they do partials, where they don't use the metal, but a plastic that is not rigid. And it would be cheaper than the metal kind. And they could do the x-ray instead of the goop! I said sign me up! They did the x-ray thing, and I didn't even gag, because they told me a special tip about putting salt on the back of your tongue-and you don't gag. It works, so now I carry salt in my car, but they have some there if you need it. Special shout out to Reagan who was the assistant who was very kind and patient! Dr. Neda was so kind and told me that I would probably hate the partial at first and then I would love it. She was right in that the first time I put it in, it hurt a little and then when we tried to get it back out, I thought they were going to have to climb up on the chair with me with pliers to remove them. They worked on it a little and soon they were not a problem, and I love them! With my old partial, I was very self-conscious and felt like the teeth were a little too big and would never smile with my whole mouth. Now they are so natural looking, you would never know they are not my teeth. They did an excellent job matching the color and I can now smile with my whole mouth!!! Another shout out to Keri who helped me with my follow-up appointment. We had a great talk. And I can't stop without giving a shout out to the ladies working at the front desk who are always friendly and willing to explain everything and help you out. This place is a dental mill. - I called to ensure that my insurance could be fully utilized and I was told yes, so I made an appointment. The person starts asking me for name, social security number, and phone numbers of others in my life. This conveyed to me that they overbill and come after your tribe for money. Red flag no. 1. - I called the day of my appointment to confirm because I hadn't heard from them. Turns out my appointment was canceled because I hadn't confirmed. Why? Because they were texting reminders to my relative's phone and not mine. I also didn't like that it was so money-focused during the appt process. $150 for cancellations not made within 48 hours, interest charged on late payments, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if a collections dept was on site. Red flag no.2. - I arrive to the office for my new appointment and it is packed with people. I immediately wonder how they afford all this staff and office space and hi-tech equipment so I eavesdrop on other patients, all of whom seem to be getting a lot of expensive work done. Red flag no. 3. - My dental assistant was great. Loved her! The dentist I didn't like as much. He had a condescending vibe under his pleasant tone. He put down the color of my teeth, my previous dentist's work, etc. Bro looked 12 years old and insulted a dentist with 40 years of experience. Then I heard the two words that strike fear in me: Treatment Plan. Every dentist I've heard that from has slapped me with an extensive amount of work and an enormous bill. Red flag no. 4. - Turns out that the tooth I came in for could wait, but almost every crown in my mouth needed to be replaced. Jackpot! There was no discussion about what I could afford or what I wanted. Red flag no. 5. - I go to check out and am handed a $2600 bill for my "treatment plan", which didn't even include the tooth I came in for. I ask again if they're in network for my insurance. Yes & no, she says. They cover the premier and I'm a ppo or something, so I pay just a little more. I should've been told this prior to making the appt because I want to use ALL of my benefits. I wonder if I can send them a bill for this, with interest, and ask them for their cousin's social security number. Then they want to schedule an appt for the work, or a portion of it anyway. She looks at me like I have two heads when I decline. I'm busy and need to think about it, plus I don't want to be charged $150 if I choose to cancel. Red flag no. 6. Six red flags adds up to a flashing warning billboard. I felt like all they cared about was the almighty dollar and had zero care or concern about me as a person. That's why I prefer a small office with a dentist I trust. I don't like dental mills. Two stars for having a good dental assistant and the thank you card I got in the mail. Do not go here unless you want pain when you weren't experiencing any pain prior to coming; to be financially drained and to miss hours and hours of work due to incompetency of the staff!! After spending over $2000 replacing a bridge (that was causing no pain whatsoever) the replacement caused bacteria to get into my root, which then caused a need for a root canal, which led me to a "temporary" (which has become semi- permanent) bridge. My permanent bridge is still not in two months later (due to a discrepancy in the lab) with no follow up from the staff to see what the issue was or to correct whatever discrepancy it was. I still do not have an expected delivery date after I had to call and follow up instead of the promised call that I would receive. Due to the incompetent staff, the mold they took was misaligned and "squished" causing my temporary to be an ill fit that has broken (which chipped another tooth) and fallen off twice. The last assistant did not even use cement on the back tooth the last time it fell off and I spent an hour and a half waiting to get the issue resolved. Due to the incorrect mold my current "temporary" is still an ill-fit due to the assistant not taking the correct mold because you can only do that prior to having any procedures completed. I am so far into the expenses and time that I have to finish out the bridge and the additional time and pain to fix the chipped tooth but if I can save someone else from this terrible experience- DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to be become a "learning experience" for the staff. I've happily found a new dentist I'm content with. I left my prior dentist because I'd moved, and because I was becoming very suspicious that they were recommending a LOT of unnecessary appointments and treatments. So, because this place is conveniently close to home for me, so close I drive by here practically every day, I figured I'd try them. They were attentive, friendly, and on-the-ball. There was a brief hiccup with my dental insurance, but they were sure to get that cleared up quickly. The staff was polite and friendly, and they didn't try to over-sell me on lots of unnecessary treatments or visits. They politely offered a fluoride treatment they said my insurance wouldn't cover, but gently let it go when I said I wasn't paying for any optional things my insurance wouldn't cover. I moved to Georgetown last November and love living here. I found my new dentist today and could not be more pleased. I had a good cleaning and a thorough check-up, and will definitely be coming back for more. I see this as my new go to place for all my future dental work and cleanings. The staff was absolutely awesome. They were very friendly and polite too. I felt so comfortable. With this being my first time ever being here, it was like I'd been a patient there for years cause that's the welcoming I received. It's very important to me to find a dental office that is professional, yet down to earth at the same time. The office was so clean and decorated quite lovely . Dianna checked me out and she was a joy too. She clarified everything and explained my payment options also. I also had my very first experience with a dental hygienist today and let me tell ya, Shelia rocked. My teeth felt great after the cleaning. Might I add that they also have state of the art equipment too. I was very impressed with that as well.
